    Well that looked fairly straightforward. I'll be interested in how the van handles, and particularly if it reduces the crashing over bumps these vans tend to have. Thanks for the vlog, very informative. 👋

    Just a couple of suggestions, don't use dish washing soap anywhere on a vehicle as it contains salt which encourages corrosion, use a car shampoo. Also any oil, including WD40, will attack rubber components, use silicone spray which is inert.

    Be interesting to see how they pan out on a longer journey, I presume the device puts extra stress on the other coils so wonder if they can reduce the life of the spring.

    • @Dirt-Diggler
      @Dirt-Diggler 2 роки тому +1

      IME using them, the extra force on the remaining coils isn't an issue unless the particular spring already has a snapping issue 🤔
      For instance fiestas have a known weakness on the lower coil causing them to snap and collapse the suspension, i wouldn't use one of these on them as it will exasperate the issue where as i used coil assisters on a sierra P100 for 10 years without an issue but they didn't have that weakness built in to start with 👍
      I've fitted 20+ sets over the years and never had a failure, some I've even transferred from an older vehicle to the owners new vehicle 6 years later without issue, although they are mainly used on the rear to help rear end sag when towing or loaded 👍

    Did you not carry on uploading videos? Your van build is good and ideal for our situation with the 2 beds at the back. I really want to see it finished.

    Great video as always. Very informative. What made you go with the 1094 'springs' please? SuperSprings appear to suggest 1168, and UK distributor seems to only supply 1195... any any advice appreciated. Thank you

      Oh heck, did not even realise there were different ones, just found mine on Amazon and went for it being so much cheaper than rip off UK supplier even being posted from states!! they have worked fine though (luckily by the sounds of things)

    Did you see any additional clearance after you’d been out for a drive?
    Sometimes just lifting and dropping your vehicle on/off a jack leaves the suspension a little raised. It only settles after the vehicle is moved.

    • @Dirt-Diggler
      @Dirt-Diggler 2 роки тому +3

      They usually lift the suspension by around half of the coil gap not the full height of the rubber assisters, the remaining coils will sag further than before as there are effectively less of them sharing the same load 👍

    • @wiltshirecustomcamper7203
      @wiltshirecustomcamper7203  Рік тому

      Yes, they are definitely worth it, the front does not 'wallow' so much going around corners. I really notice it on those long sweeping bends on and off of motorways. the trim was already on the van from new, I think the L4H3 has it as standard.

    I have a Citroen Relay 2018 model . I carry heavy load and I’m thinking of upgrading my suspension. You have any recommendation

    • @wiltshirecustomcamper7203
      @wiltshirecustomcamper7203  Рік тому

      go with HD leaf spring upgrades at the back and shock/spring upgrades at the front. sumo springs and air suspension is probably not the thing for 'goods' vans really.

  • @Dirt-Diggler
    @Dirt-Diggler 2 роки тому +3

    Sorry to be that guy but what is the difference between the sumo spring and normal Spring assisters from somone like towsure for under £20 or GT towing or any trailer/ towing company

    • @houseinavan194
      @houseinavan194 2 роки тому +1

      Good point...I can't see any difference (not intending to diss the video, very useful content)...they both reduce the spring by one coil...affectively putting more pressure on the other coils, not that that is an issue.

    • @Dirt-Diggler
      @Dirt-Diggler 2 роки тому +2

      @@houseinavan194 I'm not knocking the vid at all i just wondered 👍
      I've used spring assisters for years, they work ok, IMHO an ARB upgrade would be the ideal fix but way way more expensive unless a factory upgrade is available, possibly from an ambulance or cab and chassis option like a recovery truck or tipper, they typically have uprated factory suspension 🤔

      have not noticed help with wind sway but helps for sure around long corners such as motorway interchanges with the front end not dropping and swaying so much. definitely recommend.

      they are 225/75/16. although this is slightly different to the originals my tyre store assured me it was fine to use and has been all fine so far. but as they are NOT exactly the same as OEM original tyres I would have to say not to copy what I did until you have satisfied yourself that it is safe to do so and ask your local tyre supplier for further info.
