For example, his classic, "if you're a (fill in the blank) I'm a Mau Mau fighter pilot!" It works brilliantly because the last four words have lots of hard syllables. He can spit them out from between his teeth. It takes timing to the nanosecond. Only the greats have that kind of timing. Bill Cosby had exquisite timing. Like an atomic clock on steroids.
Everything you see Rickles doing here has been done a thousand times. The same thing, but slightly different each time.
Genius.
*”Is this too fast Ronny?”* 😂
Don Rickles has one of the best deliveries of comic material in the world.. Even if what he says is not so funny, the way he says it always is.. He is a comedic genius

Don Rickles did the first OG "drop the mic"!
Yep haha 🤣🤣🤣
That is exactly what I was about to write out when I saw your post. LOL
He's the king that's why LEGEND
This was typical of Don Rickles he would make fun of you to no end. Then display his class and sincerely wish you the best. He was class integrity and humour all in one.
And a devoted husband to one woman for 52 yrs until the day he died
Unlike today's comedians who seem full of hate, one always got the impression that if you got roasted by Don Rickles it's because he actually liked you. People saw it as an honor to be the butt of his jokes.
Don considered this to be the highlight event of his career, and rightfully so.
The Elizabeth Taylor line is absolutely hilarious, and the fact that it just came out of nowhere made it even better.
Except that the “killing snakes” line is interesting. Reagan was rumored to have had a casting couch encounter with a young Elizabrth Taylor, according to her authorized biography by Darwin and Prince....
Well thank you for pointing that out. Much appreciated.
Just hysterical!! He roasts them but does it with respect & class. No vulgarity. A true pro.
rickles was the most lude crude rude and funny roaster yet somehow always managed to top off a show w the most graceful and elegant salute.
"Lude"? Who said anything about sedatives?
"Is he laughing?" LMAO
Now I know where Norm Macdonald got that idea for his Bill Clinton roast
Jeff Ross did it too at the Emmet Smith roast
The POTUS!!! And Rickles tears him apart……when he dropped the 🎤 microphone, I couldn’t help but laugh ……goes to show that Rickles was on a very different level…..although we all know that Reagan and Rickles was friends from way back, it didn’t stop Rickles from tearing Reagan apart…….just some funny as shyt!!!
Dropping the mic before it was a thing..
Damn right, legendary
Every generation thinks it invented everything.
Mic drop!
Should throw the mic as hard as he can at someone in the audience. Maybe someday it will be a thing.
I'm pretty sure this is the earliest mic drop iv seen.
Notice how everyone was able to laugh at themselves? Good times
Bro, they were globalists back then just like they are now
Even 8 years ago people were able to laugh at themselves. I think the whole "im [insert superficial interest group here] and I'm offended" thing exploded in like 2015, whenever the left started embracing PC culture wholeheartedly

And then Rickles would have something cheeky to say to St. Peter.

Can we all take a minute to appreciate the stage work. To do that act on a 360 degree stage and have it recorded it pretty impressive.
Don Rickles was one of the true greats in comedy. It's a rare gift to be able to hilariously insult people with everyone joyfully knowing it's just a gag. He never used the word "hate." Today hating is all the rage. People are in a blazing hurry to be offended by even the most inconsequential things in a sad attempt to make themselves feel relevant.
