I am beyond blessed to have this exact same 2010 Yaris sedan, same color, missing hubcaps and all!! She's the greatest car I've ever owned in my life. Not many people can say they still drive their first car!!! She's almost to 250,000 miles and still going strong!
@@nick16279Yeah, thing with the mirage is the safetly (at least in Mexico is not as safe as the Yaris) second point is; the power, these little Cars are obviously NOT powerful, but 106hp vs 78hp for a car that weigh a Ton (literally) is a big difference. In my mind Yaris wins. (Milage is very marginal when comparing both, the Mirage has a bigger tank tho)
@@PippeML Yaris is also a very reliable car. I've owned a 2000 Toyota Echo/Yaris and a 2005 Toyota Echo/Yaris both with 108hp and these cars weigh more than the 78 Horsepower Mirage. I've had to floor the Yaris going up steephills to maintain 120 km/h meanwhile in the Mirage I was just able to downshift with no problem going uphill. This is probaby due to the weight difference dispite the Yaris having more horsepower its still going to be slower since it is quite a bit heavier. It might also have to do with the Mirage having shorter gears therefore quicker acceleration. The Mirage does tend to rev higher than the Yaris on the highway.
I own a 2008 Toyota Yaris sedan and its made in Japan. Best investment I’ve ever had, still get 28/32mpg in a manual transmission and has 320,000 miles. Bought it with 132,000 in 2013
Toyota is one of the best car brands or THE BEST worldwide. You can waste your money on expensive cars, or even electric. Toyota has the big will to build good cars that are reliable and last long. A very great intention when building something. Toyota not only has the will, they actually do that. Yaris from for example 2005 are a great example. Yaris is all about a good fun car. Nothing less and nothing more. It runs usually hasslefree. Toyota have their prices, but they are worth every penny. One Yaris tank gets you about 400 miles. That's more than lots of electric cars. The good thing: Lots of Yarises are after 300'000 miles still running fine. That's also more sustainable than most of the EVs.
We have a 2006 Yaris 1.3 L automatic with 370,000 km. It's running beautifully: 142 PSI across all 4 cylinders. We have upgraded both front and rear suspension with slightly stiffer springs and slightly longer springs: The original springs sagged a bit too quickly and we kept scraping speed humps. The stiffer rear springs and shocks also fixed the toe-in problem that started to wear out the front tyres too quickly. The air conditioner compressor and throttle body sensor also failed. The aircon fan got wet and had to be replaced (very easy job). Other than those minor items it's been very reliable. N.B. ATF fluid likes regular changes and doesn't like being overfilled. The ECU light may come on if the battery is failing (CCA 1/2 of normal)... so change it once it shows any sign of hesitancy (especially on a cold night). To pass a roadworthy we had to replace the headlights (~$240 aftermarket). The existing lenses were a bit cloudy: We might have been able to polish them out... but didn't want to risk it. Anyone want a set of spare headlights with polished lenses? 🙂
Our 2015 1.3 L Yaris >200,000 km is likewise running perfectly. We put in slightly firmer and longer springs front and back when the originals started to sag and the front tyres started to toe in. :-)
Bonded a lubricant to the inside of the engines when they were new... which resulted in ~80% reduction in wear: That's a ~5x increase in engine lifespan. That's another reason both cars are running so well. 🙂
I had this exact Yaris (2011). I loved it, though the A pillars block your vision a lot and the back headrests blocked the window, so I kept them off. Only got rid of it because someone totaled it. So fun to drive.
I used to own a 2007 Yaris S sedan just like this one. Traded it in for a C-HR but whenever I see a video with one of these little buggers in it i remember my times in it. If youre a solo driver with no passengers this thing can store quite a bit. one summer it took me, a weeks worth of luggage, a bike and beach gear down without a single issue and i still had some space for more. The Yaris is a very very very nice car for its price and it has the added benefit of teaching younger drivers how to drive better. I've always held that you get more from a smaller car where you have to know its limit and capabilities than a gas guzzler who rockets off with a tiny bit of pedal. So nice to see your review of it!
