- A Toyota Specialist shares a Toyota Total Hidden Gem which is the Toyota Yaris from 2007-2019.
This is one that is hidden in plain sight just because it's a basic transportation car doesn't make it a bad one. The Toyota Yaris is actually one of the best cars Toyota made.

I brought a 2007 manual Yaris brand new. It finally died on me in 2020. I replaced two starters, two water pumps, two clutches, a rear wheel baring, and one transmission before the engine started severely burning oil, then one of the cylinders stopped firing. The car lasted me 645k mostly highway miles. This was the most reliable car I ever owned.
Well over a million kms (1,038,450km exactly), truly incredible.
Congrats 👏
645k?? Damn
Damn. Thats like 7 Nissans worth in 1 car
Damn you got me beat by a lot. My Yaris only has 246,000 miles. The only difference is I have done absolutely nothing to it except one tuneup at 190,000 miles I know I know I was 90,000 miles overdue.😂😂 but I do change the oil every 5000 miles. I actually take that back. I’ve had one thing break on it. My CD player stopped working.😂😂
wow that is allot of mileage, you won't see that out of a Hyundai lol, I have a 2012 ford focus and it only has 96,000 kilometers and has gone through a steering rack, camshaft position sensor, heater core, engine mounts and brake rotor disks and is already burning engine oil. I would like to have a simple reliable Yaris or Corolla.
Sitting here with a goofy smile on my face, love my little yaris.
They named the sedan version here in the Philippines as 'Vios' and you can literally see them everywhere here. They're popularly used as a taxi and for ride-hailing services like Uber since the car just doesn't break down at all. It's literally a mini-tank. They offer 2 engines here, the 1.5 liter and a smaller 1.3 liter.
Those things are probably the single most popular car in the country. I learned to drive stick in one of them; if you jump into a taxi or a rideshare it'll be one of these the vast majority of the time.
Drove this car when I traveled in the Philippines. They're amazing!
@@kizzmequik70four most people learnt how to drive on these, the older model use hydraulic steering so it's a pain sometimes lol
it doesn't even have a temp meter cuz they dont need one
@@MinhThangDamcan attest. My driving school car was a newer Vios/Yaris. Great learning car, I find.
My Yaris has over 220,000 miles and still going strong!
I have a 2011 Yaris with only 41k miles. It is a great basic car and very reliable.
Do the oil change yourself with good oil....it'll run mega miles!
@@tardeliesmagic I have a 2016 and the check Engine light turned on at 250.000 miles. I changue oil every 3000 miles.
You selling? Lol
@@1yotube What was the code that came up for the check engine light?
The Yaris is possibly the most popular Toyota in Europe. I still see them on the street in Denmark every single day, from the first gen (tho rare) to the newest ones. People abuse and barely service these cars and they don't seem to ever die.
Yeah no wonder all the food delivery drivers use those cars, sometimes I see them completely smashed in with belts squealing but they just keep going.
In Europe we use the 1.0 and 1.5 threecylinder engines mostly hybrid.
Here in Slovenia Yaris is almost as popular as golf or polo, there's still lot of gen 1 and 2 cars around.
Also because it's super fuel efficient
I suddenly missed my 2008 Yaris sedan after watching this. That car never gave me a headache and shown how reliable it is during my 8 years of ownership. It conquered floods and 10km oil changes and still run efficient. Mechanical bits that failed over the years are the radiator fan, rear shocks and wheel bearings only. Thank you for honoring how great this car is.
I have always regretted selling my 2008 Yaris when I upgraded to a Mazda 3. This year I'm hoping to see if I can purchase it back
What happened to it? I just bought a black 08 4dr sedan automatic in 2022-23 with 86k miles had 2 owners the dealer owned it up to 55k miles then 1 personal driver til 82k miles now me.
Any reasons you sold it? I’ve kept far less reliable cars for over 20 years.
Sold it in 2018 because I changed to a Mazda 3 sedan. And I didn't even consider the idea of owning two cars at the time. I wish I kept it though. Didn't have any issues when I sold it
I have been WAITING for you to talk about the Yaris, I bought one used with 130,000 miles and its such a champ. I wanted a prius but decided to still get a cheaper and still reliable car. Do not regret and am such a Yaris fan.
keep an Eye on the oil level.
@@1yotubeThe Yaris burns oil , does it? I bought a used 2010 Prius with the same issue.
@@wturner777 why did you feel hurt?
I had a 2010 two door. Five speed with crank windows. I'd get amazing gas mileage. I LOVED how simple and cheap it was/felt. I regret selling it.
That’s how I feel about my 97 Corolla I’ll never sell it just love it’s the last boxy simple car. Just a motor/ac and heat/and power windows/radio nothing more nothing less.
@@erikgonzalez2278 The 9th gen corollas are pretty basic and simple to maintain too.
Most people think the 4-speed auto was outdated but it's probably one of the best things about it. Bulletproof.
Mine was awesome! 2002 1.3L here in the UK was brilliant, 49mpg best. Changed the TYPE4 fluid only once halfway through my 13 yrs ownership, well drained & re filled twice in a week as i got a 5L bottle that does each drain of 2.2L. Got it on 2008 till 2021.
I had a 2007 4 door sedan Yaris. Best car I ever owned. Drove it to 182k miles and wrecked it. Nothing ever went wrong with it ! Nothing. Original brakes until 135k miles and nothing ever broke on it. I am still ticked off that I totalled it.
I bought a 2002 Toyota Echo for daughter for high school from a co-worker with 192K mi, same engine as Yaris, 5 spd manual. Regular maintenance, replaced AC compressor, radiator hoses & front brakes. That's it! Still has original rear brakes currently 278K miles. Tried to sell, but no one can drive 5 speed anymore!
where are you located ? I’m interested in the car
5 speed manual equals anti-theft measure, for many folks. LOL!

Most people maybe but not anyone, first vehicle I ever learned to drive 1966 Chevy C10 3 on the 🎄
Had 2. Sold one when it got high up there, the other (light blue) had ultra low miles which my wife wrecked. Thankfully she was ok but it was done.
Now I have a 2005 Sienna that I make videos with
This man is SPOT ON with the reliability. We had a salvaged title 2007 running at 300k+ mileage, and the last 75k was of “SEVERE” neglect (maybe 1-2 oil changes). I did not respect the Yaris, but it really earned it at the end of my torturous ownership. IRON DONKEY
1-2 oil changes... Hope you turned your life around
@@HawaiiFoodAndFun lol... aging process has been good for me
The Yaris is my dream car. It makes me smile whenever I see one on the road. Cute car.
My wife does the same 😂😂
I just bought a 2014 yaris hatchback with 48000 miles love it so far
I never owned a Yaris, but I had a Tercel that wouldn't die. Lots of small simple cars are extremely reliable. The Honda Fit is another super reliable practical car. The added bonus with the fit is that the 5-speed is actually fun to drive.
Lots of simple cars are extremely unreliable which justifies a video dedicated to a good one.
I'm on my second tercel they are fantastic cars first one had 750 000 I unfortunately crashed it second one is currently at 367 000 and going strong
We still have a Tercel running in the family.
My family had a Tercel when I was growing up. Early 80's model year. Why my Dad got rid of it I'll never know, it had almost zero problems, which is saying something for cars of that era.
The fit is a great car, a little bit of mods and the car is super fun
I bought a brand new 5sp hatchback in 2007 for $13k. 17 years and 220k miles later, I still have it. The only "repair" I've done is replacing the MAF sensor. Otherwise ZERO issues. I had no idea this car was this good when I bought it.
If you get the manual, you can induce lift off oversteer and have a little fun. They had a one make cup series in Japan so racing parts are still available for import too.
Can you give me some search tips for racing parts? I never had much luck finding any
@@yehnahthx You need to search by the chassis name NCP91 and the JDM name Vitz or ヴィッツ. There aren't as many as 10 years ago but you can still find useful parts like racing brake shoes for the rear.
Japan market Vitz RS also came with the much more robust C56 close ratio 5 speed too, direct swap if you can import one for a good price.
@@mitch9521 Wow, that's good to know! Thanks for the tip 👍
This is exactly our experience. 260,000 miles now all we’ve had to do is the MAF; just recently replaced original spark plugs because I found out my fiancé never did🤣
I brought a used 2007 Toyota Yaris with 158,000 miles. $4400 out the door from a shady used car lot. the charcoal canister on mine went out so the CEL would be on and off all the time. Drove the car almost 50,000 miles within two years before selling it. That car helped me save a lot of money. All I did was change the oil and filter. The car was peppy and somewhat fun to drive. The seats were terrible on the car and the weird layout of the speedometer and cup holder was a bit weird.
The seats on my 2002 were terrible too, i liked the dashboard layout, here in the UK i had a 1.3L 4sp auto 49mpg best! The ride wasn't the best,it was more of a city car, i got a 2015 Yaris now & it's much better, ride, comfort fuel.
All Toyotas need Buick seats, for the driver.
The Yaris has a special place in my heart. My dad bought it new, and he taught my sisters and I in that car in a target parking lot. We all learned in that car after killing that clutch haha. we gave the car away and the only real issue was rust. I had to replace the rear axle beam on it. It wasn't too hateful
I"ve seen 1NZ FE in 1st gen scion XB at 500,000 miles and still running.
During the pandemic I had to suddenly buy a car and with the lockdowns I had limited income and savings so wanted the cheapest thing I could drive long distance across multiple countries without worrying. I chose a Yaris and have been amazed at just how good it is. It was only intended as a stop gap purchase but as it does everything asked of it and never breaks down I still have it in 2024. Like all my cars I rust proofed in as soon as I got it and I top it up every summer. Here in Europe we get the 97 BHP 1.33 1NR-FE engine with variable valve timing. Its a great engine, if you thrash it then its powerful but I am usually slow and lazy in whcih case it has plenty of tourque which reduces the number of gear changes - handy on a 14 hour drive. These engines are known to use oil although mine does not seem to use as much as most. It pays to keep an eye on the oil level. I prefer an auto but bought the manual because I thought it would be more reliable .. plus I can push start it if the battery or starter fails ( assuming the computer will let me ) Its a 6 speed box and so on the Motorway / Autobahn its only doing 2500 rpm at 70 mph / 120 kmh so for a tiny car its amazingly quiet. I can and do drive all day at 70 mph. In the 4 years the only thing to break was a wheel stud, probably because somebody ran it too tight with a windy gun. With the European car the trick of buying the cruise control does not work as the wiring is not preinstalled. Next week I am driving the Yaris up a mountain in Barvaria for a skiing holiday. On winter tyres its as good as a 4x4. I love the car so much I also bought a 1.3 IQ which is mechanically the same but totally different character and a hoot to drive.
Was it made in Thailand? My sister had one and it was a really smooth, comfortable car and the last small toyota with a conventional auto instead of a droning cvt. The best car as a work horse. No cvt,no turbo, no gdi, no hybrid system. Just basic , fail safe mechanicals.
In Chile many of these are taxis, some of them with over 600.000 km. That 1.5 was excellent, the car is light so is very agile. Great car.
Funny enough the Yaris was launched in South Africa in 2006 in both sedan and hatch but with a 1-liter and 1.3-liter engine. My mom bought her Sedan Manual with the 1.3i engine then and still using it today. I think it has about 300000km on the odo meter and still going strong.
Servicing is cheap & easy...parts everywhere & easy to fit.
Toyotas are absolutely awesome! Most people don’t know what they’re missing by not owning one. They have absolutely no idea. I’ve owned several domestic and foreign cars and even grew up in Detroit but Toyota is in a class of its own.
Yes, I have the scars from my years trying to keep Detroit engineered cars on the road. Nearly 19 years ago I saw the light and switched to a Pontiac made by Toyota. I will never go back to a Domestic made by the domestics. 😉
I have loved my 2005 Echo, precursor to the Yaris, now with 312,000 kms!!
EVERYONE should know he's NOT talking about the ones made by Mazda and just re-badged as a Yaris. He's specifically talking about the one with the 1.5 liter Toyota made 1NZ-FE engine.
Your comment needs more likes
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes and is he talking mmt auto 🤔
So then my question is how does the Re-Badged Mazda 2 version compare to the one that he is talking about?
@@1993paai The Mazda one is nowhere near as good as the real toyota made yaris in terms of long term durability. You might get 300k miles from the Mazda if you're really really lucky, but you can easily get 400k+ miles from the toyota.
We drive the 1.0 3-cylinder sold in Europe. Now at 200.000km still hasnt missed a beat.
Love the engine sound of these!
This indestructable legend is known as Vios here in Brunei and its everywhere. Its got really great reputation here and was selling like hot cakes when the first gen came out.
I own my 2008 Toyota Yaris. I love it so much! She’s so reliable. My car recently reached 200k miles.
👏👏👏👏
I owned one, 2013 vios manual batman that's what they are known for in the Philippines. Super reliable & dependable. I just do an oil change. It's my lifetime car.
Yaris owners, be careful tightening the drive belt. The oil control valve is in a place where you'd want to use a pry bar to tighten the belt. I broke mine and it took me a minute to figure out.
Thanks for the video! I'm on the Car Care Nut recommended maintenance plan and hope to get over 300,00 (Currently at 165).
But the VVVTTTTiiiiiiiiiiii control valve solenoid looks strong and to be made from solid metal, looks just like a solid piece of steel put there on purpose to pry on.
Turns out its just a thin stamped sheet metal cover, good advice.
Suspect many have been munted doing exactly that.
lol same thing happened to me. check engine light on after replacing drive belt, got me confused af
Btw the Recall List on the 08 is stupid! It shows a lot but it’s really only 3 on REPEAT! IDK why but one is Toyota forgot to put the sticker on side door jam telling us it’s load limits and tow limit! And another for Takata airbag which most cars had recalled for! And another for a possible rear brake lamp connector corrode causing brake lights to not work.
Hello AMD,
I am John Chan the fisherman. At 54 years of age I like knowledge and wisdom. My wife and I own 5 toyt. After watching this video My wife wants to get a yaris for our retire home down in Florida. My current POV 2007 tundra with a 5.7 liter is not for fuel consumption at around 11 mpg. Like you said a car for point A to point B. I will be green as well probably over 30 mpg.
It was an educational video, thank you and God bless
..and now the name Yaris pretty much has a proven rally cred as well because of the addition of the GR Yaris. Some people in Japan even take the regular Yaris to do some proper gravel rally.
From a "boring" but very reliable name previously and now evolve into something that with the same cred as the Lancia Integrale, Mitsubishi EVO, Audi Quattro, etc.
I have a 2008 Yaris sedan, it's probably the best Toyota my family has ever had, my dad recently bought a 2017 corolla and absolutely everything rattles inside. The yaris is super quiet and feels solid. Love this little car.
One of my best friends has a 2010 Yaris mini hatchback. I’ve known him for 10 years and it’s still going strong well past 200K miles. It’s an amazing car.
My siblings have newer cars with less mileage and they're both starting to think about getting a new car. I'm sitting at 175,000 miles on my 2008 Yaris with basically no issues the entire time. Exactly what I was looking for, it's the best.
I had a 2003 Toyota Echo, same engine maybe the same chassis as yaris with 310,000 miles, gave it to my girlfriend 5 years ago she's completely ruin the exterior with dents all over the front end left and right quarter panels but still still runs great, and has never let us down..
I bought 2007 model brand new. Still have it. Most reliable car I have ever owned.
This car is the ultimate tank. Called vios in almost Asian countries. Unbeatable work horse
I bought my 2007 Yaris S new. 350k miles later it still runs great. Had too replace AC condenser but that’s it! No other issues. THE BEST CAR EVER!
I bought a Yaris in 2008 and put a hundred thousand miles on it in 3 years and the only maintenance I did was oil changes, a battery, and a set of tires. I bought it for $9,000 and 3 years later I sold it for $9,000. That was the only car I have ever owned. Everybody called it the CarD2. Very stable vehicle at traveling the interstate at 80 MPH and still got 40 Mi to the gal.
Adjusting for inflation you only took a $400 loss.
@@michaelb.8953 I didn't lose any money out of it as I got my money's worth out of it. I just got lucky that the market was looking for a good used fuel efficient vehicle during that time.
Here in the Philippines, they call it Vios. They used as Taxi, Police car, fleet cars etc. so durable and reliable
There are a lot of these vehicle in my country and we import them for very good reasons. Its known as the Toyota Vitz (hatchback) where im from. Great compact and realiable car.
Toyota Yaris is called Toyota Vios in the Philippines and currently its the best selling car since 2014 mine is a 2021 model and I love this car it's soo good and a tank build car and it's amazingly comfortable and great car to drive! and low cost maintenance such a great car.! you can literally see Toyota Yaris/Vios everywhere here in the Philippines
Same here in Malaysia. Vios engine is one of the best reliable engines & it even shares it with Daihatsu & Perodua. If you ever heard of Perodua Myvi, that car can even be used as a 4x4 to cross a flooded area!!! It is surely a low cost maintenance car, just make sure there is no leak on the valve cover gasket and that's it.

Excellent…now I want to buy a Yaris!
Could not agree more with you Amd. We currently have about 15 Toyota Yaris cars, not the Mazda made ones, in our small rental company, and considering all the abuse and hard driving that these cars endure daily, it is a miracle that they do not fall apart. These genuine made Toyotas are truly bullet proof.
My wife has a 2008 Yaris. Runs great. No rust.
The most underrated Yaris Hilton.
We live half time in Thailand and have one of these, 1.5L stick shift.
Only problems in 165,000 mikes was replacing both rear wheel bearing hubs.
This is called a Vios in the Philippines and is primarily used as a taxi to this day, it speaks volumes about its reliability.
You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge of Toyota.
My brother bought a new 2007 Yaris sedan. He drove it until 2021. It had 500,398 miles on it when he traded it in on a new Corolla Hatchback. It had the original engine and automatic transmission. He had to replace the fuel pump once and the alternator once. He drained and filled the transmission fluid every 100k. Brakes were done a few times, and the fan belts were as well. It was burning about 1 quart of oil every 3k miles. It was an excellent vehicle. The dealer gave him $200 trade in, polished it up, and had it in their showroom as a half million mile Toyota in Lemon Grove, California....
Thanks for sharing the story. Please ask your brother about his oil change interval and the brand of oil he used.
I forgot to mention that he already has 100k on the 2021 Corolla Hatchback with zero issues and a steady 40 mpg on the freeway....
I bought a 2010 with 100k miles in 2016. It now has 180k miles, zero issues. I would drive it across the USA with no hesitation.
Former owner of 2012 Yaris 4 speed auto with tiny 1.3l 2NZ motor (yes 2NZ not 1.5 1NZ), was great car that i bought it from a rental company.
As you can imagine it was neglected and not maintained before I purchased it, but this thing could never die, i drove it hard and one time i drove into flood, and the water was almost at hood level, and still managed to escape and still ran great.
She never wanted anything except oil and tires and brakes.
Sadly i sold it and got Korean car and I've regretted it ever since.
If you ever drive through water make sure you change the transmission fluid because all transmissions have vents that will allow water inside.
@@Prepare2Survive Thank you, i didn't know about transmissions vents.

They are also called the belta outside of the US. I owned a 2007 version with push to start and keyless entry, way back then before even luxury cars had the feature. Toyota was waaaay ahead of the competition with that and other features. There were ION cabin filters, 4 wheel disk brakes and the list of gifts kept going..

I had a 2002 manual Toyota echo sold it with 130k miles back in 2006 Is probably still driving around.
I'm very happy with my 2007 yaris. And I'm sure you Americans will find strange that it's a turbo diesel with manual transmission. Very common on this side of the world. The thing I love the most is that is cheap to drive. Usually I get 4.5l/100km. Over 50mpg
Great cars. I've owned 2. A 2007 with over 400,000 miles
Currently a 2012 with 75000 miles. All trouble free
I had a coworker who bought a brand new Yaris 2010. Because of money issues, he had to sell it 5 years later with 65k miles on it. I told him not to sell it and I wish I could've bought it.
On the pandemic, he wanted a used reliable city car like a Yaris or Honda Fit but the prices were crazy.
I have Toyota Yaris w a stick shift It is the best forever lasting transportation I ever had
He made it sound like the stick was fragile, any truth to that or have you not had it long?
I absolutely loved the cup holders in front of the dash vents. No really I did, in the summer they would keep drinks. Cool, in the winter they would keep drinks warm.
In other markets, other engine were available. 1.0, 1.3, even 1.8-litre engines could be used. I had a base model 2007 5-door 5-speed manual with the 1.3 for almost 5 years between 2012 and 2017. Very impressed with the various nooks and crannies one could store items. Three gloveboxes was a neat feature. Being the base model it had the all-digital instrument cluster.
I got sick of that cluster so I changed some, check my channel to see what I tried 🤣 first bought a canadian one, then changed the leds to white, then bought one from the 1.8L model because it goes up to 240km/h and had a dimmer
I managed to purchase a 2018 LE hatchback @ 27,00 KM two years ago after much shopping around. Owned by oversea students and never regretted it one bit. My older brother has a 2008 hatchback and still runs like a charm. A keeper for sure. Cheers from West Coast Canada!

We have a 2003 Echo and a 2012 Yaris, both with over 230K and both still going strong!
I have a 2014 Yaris L hatchback at 120k miles and it's been fun driving the guy. Everything works and the very least I can do is upgrade the car in the ways that I want to make it my car.
I had 2 Yaris and I confirm. Is a true gem. Both of them I sold after 200k miles with no issues at all.
100% agree. I have a 2007 Vios (Yaris Sedan) in the Philippines, still original water pump and most internals. Mine was the 1.3L 2NZ-FE. Has 150k+ kilometers which is equivalent hundred k miles of extreme driving conditions cos of standstill traffic and pollution. Major maintenance done was all struts and bushings, radiator due to age, and rear wheel bearing on one side as AMD mentioned. Otherwise everything else still works. Bulletproof reliability.
Had one like yours, 2002 1.3L 4sp auto here in the UK for 13yrs, just replaced the belt, brakes & exhaust. Water pump never done, just used Prestone coolant every 4 yrs & good decent oil (Magnatec 5w30) 49mpg best.
@@tardeliesmagic These things are tanks. I just use OEM coolant for mine it works really well. I use ZIC 5w40 oil for it every 4-5k miles. When my mechanic opened up the valve cover gasket to replace it, the inside looked spanking new.
My mom’s car is a 2007 first gen Yaris, it runs so perfectly that after 17 years she still hasn’t found a car that’s good enough for replacement
2008 Yaris. Love it. Put 70,000 miles on it, and bought it at 106,000 miles. Only have had to replace belt and brakes and tires. The water pump is an issue.
I’m still driving mine, the Malaysian version 2009 Toyota Vios 1.5 AT. 370k km and still going strong.
Same here! Still running strong at 280,000km since 2009. Had it repainted late last year. Love it!
I always liked the front end of these yaris is it looked like it was smiling
I sort of brushed off the Yaris back in the day as being an even cheaper Toyota (and it technically is) but I almost brushed it off as not
going to be very reliable. Funny that now years later (10-15 years later) these cars have proven to be little gems and quite reliable if you took care of them
(as is the case with most cars but Toyotas especially). Sort of wish I had bought one back in 2008 instead of a 2008 Ford Focus in hindsight.
Heck, had I done that, I might still be driving it today....
Mine is 2008, only the basic maintenance never let me down. Still, in 2024, it continues going like the energizer rabbit.
Found a 2007 yaris sedan 5 speed manual with 66K original miles a month ago, snatched it up and have been fixing the bumps and bruises from the previous owner who was a 70 year old gentlemen, I'll probably have this car for at least another decade if I can keep the rust at bay on her, love love love these cars
If the car has not rusted already, there are plenty of reliable rustproofing products to protect it.
I had a Yaris sedan, I think it was a 2008. That 1NZ-FE is a little bulletproof engine. Easy to work on, will give you hundreds of thousands of miles if you take care of it. Some of the Scions also had them. Power output isn't too bad either, considering I used to get 40mpg on the highway, if you keep cruise control at 65mph. If you turn on the A/C you get a little less. But 33mpg in the city was the norm. Any car with this engine is a good buy in my book.
Right people forget that the 1nz is in some scions.
They use an Atkinson cycle LPG variant of the 1NZ(1NZ-FXP) in the JPN Taxi. If its good enough for harsh commercial use, its good enough for me.
@@erikgonzalez2278 1NZFE is in 1st Gen Scion XB
@@broletsdiginasmr5366 I think it's in the Echo too but I'm not sure.
@@justacinnamonbun8658 Yes. Yaris, Echo, Scion XA and Scion XB 1st gen.
I purchased mine in 2009, brand new. Used it way less than most of the people commenting here: only 150,000 km (93,168 miles) over 7 years. Replaced it still "young" because I lived in a "very salty zone" (Montreal - Canada). Took a 2016 Corolla instead, but I have to confess: many times I missed the Yaris. I almost bursted in tears years later when I recognized it at the Ikea's parking lot!
That car is fantastic for commuting; it's a no mistake if you want it for that application.
Bonjour from Ontario. I hope you are having your Corolla rustproofed. Mine is 18 years old and remains rust free because I take it to Krown Rustproofing every year.
@@rightlanehog3151 Bonjour, from Ontario too (now I live in GTA)! Yes, I started with rust proof treatment at Metropolitan (the equivalent of Krown in QC) and I have to continue the treatment here (I missed last year, but will not nap in 2024). Long live to our Corollas (and long good remembrance of my old and loved Yaris). Cheers!

I own its predecessor, the Echo, still running even with the terrible roads we have in Ghana almost 300k miles on.
I installed sound deadening in my 2009 yaris and it transformed the car. The interior noise on highways or in bad weather has massivly dropped and the quality of the not so good sound system improved as well!
Loved the Tercel and loved the Yaris.
I love my 2000 Toyota Echo (Yaris). Great on fuel and small enough to fit in just about any parking space :)
Oh yeah you are right about the rear wheel bearings! Thankfully super easy to replace for the non ABS models as you said. Part was about $45 AUD.
My aunt bought a 2007 Yaris, automatic transmission brand new and she used to commute at least 70 kilometers everyday, every week she had to drive to 4 different towns and some weekends visit her parents on a 300+km trip. She serviced religiously and replaced the water pump. Some collisions, never something serious. Owned it for ten years and sold it because she moved to another country. I drove it before she sold it and it was really smooth even with 300+K km. I've never seen or driven a car as good as that and one an absolute artwork
That’s my car! I have the 2007 1st version one .Very reliable! My mother gave it to me
and neither she, nor myself , had any issues non other than tear and wear ! The car never die unless it’s a battery issue. Once again, tear and wear! Love my Yaris ❤I’m going to buy me either a Camry or Corolla and I’ll keep my reliable Yaris!
Thanks pal... Good stuff as always !! 😊
Only 1 engine?? Here in Europe we have them with 1.0 1.3 1.4d 1.5 and 1.5 Hybrid…
I have a 2016 Hybrid, love this car! Very economical😊
"If you are looking for an exiting car, you are looking at the wrong brand." That is Toyota's mantra. Great video!
I only charge the head gasket last year for my 2007 Yaris. It’s almost 270,000 KLM and it’s running pretty well until today
I've watched many of the videos on this channel and I think this one will be the most useful for the most people.
I own a 07 Manual Sedan Yaris since 2010 with 120,000km, always garaged and I live in a very stable climate. The only thing I have replaced is 1 injector. Brake Pads and clutch are all original. I just do the oil every 10,000km and it never skips a beat. Did its first brake fluid / radiator change last year myself and they both tested fine before the change. Bought a central locking key from eBay and it sync'd right up, added a Carplay/Android Auto headunit, drop in speakers, and an underseat subwoofer. All the rubber parts are still flexible. Makes it hard to be a car nut when your daily just goes forever.
I had the Yaris hatchback with the sport body kit from 2014, I paid $18, 000. Traded it in 2022 they gave me $14,000 so I lost only $4,000. Had 94,000 mi on it zero problems. Only traded it in because we got a big dog and need more room. I currently have 89 pickup with $487,000 mi and yes it burns oil and parts are getting old. Had 2006 Scion xB and that 325,000 mi only normal service and the water pump went out. Had 93 Corolla '97 Corolla all over 350,000 mi with normal wear. All California.
I owned a 2007 Yaris bought it used in 2012. As soon as I test drove the car, I knew it was great car, its drive felt reliable, solid and sturdy. Got it with 75k miles, kept it for 5 years with zero problems, I traded in for a brand new Sentra, just cause I wanted a new car and new technology. But damn my Yaris had a fantastic drive than my Nissan, my Nissan felt too loosely. I had regretted getting rid of my Yaris for quite a while.
Saw a used 2017 Yaris SE manual selling for around $11K back in 2018 with decently low mileage at a dealer, was actually a Toyota corporate employee car...I should've jumped on it when I saw it.
Drove a yaris rental once, felt like I was in a late 90’s corolla, which is a good thing. No frills straight to the point dependability.
My Yaris has the 1.3 2NZFE. Bought it with 39,500kms odo and 8 yrs old. It hasn't let me down yet owned it for 3 months, aside from the fact it's 8 years old and has some scratches and wear on the exterior
i got a 2009 yaris and had it over 10 years. i install an hitch and haul my 4x8 harbofreight folding trailer with sofas, kitchen appliance, washers/dryers, ridding lawn mowers, and other large items. and i even haul it with my 1,000lbs 17ft fiberglass fishing boat @ 45mph with no problem. i was pushing it to the limit. now it has over 200 thousand miles and still rides smooth like the day i got it. never had a problem with it, besides the battery and serpentine belt everything on the engine are original. im glad i made a good investment. its cheap on gas and i will definitely buy again.
