I once traveled with the second Wappen von Hamburg from Hamburg to Helgoland and back in the mid sixties, fantastic. They were also doing something called "Butterfahrten", a day trip out on the northern see and back without any stop and with the opportunity of buying things tax-free
@@olebanthien5056 The 2nd "Wappen von Hamburg" was built in 1965. I did that trip too, same ship, but 2003. But she wasn't the 2nd "Wappen von Hamburg": de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_von_Schiffen_mit_dem_Namen_Wappen_von_Hamburg
Greetings From The UK - well done
I’m late to this party so forgive me if this has been suggested. You’ve done a good job of promoting your dedicated team’s restoration of the Aurora. Maybe you could sell pieces of the teak deck you removed. Maybe make the purchasers “commemorative plank owners” of the Aurora.
Good Luck to all. Great video and production work.
Near my home they are restoring a pier. One regular source of funds is selling pieces of the wood decking.
The deck was almost completely ruined, and not a single piece of good lumber the way it looked.
Good Lord. I've seen many people take on projects on UA-cam but this has to be the project of all projects. What a huge undertaking. I'm impressed you're even trying this and seem to be doing a good job so far. I'm interested enough to subscribe and watch your progress on this boat.
I found your channel through SHIP HAPPENS. What a fantastic undertaking. If I were young again I think I would volunteer my time...Well done
Welcome aboard! We have volunteers of all ages. Funny how the most skilled of them all are the older group.
You are AMBITIOUS SIR...GOOD LUCK
Daaaaamn thats a huge ship, im in.
That would be a great place to hold weddings! Coming down the stairs for the bride would be Fantabulous. You might make more money doing weddings and having it as a museum. Are holding parties just a thought? Or do both.
She is a beautiful ship, I wish you well with her.
Amazing work
Thank you, Gets much better….
It has great lines
Ahoy... just watched the segment on 'CBS Sunday Morning' showcasing your situation. Will be following and lending tip's as time marches on.
Think using her as a platform for seaplane rides. The river makes a great sea-base! Profitable and fun!!!
Wow, super super envious. I’d love to purchase and restore an old vessel like this…. will be following with great interest!
Thanks for watching. Trust me the stress that goes along with an adventure like this makes everything difficult at best.
@@AuroraRestorationProject yes, definitely a job for the brave and resourceful
Chris. Your work on Aurora is amazing and a true credit to your skills. I hope to one day visit her in the flesh, but your UA-cam fills my boatlover soul for now. Please keep up the good work on her.
As someone who spent their career in the shipbuilding and repair industry in the UK, this is a hell of a project and from the video, you’re all doing an amazing job with very limited resources. I’ll definitely be watching. You’ve got a new subscriber at least.
I appreciate the kind words. Will try and keep this entertaining as we move forward.
Love this story. Saw the segment on CBS. Good luck with the project.
Love it, great work
She's beautiful!
So excited I found this channel looking forward to seeing the progress!
