    I would love to see a video outlining how you "fix" the emission for the ram 6.7. I think a lot of out here don't want to race our trucks just want to ensure best mpg and longevity of the truck. It seems like you have done just that with yours. Specifics on kits, products, tunes etc. Love your videos keep em coming!

    Paul the cummins actually has tighter tolerances and fits because of its compression is higher than power strokes and duramaxs so this is why fully synthetic is used because of the much higher combustion temps. Mopar takes delivery of cummins with conventional oil by the way until the 2019 year models now cummins puts full synthetic in now. Regardless of the 5 or 15 the most important thing to do is if you drive less than 80% highway change that oil every 6,000 miles because of soot. As the greater the stop and go driving the greater the soot amounts in the oil. Thanks egr and epa.

    Shell Rotella T all the way. Don't touch that shifter until you see that temp needle move. And then move out slowly until the engine builds some heat. My Cat in my Kenworth never needs plugging in but my John Deere tractors love being plugged in.

    One reason not to hammer down on a cold or not properly heated boosted engine is the head may warp. The metals heat and expand at different rates, add ~30PSI of boost to that mix, and there will be unneeded stress on the parts. I wait till ~190 or so before I pull or drive normal (or hard).

    I keep my 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins plugged in on a timer from midnight until 8am at home year round. Otherwise I start the truck and warm it to between 115-130 coolant temp before driving if at all possible. If I have to roll faster I will at 100 but I take it easy until it warms up.
    I always let the turbo cool to below 400 before shutting the truck down.

    Great information as usual brother! I do all these things same as you. I just this year started using the winter front on my truck and so glad I did. Before, my coolant temps were all over the board and wasn't able to get much heat in the cab. Now my truck warms up much quicker and the coolant temp is way more consistent. Also I have plenty of heat in the cab.

    you don't wanna turn off a turbo diesel truck when its hot because the oil will cook inside the turbocharger. you want the oil to cycle to cool off the engine and more importantly the turbocharger. diesel turbochargers can run double the temperature of your engine easily (most run about 400-450 degrees) which will cook the oil to the inside of the oil passages in your turbo.

    • @classicxl
      @classicxl 5 років тому +2

      Results of not letting the oil cool down before shutting engine off ,are a possibility of a early death to your turbo .bearings and other parts of the turbo can fail and Turbos are cheap 2k and up . I always let my Jetta tdi and 12. Valve idle for 30 seconds to 1 min before shut down

    Paul, if your reading comments, I’ve got a video idea for you. I’m considering starting a HS business in TN and hiring drivers. How do you pay your HS driver? A break down would be nice such as mileage or stop pay, tarping pay. Or do you pay off percentage of the load? Do you offer health insurance and 401 to them? Also curious how you pay your big rig drivers too. That’s a video I’d like to see soon as you can do it. Thanks :)

    Hello, I'm just viewing this video. I'm new as of June of this year to the diesel world. I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 ecodiesel. I'm viewing your video as winter is approaching and I'm concerned about fuel gelling. Thinking also about engine block heater which is expensive. I don't live in a climate that gets single digit or negative temperatures. However, 20's-30's will be frequent, your advise regarding block heater or fuel additives. Will block heater prevent gelling or only help with oil temps and smooth startups

      I work for a few large companies, Cable, Electric and Out-House places. They prefer gas trucks over diesels. Lower up-front cost, lower operating costs, lower maintenance costs, Lower Fuel costs, lower cost fixes when things break. One owner told me they had nothing but expensive repairs with Diesel Trucks (FORD and RAM). Injector failure for example. The employees that drive the trucks could care less about the company truck, so they get abused. Most of the fleets have a short usable life span, 3 to 6yr. The trucks tend to stay in the towns, so no long driving. And the trailers they tow are small. They have larger 5500 RAMs for pulling the heavy tractors. He would like to not have that though, as the driver needs a special license, and taxes are higher on the larger trucks. HD Gas trucks have a place in the market. I personally drive a Diesel.

Oil pressures were always good but I did switch to 5-40 synthetic on my truck this winter hoping the oil will reach the bearings easier in the extreme cold. @Marshall Davis I'm in Maine, and it's normal for us to see a couple of weeks straight of 10 degrees and below. The only time I've ever had issues with geling up is old fuel, or a truck that isn't ran very often. Sometimes with Off-Road fuel if it's not mixed with k1.
      Anti gel has its place but it's a waste of $ if the truck is used regularly and it has good fuel in it.
