If you go back to 23:33 Abbie says go ahead it was crystal clear I had to ask 3 diffrent people in our house what they heard and all said it was go ahead and OK
I rewatched that part like 10 times lol definitely sounded like “okaaayy” baby steps! Sounds like she’s getting there! I’m proud of all your progress Ab! You’re doing great! ❤️❤️❤️
It's like you need hand prints on a wall up high, so she has something to aim for when she's stretching. It gives the sensation of the stretch and gives a visible goal to try and reach for. Just a thought I use with some children at my school!
catloverKD , and her dad as well! Not that it was a bad thing, but unfortunately she now expects to be tickled every time she raises her arms! I also think that they didn’t do it to her that many times, that we know of, I know we only see a short period of time out of every day, but just those few times have stuck with Abbie and now unfortunately she expects the tickling to happen every time she raises her arms up high! Abbie is one smart cookie who doesn’t forget these things!! It’s going to take her a bit of time and lots of reassurance that they are not going to tickle her when she raises her arms!
That’s why I suggested it in a form of activity, it changes the goal and the view on the activity which is why you would need a visual goal to reinforce it. The tickling thing is really funny and I’m glad it’s shown because sometimes I get told that children with additional needs can’t joke and play around, which is proven here is untrue. 🙂
You don’t have to throw the water beads away. Just let them sit out of the water for a couple of days until the have completely dehydrated. Then you can reuse them later. I have some for my classroom, and it’s nice to not have to repurchase.
Speak involved many process at same time as neurones, muscles, hemisphere connection, comprehension of meaning. Unfortunately she can't process all of them atm, Asa has explained already in a old video. She's actually mimic sounds, that is cool as well, but different
I'm praying for her to speak verbally. I think she's gonna be speaking it might be a while. I have a friend who has a severe brain injury and doctors told her mom that she's never going to be able to speak because of it. She's able to speak.
The fact that Abbie had a hard time with recognizing the coins, but was able to complete 5 body language tasks later with no problem just shows she needs more practice with it and will be able to do it in no time!!
I like your comment Because it's true whatever that was it's hopefully a sign of improvement because I've never heard this sound/word before in the vlogs I hope the best for her

I haven’t watched you guys since quarantine started here in VA. This is the first.... been a depressing couple of months not being with family and friends. Hearing her say what sounds like “Okay” and watching everyone’s reaction was the bright spot I needed after all this time. I couldn’t stop smiling! Love you guys! Thanks for being out there for us.
That sound of ok was so clear and so appropriate to the situation. I loved the hair you did today, we don’t have spirit week in the uk but it looks so much fun, if I remember rightly did Isaiah win best school spirit last year? I loved that Abbie helped her brother with the dishes.
I can tell she’s not unintelligent. That’s the thing with autism. People think they’re dumb and that’s the furthest from the truth you could possibly get. You look at her face and there are completely intelligent thoughts going on. Completely normal thoughts if not more complex thoughts going on due to not being able to verbally ask for the simplest things. And it’s a big thing when a simple word comes out of her mouth because it shows she’s capable of it. She does look like she has fine motor issues but a lot of people do as well. Should she ever get depressed about her situation she should know she is a unique individual who has so much to offer this world
Mike Hunts wild ride Yes you're 💯% right they know more than people think they know my Son is mildly autistic and he is smart as a whip he shocks me sometimes love y'all and y'all do a awesome job with Abbie
Many people, that are not neurotypical, are often seen as less intelligent. It is a very common misconception. In my experience as a PT, I have found with a varied of disabilities extremely intelligent. The ability to speak is not always an indicator.
Lost my parish priest to heart issues earlier this week and just found out a close cousin has the virus who’s in New York but seeing your crazy hair brightened my day. Thank you for that.
Hello all of you amazing people. I am watching from the Netherlands. I just found your channel. Just wanted to say that i have much respect on how you handle her autisme while living at home. She has the best live possible. Do not ever get the haters to your hearts. Because watching all the love she gets in your family is a joy to watch.
I seriously kept rewinding the video to hear Abbie's version of OKAAAYYY!!! I agree she sounded like she said it. Made my heart smile. LOVE it and so glad it was caught in the vlog. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face everyday.
Such a cute vlog. Loved it when Abby asked for a break and then looked at Asa and used her sounds but it sounded like “okay” it made my heart swell. Thank you for letting us into your lives.

I watched half of this video a couple days ago and began to watch the other half today and I forgot it was crazy hair for spirit week 😂 and when cila came out at 18:25 I died laughing 😂😂😂
I had to re-watch her say "okay"! So cute! It's amazing to watch your videos and see how much she progresses over time! Thanks for the daily positivity 😊
WHAT? I’ve only seen the first minute or so but that is amazing! I’m so excited for her, and I’m so excited for you guys, even if it was a coincidence.
Ok, this is seriously the cutest vlog ever!!! So many things!!! First, everybody’s hair!! You all did amazing! Pricilla, your hair has to win, hands down! Abbie’s hair with the toilet paper was one of the cutest and funniest things I have seen in a long time! But, I think you all did such a great job on your hair and it gave me so many laughs! So, thank you! Then, Abbie with her “OK” !!!! That was just perfect, amazing and yet also made me laugh from happiness! Whether she actually meant to say it or not, it was still pretty awesome, along with all of your reactions to it! I just love these moments! I had to watch it over and over! When Abbie and Asa were playing with the water beads in the kitchen and Abbie was so smiley and laughing, it was just so sweet to watch. Smiles and laughter are infectious, and I just love to see your sweet girl so happy, even if she might have been hamming it up for the camera, it was still smiles and lots of cuteness. Just a gorgeous vlog, full of lots of feel good moments. I think this is one of my favourites and I will definitely be watching this one again the next time I’m feeling down or if I just need something to pick me up! Thank you guys. I love you all, you feel like friends after watching you every single day for a while now! It’s my birthday tomorrow (Saturday 18th) , I’m in Australia, so we are a day ahead of you, but it’s going to be a very quiet, non-event for me this year. But, I always have your vlog to look forward to and I really enjoy and appreciate that one constant in my life. So, thank you Maass family and Summer! You guys are the best. 😜 😘 💜
That was awesome!! To hear Abbie mock Asa and Isaiah was just amazing and to put those sounds together....Wow! She is just making strides even from just six months ago. She was pretty on point and making alot of eye contact and hamming it up for the camera so cute. Keep it up Abbie your smile is contagious and you make me smile everyday so thank you!!❤❤
I love Abbie’s hair in low pigtails like that, like after the TP was taken off haha. She looks like such a teenager. Y’all make me to happy to watch. Thanks for giving me something to do during these endless times. ❤️

I love it. It makes things fun and I dig it!
I'm having a mini marathon. It's been 4-5 years since I've had time to watch. I remember praying for you guys and I had a horrible weekend with my autistic son and was so down. You guys have re-inspired me. I often think I just want to give my son his best life possible. Seeing Abbie so happy tells me that's just what you guys have done! I am a single momma, but I also know another one who has 2 autistic children and is a single momma. The struggle is real. It's taken a physical & emotional toll on me but this has been therapy for me to watch you guys again. I salute you guys for your amazing gift to share these moments with us. My son is no longer non verbal. I constantly showed him things and told him to say them or told him to ask. Keep trying I've heard Abbie say thank you and at least 3 other words in these few videos. It's very guttural but she's saying it. So try working with her on projecting her voice, throat exercises, singing and I'm praying God will minister beautifully to her and open her voice. God bless your family. Let's keep praying for all these kids to heal.
Try even neck, head exercises just simple stuff like her tilting her head back and forward. Side to side. I think with her chin up high the higher tone of her voice may be more likely to project.
I can feel her apprehension thinking she's going to be tickled when her arms are up hahah. Really looks like she is making some amazing progress!! Go Team!
Teacher here! For learning money, make all the snacks that abbey wants cost a dime. Have her give you a dime to get the snack. She can pick out the dime from the group of coins. Don’t switch to a new coin until you know she has the dime identification down! Also if she looks like she’s not sure, show her another dime and allow her to fine the match! That counts!
I just love your vlogs.. I started watching them as I was interested so see your day to day life with Abbie. I have worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for 22 years, which is what drew me to your channel initially... HOWEVER.. after watching a few vlogs I was hooked for a million other reasons... I love your family dynamics and the village of people that love and work with Abbie. Thank you for sharing ideas that I can share with my families...the best part of the video today was Abbie saying "okaaaay".. I just got so excited!
I feel Abby is quite smart actually, doesn’t mean anything that she can’t verbally speak. Seems like she has quite a very, caring and supportive family too!
I love the hair!! Your family is so fun and the way you laugh together is amazing. Your teaching your kids what love and what a great couple looks like. You have turn a struggle of autism into your strength. Everyone with a Autistic child should follow you and see how great life will be with love, understanding and a sense of humor!!
I just started it and i had to stop because I was laughing so hard. Thank you for that I so needed it. Yall look great. I wish my family would do stuff like that with me.
I love that Isaiah was like “can you talk...” because now he’s onto her LOL 😂 “running away from the truth” I can’t that’s so funny!
Hi there miss you guys
I love how she cannot contain how funny she finds her parents hair
Such the typical teenage girl "okay!" That did not sound like 1 of her typical sounds. That sounded like the word!
Jess Reese agreed!!
Agreed!
I was just as shocked as them! Ahhaha
I totally agree Jess Reese that did sound like the she said “okay!”

Go Team!
Love the sticky note idea! (Sticking matching colors around items at the house!) Thanks for sharing!
14:03 SO ADORABLE
I can't stop watching it. I just keep rewinding it and it makes me smile every time ❤️❤️

“Okkkkkkkkkkkkaaaa- make it sound like I cant say it”
I LOVE you guys! Recently subscribed and can't wait to spend my whole weekend watching your videos! sending love from Newcastle, UK x
I feel Abby is quite smart actually, doesn’t mean anything that she can’t verbally speak. Seems like she has quite a very, caring and supportive family too!
Abbie is so smart! She knows when she puts her arms up someone will tickle her!!! Love you abbie!!!
I LOVE everyone’s hair. So great.
Hearing Abbie's distinctive "okay" warmed my heart
Thank you Maass Squad for putting a smile on my face and even made me lol a few times. Been struggling and I needed this. Thank you and stay well.
