When Gibby was still very young and young looking he was always taking his shirt off but once he was older that running gag stopped
As weird as it was, it actually made him a breakout character.

Even as a kid, I noticed that there was an unusual amount of bare feet/closeups on toes in iCarly and Victorious (though obviously I had no idea why) and when I re-watch it knowing what Dan was motivated by... yeah it's extra weird and noticeable.
I think a much bigger issue though is the pressure on the girls who were in all of these shows to be really skinny- Jennette McCurdy has talked about her having an eating disorder due to the entertainment industry she was involved in, and I think some of the other girls from the Nick shows have talked about how they were expected to be really slim and to look good.
I know right, I wasn’t an avid watcher of the show but sometimes when I was bored I sit and watch and was always weirded out by the whole feet thing

It's more likely that there were told to be slim so they would look young, I bet. That's often the case when the main characters of kids shows grow older over a long period of seasons. And we'll, maybe Dan liked them better like that *vomits*

As a young girl, I never thought 25 was old, even at age 13. I dated an 18 year old and said the highest I would go was 25...I am now 28, and I can't believe how YOUNG 13-18 really is....I would never take advantage of someone of that age, like older guys did to me?????? The dude KNEW better, I know it. If I could tell all the girls just how old and gross these guys are I would :(
And that's the reason why parents or teachers or older friends have the last word until we become of a certain age. Because it's just true that you aren't fully developed at that time and can't protect yourself because you don't know the danger. You will not notice it.

The age gap in Hollywood is definitely an issue. One of the worst ones to come to mind is Drew seeley and Selena Gomez during another Cinderella story. He was 25 and she was 15.

That's extremely creepy that the writing staff of iCarly, presumably a show about a young girl, is written by a bunch of grown middle aged men.
They really ruined this show, and *gasp* people actually overpraise it while glossing over its many bad qualities that overshadow the things it does right sometimes.

Another good example of a minor being paired up with an adult and having to act out adult situations is Another Cinderella Story. Selena Gomez was 15 and Drew Seeley was 25. Once I found that out the movie is so weird to me.
He was apparently too old to play Troy Bolton because Vanessa was 18 but they put Selena in that position?? Disgusting.

Also, random, but Mila Kunis was super young when she first kissed Ashton on that 70's show, and I have just witnessed ever since I was a kid, that they have a super toxic relationship, on and off, seem super unhappy.. and I do believe it is because she was so young, he got ahold of her and has manipulated her and brainwashed her ever since. @@emmaconnolly4681 I have a sad feeling that it is the same on most of these kids shows whether Nick or Disney. I'm 35 so my shows were Mickey Mouse Club, So Weird, Eerie Indiana and those kinds of shows BUT it breaks my heart to think that this type of abuse has literally been around since the beginning of the entertainment industry. I'm glad victims have the platform that we do in 2021 to come forward. The more we talk about it, the stronger victims get. 💙

I've gone thru my own struggles with addiction and ED and SA and I can't imagine being famous and having to keep these types of things secret or to just not be able to defend yourself. It must be so dehumanizing and I realllllly hope that all these victims coming forward and with people like Sloan that we are helping to break this gross cycle and everyone from kid to adult is more protected from here on out and parents stay vigilant. Praying to Mother Earth that all the victims get the justice they so deserve and all the assulters pay for what they've done.

I looked up the production of The Karate Kid III. The producers rewrote the love interest between Robyn Lively and Ralph Macchio's characters as a friendship because she was only 16 during filming. It was released after she turned 17 in 1989. Of course, Ralph and Robyn probably agreed that their characters remain friends. Or that Daniel's crush on Jessica is mostly one sided on his end.

Today, as a 35 year old mother to an 11 year old daughter I see it COMPLETELY different. Not to mention all the abuse behind the scenes we didn't know about until recently. It makes me so sick.

I was also an adult when this show was new, I’m a few years older than you, and my youngest sibling watched this one and so many others that Sloan discusses. I was totally oblivious at the time, but now as a parent, I wish I had been more aware of the nastiness! Can’t imagine what these poor young actors endured on that set. Screw D.S.!

It also makes me think of the abuse OUR teen idols/kids on our shows/movies/singers probably endured and it makes me feel slightly guilty for the enjoyment I got when all those poor kids were probably going through hell. This stuff has been going on since the beginning of the entertainment industry and thank goodness for these victims for coming forward and thank goodness for people like Sloan who bring awareness to these atrocities.

@@reptilequeen4720 @riverdale I feel awful for what the network did to Jeannette mccurdy, Alexa nikolas (the actress that played Nicole on zoey 101), Gibby/Noah (making the running gag of him being shirtless constantly), and any other victims of dan’s writing. When I was a kid I just thought it was random/odd and somewhat funny. Now at 25 I see how messed up it was. But I’m going to watch 1 episode of the reboot and be the judge myself. Hopefully the new team will make it nothing like the old show.
I was watching my daughter watch sam and cat yesterday and I noticed that wherever they're snacking on stuff it's always hot dog related or nut related, cat dipping hotdogs in vanilla pudding,sam covering a hotdog in peanut butter and calling it a weiner nut or something like that..... Or they're wrestling and falling over each other, Sam laying in the couch with her legs open in a weird position etc..... Definitely lots of weird stuff
There's also bras in Sam and cat's room randomly hanging around....
@@camilleelise7330 granted by the time that show came out Ariana and Jeanette were in their 20s and yes they were portrayed as a couple with loads of innuendos but they were well above age at that point and I do love that show, just wouldn’t recommend it to young kids lol

On the show “Shameless” Cameron Monaghan was 16 I believe and Noel fisher was 26. They played love interests and it’s crazy to see that no one really talks about when it’s a male but people do make bigger deals when it’s an underage girl with an older guy.

The late 90s and early 00s were the "Kids love gross things, right!?" era. That's why so many live action shows and cartoons were so disgusting at times, and Nickelodeon was basically the king of gross-out humor (hence the prevalence of the Nickelodeon Slime).

You know, I auditioned to be on nickelodeon shows like Icarly and victorious when I was eight. And I got accepted, but my mom didn't want to pay for me to go. For once, I'm grateful for my mom being so cheap. I had a good childhood and I just wished all these child stars could've had the same

I could never really decide if I was over reacting although I did think it was weird. I commented something similar on one of your previous videos: the reason they use goatsmilk and vinegar is because foot fetishists are often pulled towards smelly things involved with the feet. Best represented by an episode of King of the Hill where Peggy Hill is pulled into being a model for a foot fetish website. She was instructed to stomp on rotten eggs and rotten gourds.
Goats milk is smellier than cow milk. Cow milk is relatively scentless until it goes bad. Goat milk and vinegar can both be stored for a while and have some bad smell by nature.

So, I guess one thing you should know is that, when you’re not an adult yet, they send the script to the guardian, and they have to approve what’s in it before taping the show... so the guy couldn’t really stand up and say how weird it is since Miranda’s guardian already gave the ok... it doesn’t get any less creepy, I know... but the production and the actors and everyone is in it

Bruh, there was an episode of ICarly where they were lifting their shirts in the lobby. They were obsessed with having Gibby shirtless. There are a lot of questionable moments on these shows, but I can't list too many because I'll be here all night.
It's one thing to make a few PG jokes to make the show more tolerable to older people, but there's a limit!

I remember when I was in High School and college the kids I used to babysit would watch iCarly...I always got a very uncomfortable feeling from the show...I think I could tell that the child actors were being exploited and there was clearly a lot of dark and scary stuff looming under the surface of a "fun and quirky nickelodeon show"...I tried to show the kids shows from my childhood like That's So Raven and Hey Arnold and Pepper Ann but they just wanted to watch iCarly...I also wondered why their parents allowed them to watch the show....
The squirrel scene is pretty harmless imo, pretty much all kids shows have adult jokes like that
Jason Earles who played Jackson on Hannah Montana was 30 playing a 16 year old. Miley was 11.. I know they were only brother and sister, but it’s still odd if you think about it. I’m guessing since Billy Ray was there for Miley, it was “okay.”

I wonder of they were aware of this back then or now that they're older they've realized something wasn't right.
The worst example I know of this is 14-year old Kristen Stewart in the movie “Speak” kisses a man who is 23!!!! And yes the entire movie is about how he r-worded her. And guess what? He was sent to 15 years in PRISON for MURDER in 2018.

The first time I saw iCarly I was an adult and couldn't believe how sexual it was. It's subtle but sometimes it was so blatant I thought that the jokes were put in for adults watching with kids but it's a show for teens and they would probably get the jokes.
