My Super Cub is still standard out of the show room but i think the first thing i do will be a side stand and front Sprocket. I dont do any miles to have a wind screen only around town trips etc. Loving the mods and the OCD bit with your wind screen being out dont blame you for swapping over.
The Givi screen might have been tolerable with only one of those issues... either a little bit out of true, or the turbulence... but not both. I might fix that mount sometime in the future and cut the screen down about 2-3" to reduce the turbulence. Otherwise, I think the Asahi screen looks MUCH better. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Agreed! I rode the entire trip looking at that top-right corner and wanting to bend it into shape... it drove me nuts. The odd thing is that the screen was actually causing an uneven push on the bars and making the bike track slightly off... I had to dial in a bit of countersteer to keep the bike on center. The Cub is very light, so it doesn't take much to alter its trajectory. 😉👍 --QM
Howdy, Christopher! I purchased a set of black anodized fillers from Amazon: amzn.to/3sUWGIV . There are lots of options available on Amazon, but those are the highest rated ones. You just need M10x1.25 for the size. Cheers! 👍 --QM
I was riding some back roads a few weeks ago. And came across two riders pacing the ditches. I stopped to ask. One of them had the same phone set up mount. He too lost his phone. In total 4 of us paced and paced looking for it. We eventually found it. Is there not a annoying rubber clasp that goes over the front of the phone to hold it on. I know it obstructs the screen a bit. The other option is look for a ROK mount case holder for it. They look better than that X Ram holder. I mean it's holding a $600-800 phone. #JustSayin
Another viewer, @Michael Burnside, turned me on to a really nice ADV mount from Hondo Garage: shop-hondogarage.com/collections/phone-mounting-systems-motorcycle/products/juiced-squeeze-wireless-charging-phone-mount . It's spendy, but looks bomb proof and it has Qi wireless charging built into the mount. I think I'll give that a try on my next project bike. --QM
Howdy, Frank! The Asahi Short Visor does a good job of breaking up airflow around my torso, so it does have a functional role on the Cub aside from the aesthetics. I recently toured my Cub nearly 10K miles around the USA behind this screen and I didn't have any real complaints. I did wish for a bit more wind coverage at times, but I was still able to duck down behind the screen to get better aerodynamics when needed. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Sorry for the late reply... I've been out on motocamping adventures and then back to the crazy work week. Here are the CRG items that I ordered for my Super Cub. Note that I purchased these items from Amazon in the USA, so they may be less expensive in the UK (I believe that CRG is based on your side of the pond): (Qty 2) CRG Internal Bar ENd Mirror Adapter: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000K7JD92 (Qty 1) CRG Hindsight LS Left (Black HSLS-200-L): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041CC3YE (Qty 1) CRG Hindsight LS Right (Black HSLS-200-R): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041C94TG These CRG mirrors are 3" in diameter and the mounting adapters fit typical 7/8" bars (12-19mm). The removal of the factory inner bar weights was a bit tricky, but not impossible (e.g. hard to accomplish without damaging the OEM grips glued onto the bars). I reused the internal weights after removing the locking clip and then screwing the inner weight onto the end of the CRG bar-end adapter bolt thread. I also used thread lock and a few turns of electrical tape to prevent the pair from backing out or separating under vibration. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Certainly! Here is a direct link to the Japan Webike site: japan.webike.net/products/23952404.html . You can watch my install video here: ua-cam.com/video/O-06y9YDLec/v-deo.html . There are more details in that video's description about the Asahi screen. Cheers! 👍 --QM
QuasiMotard Tempted to chop in. My as new 2007 Vespa GTS 250 with only 6k on for one of these but would it be worth the drop in performance just to have the quirky new kid on the block My other concern is the amount of tight fiddly plastic to remove without marking paint
I added that to the video description, but I'll link it here as well: japan.webike.net/products/23952404.html . You can watch my original install video on the Asahi screen here if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/O-06y9YDLec/v-deo.html . Cheers! 👍 --QM
I didn't realize many people consider the Honda Cub a scooter. I always thought it was a trail bike. I don't know how you can stand commuting on it. I would much rather use the PCX
After watching yours, and others, for a while I ended up getting one a couple of weeks ago. Still only riding when I can as I have been busy but it's got right at 100 miles on it. I did order the Givi screen so we'll see. I also saw the Puig ones on WeBike but the image isn't the greatest. It comes in different heights but not sure if I like the looks. Also going to do the Givi E370 case on the back and add both the Givi and Admore lights. May try the blue top insert for it as I think it's close to the blue on the Super Cub. Just looking for a toy to and around on and commute to work occasionally. Have you ridden in the rain yet? I got caught today and a light downpour and found the stock tires get a little unstable around 50 on a wet road. Not uncontrollable but you do need to keep on top of it. Question on your PCX. What windscreen do you use. Looking to get one as the wife wants to ride around and try out 2 wheels. Figured it would be a good way for her to see if she likes it or not. If not I can always commute on it or sell it as I plan on getting a NC750X next year anyway. Thanks
I just wanted to reply to my own post. I got the Givi windscreen through Twisted Throttle and it was dropped shipped from Givi USA. Strange since they told me, when contacted them, they don’t carry the windscreen for the Super Cub in the US. I did scratch the paint lightly above my headlight because I didn’t put a cloth down. A light sand with 3000 grit sandpaper and a buf with a light compound will fix that. Anyway, the one I got was dead straight when I installed it. Not sure why the bracket Quasi was getting was not right. Maybe they had an issue and finally figured it out. I know it didn’t work for you Quasi but it did help me. That being said I am a larger framed guy at 5’11” and the wind buffeting at more than 45 I could tell was impacting going faster. The windscreen really helped with that. I get buffeting above it but at my height it’s right around the neck and doesn’t really bother me. Just goes to show why some things work for some folks and not others. Been having a blast and at 130 miles I am feeling it begin to loosen up. I also found it likes mid-grade non-ethanol gas. Seems to be the right mix to give it some extra juice and still keep the economy.
Sorry for the late reply, Jeff! I've been riding and working like crazy for the past couple of weeks. I'm glad that you found a fit for you, and congrats on your new Super Cub! They are such fun little bikes. Yes, I agree on the tires... the are a bit sketchy over wet surfaces. I plan to replace mine sometime soon, but I haven't researched the options quite yet. I have two different screens on my PCX150's: the Givi D1136ST on my 2015, and the National Cycle VStream Sport Touring Windscreen. The Givi is shorter and sportier, but the NC VStream offers a lot more coverage. 👍 --QM
Agreed! Rider height makes a huge difference in how well a particular windscreen makes. I will probably cut my Givi screen down a couple of inches to move the wind terminus to below my shoulders... that should fix the buffeting issue for me. Congrats again on the Cub... it's a fun bike! 👍 --QM
Howdy, Curt! I don't know if other Givi screens have that warped behavior. However, I purchased TWO of these Givi screens, and both of them were out of alignment. I tried mixing and matching parts from both kits to arrive at a workable solution, but it was never straight. Yes, the mounting kits were sold separately from the screen. That made the whole affair even more disappointing. The Asahi Short Visor and the PUIG Traffic screens seem to be much higher quality solutions. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
That's a tough decision because they are each fun in their own ways. The Cub is great for buzzing around town or taking leisurely rides on the back highways... and it's VERY efficient. The Ryker is more entertaining when I'm in the mood to twist the wrist and terrorize traffic a bit... it really hustles. The one drawback for both of them is that neither one is very good at long-distance highway chores. I've pushed both of them into that task (just because I'm not afraid of a challenge), but it's a chore to ride either of them for more than a few hours at a time. My 2014 Honda CB500X is probably my favorite all-around bike in the stable because it can go anywhere, anytime, and with less effort (more comfort) than the other bikes. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Hi. Love your videos about the Cub. I Also got a Cub2009 C110. Just quick question. What kind of liquid you’re using on the bolt when you’re installing the screen ?
Thanks for the feedback! The blue liquid is thread lock gel. It hardens into a thick paste that prevents the screws or bolts from loosening easily under vibration. 👍 --QM
Actually, yes! I have used Rokform mounts (similar to QuadLock) on my bicycles and motorcycles for many years. I just installed the QuadLock mount on the Super Cub and a couple of other bikes just recently. I already have RAM ball mounts on the bikes, so I just purchased the QuadLock ball mount to replace the X-grip portion. That way I still retain the flexibility of the ball mount for positioning or fitting other mounts whenever necessary. Now I'm just waiting for the QL USB charge mount adapters to get off of back-order... I need a few of those to tidy up the wiring. 👍 --QM
Quasi, i just want to thank you for your library of videos on the super cub. your videos are the most discoverable and easy to follow.
Thanks for the feedback! 👊😉👍 --QM

The smaller screen just looks a lot better. I also could not deal with the crocked givi one. It is a hard life when you are OCD

I have a Givi windscreen on my Piaggio but to long & the factory windscreen is missing from dealer! Mr. Aaron 🍻
Thank you for the video. How is the Asahi wingscreen working? Does it deflect enough wind?
It looks like that you have to remove the screen to change the brake fluid?
What plugs do you use for the mirrors?

Does the Asahi block wind fairly well? I definitely like the look better but it seem pretty low to do much.. Your thoughts?

@@QuasiMotard Hi, do you have a video where you show how you installed the usb power cable?
As far as I'm concerned this is unforgivable. These add ons are expensive plus all the time you have spend on installation. It's frustrating.
Sorry about the windshield, that why you don't anything but USA made parts.
