We used to have one of these in a sky blue color, and the car was my cousins car, and I can't believe how reliable they are. We had it for 17 years until it got into a car crash this year.
My daughter bought a diesel Yaris 6 years ago and has done nearly 100,000 miles in it. Absolutely trouble free, origonal battery, alternator, exhaust etc. Brilliant car.
I own an 08 Yaris Sedan and it is a great car. The only complaint these people had was about the bloody cup holders....It is quiet and fun to drive and using my Scanguage I have determined that I get 50+MPG....This car is highly under rated....cheers
My Yaris gets 45 mpg! After 27k miles this is what it has averaged, keeping track of every drop of gas and every mile. Of course they don't mention that in the review of an economy car, they talk about performance handling instead.
this seems harsh criticism but true, i own a 2008 toyota yaris, i love it, driving it is nice, altho i hate the cup holders and no where to put your stuff, and lacking some gadgets, other than that i love it, i will probably resale it after i finish school
I have a Yaris hatch and I love the damn thing. Why they aren't more popular is beyond me. The fuel economy versus price ratio makes it more economical than a Prius given what I paid for it.
I just bought a Yaris, never got anything like 47mpg, but after driving from chicago to NY, I got a consistent 37mpg. I liked the handling, steering was pretty responsive, acceleration definitely needed creative manual shifting for necessary pickup, top speed was just fine at 95mph. Though a small car on the outside, the interior has more driver/passenger room than most regular compacts.Biggest complaints - lousy dashboard layout and no power anything. I am looking for after market upgrades.
I have this exact 2007 S and its been a very decent car. Got it used for cheap, now it has almost 230k miles on it and it's never needed any other than routine maintenance. It's a very touchy ride like most Toyotas. If you just need a reliable point A to point B car, this is it. No frills, no real fun, just simple and predictable.
I recently got a Yaris too, and I agree, it's a great small car, and I don't find anything wrong with it, either. I got the stripped down 4-door hatchback version, with no power anything, for just under $14,000. I don't see the point of getting this car with the power package and paying $17,000 for it, as shown in this video. That messes up the price advantage. Because the car is so small, it's not hard to operate the crank windows, even when you're driving.
This is going to be my future car. I have an elantra gt. I just dont understand all the bashing of these kind of cars here in the USA. I guess they dont mind the petrol(gas) payments being higher than their car payments. I payed 4dollars for regular today in tampa.Just wait till hurricane season starts and it hits 5dollars a gallon in USA.
Yes but let's see how many miles per gallon its numerous competitors can offer. The diesel Yaris (not available in the US only Japan) gets over 60 mpg in a car that is under $15000. Too cool!
i just bought one, i know toyota have had the recalls and shit but to me i see it as a advantage. toyota has a fix PLUS they are putting down GREAT offers... so i bought one for so cheap! love my new yaris
i have this exact same car (only it's charcoal) and i must admit at first i didn't like it that much. I still dont like it that much, but it is a good car, it does what it's supposed to do and it doesn't even eat petrol (exaggeration). For the price my parents paid for it it's not worth it but it's a good lil car.
@talldude123 aaahh... i see... but i did not mean any of those about the aveo... what we most complain about based on experience is the... 1.dependability and durability, which is the most important thing of all in a car. 2.service and maintenace is quite a bother. i had friends who got the aveo and the chevvy spark because they were better looking both outside and inside compared to their respective rivals and they discovered that the Daewoo quality is very noticeable. Cheers!
Well, if you think that price tag is a littlee bit too much, turn to scion xd and maybe you'll like it. cruise ctrl, pwr window and door lock, pioneer audio head unit, and many more comes as STANDARD with MSRP price of only 15,290.... (Don't forget that scion is Toyota's subdivision company, so it's reliability is the same as Toyota's)
when was the last time toyota made a truly good car? i mean when was the last time toyota made a standout car that was actually acceptable or exceptional to drive? not since the celica... COME ON TOYOTA, YOU'RE THE FUCKING BIGGEST CAR MAKER IN THE WORLD, BUILD CARS WE ACTUALLY WANT!
@talldude123 Do you know how reliable this car is? A chevy Aveo is possibly the shittest car on the road for dependability. Yes, it may be pricier than a comparable fit or a Aveo but man, its FUCKING durable
that's my point. their cars are boring. they don't do anything wrong, and owners have no technical problems, but i can't think of one (besides the land cruiser) that really shines out from the crowd, can you?
I own a 2010 sedan and the only thing I actually agree with them on is the cup holders being too short. they are very well placed, but certainly can't hold a cup securely. the car scoots just fine with the small engine, and the handling is actually the best I tested. the feature I love MOST OF ALL though, is the VSC can be turned completely off!!!
I think this is one of the most cramped, uncomfortorable cars I have ever driven! The engine is noisy, and on a recent 400 mile trip at a steady 55 to 60 mpg I barely got 35 miles per gallon. It's my son's car so OK for him as he has just started driving, but you do not want to be driving this car for anything other than short distances.
why do you assume i can't afford a toyota? and explain to me which toyota does something that none of the other cars in it's class does. which one handles the best, is cheapest, most powerful, etc. every single one of their cars are just average, and nothing more. in fact, i'm on vacation now in LA and i'm renting a highlander. both remotes are broken for it, there's a severe wind leak, an air vent fell out, and the dome light doesn't work. it also sounds like it's on 5 cylinders.
why would some1 buy a top of the line yaris...or top of the line corolla with leather seats and moon roof ....I"m not sure about moon roof but I'm sure I've seen leather corollas......
This "review" bares no relationship to reality. I've got a Yaris II zinc 1.3 and its superb. also $17k = about £8.5k, that ain't a lot for a fully loaded car so stop complaining.
If Toyota would just redesign the front end of both the hatchback and sedan as well as the dashboard design and put the gauges where they should be, in front of the driver, I might actually like this car enough to want one. But something that looks like an alien fish in my rearview mirror with a cheap and ugly looking dashboard is not appealing to me. I would much rather have a Honda Fit. At least it looks sporty and fun and the interior looks a millions times better in quality.
@talldude123 I gotta agree with the Honda Fit/Jazz but it's pricier than the Yaris... but the Aveo??? no man.... Chevy Aveo/Daewoo shit. sorry man i just have to put it that way... cheers!
"...0-60 in 10.5 seconds. Again, average for a subcompact sedan" Buuuutttt. it's an automatic!!! the automatic Yaris' have very slow off-the-line acceleration...
and, it only has 20,000 miles. i'm sorry, but this means that toyotas (or at least toyotas designed by americans, like the highlander) aren't built with anymore quality than anyone else either if after 20,000 miles of shuffling kids and their luggage around it has all those problems. so please explain to me why toyota's are appealing, because i just don't get it.
Heh well if you happen to get your hands on it, the chicks will love you for it. Its a good commuter car, thats about it. Would I buy one? Never, unless a friend or someone gave it to me for a price i couldn't turn down.
i'm going to take a yaris soon..it look boring and not good as american car but as many people said ,reliable....i come to US for half of year and really impressed with american car,but not reliable....now i understand why chrysler,gm,chev is down....and toyota become number 1.when 'm rich , i will think a about american car cause it will cost you great damn $ to fix .....
It makes me sick that we are going to be forced to drive these little ugly insults of real cars in the future++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I gladly sold my fully loaded Lexus ES330 positively beautiful because sight unseen I wanted a Fun car and ordered the Yaris Sport Hatchback with all options nearing 19,000 without tax and license added. Do what makes you happy! Life is shorter than we think!
My country is was one of the oldest nations on earth, but in 1707 our Independence was handed over to the English ......after many years we have a devolved parliament but still wait for the restoration of our Independence....ALBA GU BRATH,,,(Scotland until the end of time).
I still have mine. 13 years and still going strong. Just basic maintenance
We used to have one of these in a sky blue color, and the car was my cousins car, and I can't believe how reliable they are. We had it for 17 years until it got into a car crash this year.
I just bought mine with 53k and had for a month now I honestly love it...
I had my car for 4 years and this car is amazing it's so reliable and the gas is really affordable for me especially when I'm on a tight budget
My daughter bought a diesel Yaris 6 years ago and has done nearly 100,000 miles in it.
Absolutely trouble free,origonal battery,alternator,exhaust etc.
Brilliant car.
I own an 08 Yaris Sedan and it is a great car.

diesel?!? i thought the yaris only options is gasoline?? how many litre is the engine??
Why did you say "extra lower" about the body panels? Why not just "lower", or "extra low"?
gotta love the timing chain on these little car.
Replacing it or never having to?
@@project3003 never have to as long as you change the oil when needed.
shits pretty fast compared to most cars its size trust me
MrDevilownsmysoul I know I won one and I have made some cars bite the dust
I have this exact 2007 S and its been a very decent car. Got it used for cheap, now it has almost 230k miles on it and it's never needed any other than routine maintenance. It's a very touchy ride like most Toyotas. If you just need a reliable point A to point B car, this is it. No frills, no real fun, just simple and predictable.
is it still holding up now? whats the current amount of miles?
223k miles. still running good. just had to put a new alternator in it, but other than that nothing
thanks
Just bought a 2007 Yaris S grey with 152000 miles on it, it runs and drives like new. :)
Mine 320k miles now ,still running good
I recently got a Yaris too, and I agree, it's a great small car, and I don't find anything wrong with it, either. The manufacturing site of this car is in Japan & Thailand.
Yes but let's see how many miles per gallon its numerous competitors can offer. The diesel Yaris (not available in the US only Japan) gets over 60 mpg in a car that is under $15000. Too cool!
Meh, i got one myself for 11,000 and has almost everything automatic. its a 2008, but I'm still wondering how it will handle through the months.
isn't this a separate model from the yaris hatch, or is this just another body style?
i just bought one, i know toyota have had the recalls and shit but to me i see it as a advantage. toyota has a fix PLUS they are putting down GREAT offers... so i bought one for so cheap! love my new yaris
i own a 2007 hatch and it is the best small car on the road i've driven the other cars in its class sorry they don;'t measure up this car rules
About 1 pound sterling which is roughly 70 euros.
Manual transmission will make this car a second faster and a thousand $ cheaper.
My gf has this car and the only problem with it is that when you drive it to 100 km 5th gear the rpm will be at 3000 which is very high.
Have you seen the 2000sr or the ft-hs hybrid?
thats pretty small for a diesel engine! how often do u have to go to the gas station????
idk if i like that instrument cluster in the center of the car.
i have this exact same car (only it's charcoal) and i must admit at first i didn't like it that much. I still dont like it that much, but it is a good car, it does what it's supposed to do and it doesn't even eat petrol (exaggeration). i have the 2012 vios or yaris sedan her it has 88k odo
1.3g
Any yaris 1.3L support cruise control
I need to know p/n of the ecu
We have a lot of diesel cars here because fuel is so expensive and the diesel engine is 30% more efficient than the corresponding gasoline engine
This car is also known as Toyota Belta in Japan & Toyota Vios in Southeast Asia.
Sedan version is called "Toyota Vios/Belta/Ativ"
I thought the fully loaded Yaris were close to $17,000...I would pay 12 for the hatchback
Well, if you think that price tag is a littlee bit too much, turn to scion xd and maybe you'll like it. cruise ctrl, pwr window and door lock, pioneer audio head unit, and many more comes as STANDARD with MSRP price of only 15,290.... this car is a very fuel efficient car!
this car is for the first time car buyers. Most of whom dont know how to drive a stick shift here in USA.
It's a small car. They might not be available in the U.S.
They can achieve up to 60m.p.g.
I am in Scotland.
ts a vios in the philippines. we have a 1300 and a 1500 variants.
when was the last time toyota made a truly good car? i mean when was the last time toyota made a standout car that was actually acceptable or exceptional to drive? not since the celica... COME ON TOYOTA, YOU'RE THE FUCKING BIGGEST CAR MAKER IN THE WORLD, BUILD CARS WE ACTUALLY WANT!
really?!?1 how many euros per litre???
right, ur in europe... wow 60mpg!!
at least this car is better than my 2009 corolla !
how is it better than a corolla. I am deciding between a 2007 yaris and a 2007 corolla
@CaligirlSofia good thing the new Yaris has tons of hidden in-dash storage now. The cup holders and also better now.
@talldude123
Do you know how reliable this car is? A chevy Aveo is possibly the shittest car on the road for dependability.
Yes, it may be pricier than a comparable fit or a Aveo but man, its FUCKING durable
that's my point. their cars are boring. they don't do anything wrong, and owners have no technical problems, but i can't think of one (besides the land cruiser) that really shines out from the crowd, can you?
I wish the car had a 6 speed auto with more power.

the base model is little less then $12,000 U.S.
why would some1 buy a top of the line yaris...or top of the line corolla with leather seats and moon roof ....I"m not sure about moon roof but I'm sure I've seen leather corollas......
I was interested in this until I found my 92HP Mirage goes 0-60 in 8.7 compared with this POS @ 10.4
Car Is Also Known As Toyota Vios
me and my brother were passing a yaris and my brother dosent know that much about cars and he said the yaris is toyotas failure
Would like to drive one with the Blitz supercharger on it.... and of course... lighten it a little bit. LOL! 2000lbs 130whp... that would be ok.
This "review" bares no relationship to reality. I've got a Yaris II zinc 1.3 and its superb. also $17k = about £8.5k, that ain't a lot for a fully loaded car so stop complaining.
yeah the fully loaded, but without all the fancy stuff the car itself is 11,300
17k for a yaris? screw that and get the Corolla S. A friend of mine got his for 18k and the corolla S looks far better than the yaris
If Toyota would just redesign the front end of both the hatchback and sedan as well as the dashboard design and put the gauges where they should be, in front of the driver, I might actually like this car enough to want one. I would never pay 17,000 for this thing
I prefer the Echo. They move better, were available with less options, and cheaper. Plus more unique and more storage spaces.
my lovely car !!!
@talldude123 I gotta agree with the Honda Fit/Jazz but it's pricier than the Yaris... but the Aveo??? no man.... Chevy Aveo/Daewoo shit. sorry man i just have to put it that way... cheers!
@marib2006 not reeally, toyota engineers r stupid, they cant make a right seating position in yaris, corolla, camry while Lexus r more rgonomic
106 HP???? my vacuum cleaner has more than that
i love this car!!
@Lonewalker321 Me too, but I love my yaris! I hope someone can anwser this.
"...0-60 in 10.5 seconds. Again, average for a subcompact sedan" Buuuutttt. it's an automatic!!! the automatic Yaris' have very slow off-the-line acceleration...
1.4 D4D.

so please explain to me why toyota's are appealing, because i just don't get it.
its our vios in the philippines
wtf?!?!! dude thats a rip off!!! i use to fill in my gas once a week at that price!!!
Heh well if you happen to get your hands on it, the chicks will love you for it. Its a good commuter car, thats about it. Would I buy one? Never, unless a friend or someone gave it to me for a price i couldn't turn down.
yaris shorter than this belta ( or vios ) ....
i'm going to take a yaris soon..it look boring and not good as american car but as many people said ,reliable....i come to US for half of year and really impressed with american car,but not reliable....now i understand why chrysler,gm,chev is down....and toyota become number 1.when 'm rich , i will think a about american car cause it will cost you great damn $ to fix .....
@MindyMystique
Thats because it doesnt have anything.
Get a 5 speed.... more fun to drive
@giantenemycrabX
I got an 08 Speed 3 for $15,300. 2.3L Turbo, 263hp 280 ft/b torque!
i would rather have a vitz
17000 for that?! You could get a Mazda 3 for that much!
@fastguyforever27 this comment is funny being that Toyota and Lexus are the SAME company. btw i know this is old but I just had to comment!!
lexus is toyota!
LA Mega Yaris
It makes me sick that we are going to be forced to drive these little ugly insults of real cars in the future++++++++++++++++++++++++++

HAHA, "TOp of the Line?" Dear god.
wow, 17k?
just buy a Mazda 3 for that much - its faster, stronger, and just better overall.
CUP HOLDER isn't good, LMAO, thats so fucking american xD
Echoooo
My country is was one of the oldest nations on earth, but in 1707 our Independence was handed over to the English ......after many years we have a devolved parliament but still wait for the restoration of our Independence....ALBA GU BRATH,,,(Scotland until the end of time).
