I think it’s worth noting that monopolies are always bad for consumers in the long term. I’m very apprehensive about Microsoft’s very aggressive acquisitions recently, we don’t want another Disney on our hands
Thing about monopolies, nobody cares about them unless they are really bad, and even then when they are broken up they are owned by the same group making it useless or they become an oligarchy
Also It would be nice helped the indie scene in gaming If they treat indie gaming as a goldmine for passion and without the corporatist view then this could be a big W for gaming as a whole, especially when you think xbox could provide the streaming service on mobile This might be a pipe dream
I really dont care about blizzard, but this is straight up bad. Microsoft (or anyone in general) becoming even bigger of a monopoly is never a good thing
On one side, I hate consolidations and monopolies because of what they mean to the industry On the other, Activision Blizzard was in such a desperate state that at this point, Phil Spencer taking over is a lot better than whatever the fuck Bobby Kotick is doing
It really isn't so. Even with this purchase, Xbox is still only the third largest gaming brand once it comes to profitability, still sitting behind Sony and Tencent. Buying Activision does not in any way shape or form inhibit others from competing
@@baitreview I fail to understand, as one of three massive corporations which essentially are buying up almost any game studio they can, it seems to be acting as such, either buying out possible competitors or leaving aforementioned competitors to fight in what's honestly not the videogame market, if your game doesn't get much initial recognition (which most name-brand companies provide, however there are exceptions), odds are, it never will.
@@dotplusdot5961 Microsoft has recently only made two major acquisitions in the form of Bethesda and Activision. These two are NOT essential for competition, meaning that acquiring both of them would hardly strike the FTC as a monopoly. If Microsoft were to buy a couple more companies within the near future then they could find some trouble, but even then it would be unlikely considering how gaming is an industry considered to be very easy once it comes to introducing new competition

If they make tf3 i will be mad if the original tf2 items are not included there.so its basically a new game but with old items that can bothe bebused for tf2 and tf3
Sony set to lose $260 million a year if Call of Duty goes Xbox exclusive, & are praying MS will honor Activision's existing contractual obligations and keep specific games coming to PlayStation...
Why are you saying this as if you WANT tf2 on the gamepass? Why should we want anything on gamepass, why should we want to give more and more money and power to a single mega corporation, and why should we move even further away from being able to actually OWN our games
He's not talking about MS buying TF2, that most likely won't happen. He's saying this purchase of Blizzard will shock Valve into putting more time in their already existing, and possibly future games. It would be pretty dumb of Valve to do nothing about this, but only the future will tell. Edit: And also, if they do buy TF2, then we should accept that. We can't just complain about how TF2 is dying and then proceed to pass up the biggest opportunity that can revive the game. I dislike the current state of TF2 and will take any chance to have it brought back.
