    Love the video! I'm the maker of the PillBottle Stove. You did a great job just using the PillBottle Stones Stove and showing how simple it is. One little change is to put the pot on top of the 2 stone stack and then light it... that way no BTUs get wasted between lighting and setting the pot on top. I have about 200 MREs stashed away and look forward to making some of my own now.

    Could you try Aldi or a gas station? Possibly a fun challenge of budget limit or a parameter change. Could you make a weekend power out kit in light of this wonderful weather? Ran into a situation here with power loss and a family of four. Was prepared so no worries, remember to keep a good amount of water.

      I did Aldi a couple years ago but will likely revisit as it had a different format from these new videos. I’ve had several people ask for a gas station video so I may have to make that happen soon. I do like the idea of a weekender kit. That may happen soon too. Thanks for the great suggestion.

    Nice work with the label. I guess we will be seeing your brand in Military Surplus stores soon.
    What are those little pucks you used to heat the water?
    Also, do you tend to use one particular size of bag to make these? I've been vacuum sealing mine, but they aren't as rugged as the bag type you use.

    • @dadbudgetadventures
      @dadbudgetadventures  7 місяців тому +3

      Thanks! Probably not going to market anytime soon but we will see 😀.
      The cook system is from NeoTrekk (link in description) and the stones are soaked in denatured alcohol. I don’t really show it in the video but I vacuum seal a clear bag and drop it in these Mylar bags for protection from light. I’m not sure what size they are but I really only use the one since it fits the inner package so well.

    Just stumbled across your channel, this was interesting. Our family has a lot of food allergies - gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, and we avoid rice as well, which is a daily challenge since most gluten free products use rice or soy as a replacement for wheat. I cook from scratch with fresh ingredients every day but we still like the occasional convenience food. I frequent the Sprouts in my area so I'll have to challenge myself to create a mre that meets our needs. I already saw your walmart mre video (i found that one 1st) and it would be a similar challenge in that they have less "organic" type items but they also have more products on the shelf as well. Many thanks to you! Glad the algorithm hit me just right. ❤

    I think I missed the cost. Is this your most expensive so far?
    I have two ideas for you. First, build one to a price point. Ex: Make one for $10, no limit on where components come from.
    Two, make your favorite with no limit on where you get components. Keep your same rules in both cases.
