as a guy whos played neos since january 2021 and later resonite in late 2023, this game and its community has been always supportive, fun, caring, often loving at times, and ive made tons of friends over the years in it. i do recommend the game for many others. i think the first thing that got me into it was the easy ways of making a world within its built-in creative mode styled tools, and also super helpful mentors or dedicated fellows that you can ask questions to and about. how stuff works, etc. i will also say this game's community really helped me out of a lot of darker times, often nights turned into deep talks, convos, or general mischief. usually around friends like rukio, nexulan, or others. its just cozy in all shapes & sizes.
Wow... my minecraft world getting a small humbling highlight... quite flattering! I originally made River Town on Neos and a few others before the migration happened, with I have another one in the works as of now. Resonite (and to the humble extension of NEOS as a legacy) have been a platform to which i can build and/or import stuff without having to delve into the nuances of Unity. Never could I ever imagine building things with surprising ease on the platform.
Haha no way, nice to see you here! I've used Unity a lot in the past and it's way less straightforward than being able to build, code, and import items inside of the world itself. It's a shame that games like VRChat don't realize this (or at least offer the choice between Unity and in-game building). Can't wait to see your new world!
Protip for the files: You can drag and drop files from Windows directly (so your Explorer window) onto the running Resonite application and it will open them, so you can use whatever tool you prefer for organizing and selecting files with thumbnails and drop them into Resonite. I basically never use the Resonite file explorer.
I got so much time in Resonite. My Resonite hours is sitting at 1,048.9 hours right now. My VRC is twice that, but VRC has been out a lot longer and I started way back in 2018.
I'm eager to play VRChat and Resonite eventually! I do hope to learn how to create things in these games. And yes, I know VRChat can be played without a headset, but I want to wait until I have one before playing.
Good idea, the difference between playing these games in VR and on a PC is huge for me. Being able to have the worlds surround you and throwing stuff around with your hands is awesome!
@@Wilfoe it's been more than "going downhill" for a while now. Beyond even digging its own grave, it's practically trying to tunnel to the other side of the planet, like kids sometimes believe you can do if you just try hard enough. Except in VRC's case, it's working: they've drilled so far into the bedrock that they had to have still been accelerating when they hit the bottom of the barrel, _and they're still accelerating now._ Like, they just recently forced an update that further restricted the size of avatars available in-game, such that anything you make that's above the new limit automatically fails to upload, and anything that had _previously_ uploaded to the servers now won't load up anymore. Lot of avatars that folks put a lot of effort into are lost/worthless now, all in the name of "optimization" (when really they should be working on optimizing other parts of the game's back end, so that things run more smoothly regardless of what crazy avatars and worlds they throw at it, or how much of a potato someone's computer is.) And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
@@Caldoric Yikes...Thanks for the warning. I think I'll still look at a few worlds on my own or something, but I'll keep this in mind when I get a headset. What was the previous size limit and what's the new one?
I think the only thing that prevents me to play resonite often is the performance, im someone who gets really tired if my frame rate isnt consistent 120 (on VR) and usually lower everything down to achieve this, but resonite gets lagspikes randomly even on an empty world I know they're working on it, and it makes me really excited for when that patch comes out
Awesome video, I really hope this keeps evolving. This is what I would want a metaverse in vr to be like. Do items still not have physics? Like the pillow you had there, can it be dropped on the ground?
It's possible to program an item to have physics. It's not a default option because suddenly spawning a lot of objects in a public world and having everyone do the physics calculations as they flop around could create a lot of issues.
Ok but there are not enough people online at the most active hour, how should I take this seriously and choose it over VRChat with 20k+ online users while Resonite has 200?
It's still in early access. If it ever gets as refined as vr chat is then id recommend everyone trys it but right now its more of a dream for people who want to see it come to reality to participate in
the game looks cool, unfortunately it runs at 20 FPS even with the few graphics settings all the way down. I've been in huge vrchat worlds with 40 people with less lag
i hope they dont try to compete with VRChat. It's a loss for both! If there is a need for a creative VR environment, maybe resonite can fill that niche for creators and developers!
Looks like Resonite almost works, if not already, as a web 3.0 browser. Shares anything, runs a analog of the vrml wet dream from Microsoft for 3D environments, and allow page inspectors for all objects, all that with session perms and else. Maybe the only competition, in the future, is with Fortnite?..
nice video and all but I won't be touching it still has my concern same with neos there's a limit where I can trust a game having files access to my computer
Biggest downside for me is the Performance and that all is hosted on your own Maschine. If they adding servers making the Performance a lot better (and adding a Good IK for Half Body users) then i will try it again.
Resonite is a cool gimmick, but it's not a very user friendly game. People can screw with your avatar without you ever knowing, the frame rate is crippling, and the controls are unintuitive. It's not meant for social VR, but it works well for people who are interested in a game to play on occasion
What are you smoking? A 1080Ti is just like 5-10% better than the 3060. Don't get your info from tiktok. Resonite is just not that great when it comes to performance.
Are you talking about the fact that this video is sponsored? I never showed the team my script and I vetted it with someone to help remove as much bias as I could. My review from 8 months ago wasn't sponsored and yet I still had similar thoughts. At the end of the day it's up to the viewer if they want to value this review or not
Great video!
As announced during our survey, the Resonite development team will be focusing on delivering performance updates throughout 2024.

The biggest problem with resonite is the lack of players/a community, and videos like this are great for spreading the word. Thanks for this
Why do I feel that the Sahara could be a counterpoint to that idea...
@eduhernandez275 like the desert in Africa? I dont know what the other Sahara is
@@louiesauras2403 yep. Sharing is caring, the game
I like the idea of Resonite way more than I do actually playing it, at least in its current state.

Drag and drop, copy and paste, import/export, searching ingame...
I really need to go though and look at some of the newer stuff in the public folders.
Same here, it's really never-ending lol

Do yourself a favor, skip VRChat entirely. It's a dumpster fire these days.

i think the only thing holding vrchat u[ so high is that it is the only real social vr game on quest
Resonite's biggest issue is the complete lack of any proper userbase.

A 3060 is a terrible GPU. Evan a 1080ti is better than a 3060. Just upgrade your card and you'll have no problem, assuming your not CPU bottlenecked.
