Summer Splice: 1960 Chevy "Biscala": It's a Crumbling Ruin! Can We Save This Sweet Hardtop?

  • Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
  • Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in! This week we're going to keep going on the 1960 Chevy Impala I bought from Tom a couple of years ago... I have a Chevy Biscayne sedan for a donor, and it is time to see if we can save the Impala by grafting it to the bottom of the solid Biscayne! I did a 1960 Plymouth Fury a few years ago, so it'll be a similar job, overall... This week we'll finish stripping out the Impala and lift the top of the body off...
First: We'll fire up the old Citroen Traction Avant and finish installing the hoist!
Thanks everyone who ordered a 1937 Chevy T-shirt; they're being printed now and I'll let everyone know when they are on the way!
Hope you enjoyed the 8mm clips! I am filming more on the 8mm camera and I'll include the footage as soon as I get it developed... Special thanks to Steve Dean and Niagara Film Labs in Toronto.
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments!

Hi Scott I've been watching your channel since well before the Fury splice. I live down in Calgary and I'm going to be in Edmonton next week. I have for you some atlas tire advertising inserts that date back to the 1960's that i'd like to give to you. Is there any chace of a meet up. If so How can I make that happen. I'll riding up on my 1977 Honda goldwing with custom sidecar. would you be ok If I stopped by and dropped them off. If this can work I'll bring them with me.

I was 14 when my uncle had enough logs to build his cabin..
They were cut from his property & air dried for 2 years...
He hired me for the summer to help him build it ...
It is one of my best memories growing up..
By summers end it was nearly complete .
Each room was made of a different species of wood & it was (still is) beautiful...
It has been featured in a few magazines that focus on log homes & my uncle made sure they mentioned me in the articles ...
Love to see Laura's when its finished..
The Impala is coming along...exciting to watch.

Congratulations! Lifts are life changing. Dad's first company car was a '63 Biscayne 6 / stick. He had to make the deal with a local dealer. It was either that or the equivalent base model Ford. The company was so cheap they didn't allow an AM radio so the dealer had to "bury it" in the paperwork. I was - what? - 11? at the time. I remember being in the showroom where there was another Biscayne with a painted roof that was supposed to resemble a vinyl top. It didn't.

My granpops and I were close when he was alive and that 63 is exactly what he drove! You made this old man cry when I saw your 63 Chevy. So many memories.

World's sketchiest forklift. But either you have a lot of unshared footage or it always does what you need it to do.
An action packed episode, so much great progress on several fronts.

Stephen had a great idea there. It ain't stupid if it works!
My wife was watching with me and she said the grinder & saw noise on the Impala counteracted her tinnitus and helped her relax. Who knew metal work could be so therapeutic?

If I had not watched the Fury splice I would be wondering where the Impala is👍 headed. I know that somewhere down the road I will be coming back to this video and shaking my head in disbelief.

I was born in 1960 so really the top car on my list would be a 60 Ford station wagon, then a 68 Cougar XR7 and a 68 Galaxie 500 fastback.

Laura's cabin is going to be awesome! She has got to be one of the most comedic woman that I have ever seen. On top of that, she is highly intelligent and gorgeous. Are you sure that you are related Scott, maybe you were adopted?! ?! LOL 😆 🤣 😂.
This might just have been your best episode yet, my flabber is completely gasted!
Cheers, see you Thursday. I shudder to think what you might get up to by then!

Wow! That lift is going to be an amazing addition to the plantation.
The forklift paid its way once more. Can't wait to see the video of it going to Kyle's for a makeover.
Congrats to Laura and her hubby for the progress so far. Impressive work by John.
Oh.. please tell Ash to not drink and drive. I mean.. look what he did to that car! Tore it apart. Wow.
Well, Scott.. you really didn't disappoint with this episode (not that you usually do). Fantastic.
Cheers to you, Frankers, the agents and of course to the foreman and Honey Bunny too.

I've had cars with a clutch that sticks to the plate and flywheel. Before dropping a spinning wheel I would first try to break the disk free by applying brake force as I added throttle to maintain the engine speed. It puts a BUNCH of progressive torque into the driveline without so much excitement. I've grown timber 45 years. Laura's timbers are from a different world.

the most important thing to make sure cant fail is the swing pins for the arms that hit the ground to release the lock, waylon wire found that out the hard way several months back
as this is an outside lift double check if they dont lock in as the lift goes up the lift cuts out
if the pins jam from dirt or rust the arms can slip out from under the car
