Although we loved Iceland, we were a bit disappointed in the “ice cave” which was not a cave but a tunnel. Great hike and beautiful scenery but not a true ice cave!
Loved your video! I´m going to Iceland in November and i´ll be booking a tour to Katla ice cave as well. Can you tell me if the walk to the cave is physically demanding? I´m not the fittest or youngest of persons and i´m also a bit scared of walking on ice/snow, since i´ve never done it (in my country we´re more worried with extreme heat that the cold!). Also, are there any drops or smething like that that might be troubling for someone with a fear of heights? Thanks.
The walk is easy don't worry they give you spikes to add to your shoes that just attach easy. There are 2 guides helping out, there are no real drops. A couple of mini bridges to cross inside the cave but only at a height of 1 or 2 metres. The tour is 1 of the best things I've ever done whilst travelling, I did it with arctic adventures they were great. From reykjavik it includes a stop at vik and 2× waterfalls on the way. You will love it
@@thetravellingmule thanks do much for your answer, it really helps! This will be my real first experience to a propper winter destination and i'm really exited!
@saramh7428 it's an amazing place. Just make sure you have plenty of layers. The norm is at least 3. When I did the golden circle was particularly cold, Deffently need a scalf or similar to keep the wind chill off your face
Nice Video!!! We are thinking about doing the same Arctic Adventure Katla Cave tour. Can you tell me how much time you are actually in the cave for? How long is the cave in length? Is it a long walk from the Super jeep to get to the cave? Any info/suggestions/etc appreciated! TIA
Thanks So I did the full day trip from reykjavik which included other stops The super jeep drive approx 45 mins walking to the cave approx 30 - 45 mins In the cave approx 30 - 45 mins How deep you go will depend on weather conditions as it had rained a bit when I went. I can not recomend the trip enough it was epic. Also I had a great time an all arctic adventures trips. They are a top tour company
@@thetravellingmule Thank you for your quick reply! We are also thinking of doing 2 other Arctic Adventure tours: Snowmobiling on Langjokull from Skjoll/Golden Circle and Amphibean boat ride on Jokulsarlon Lagoon. Did you do either of those? If so, any thoughts, etc? TIA
@@lindaulrich5480 I did jokulsarlon with bus travel iceland it was a 14 hour day from reykjavik. It was a must see, the boat ride isn't available during winter though due to the lake being frozen. I've booked to go back to Iceland 🇮🇸 next year again as it's is 1 of my favourite countries out of the 46 I've been to so far.
@@thetravellingmule Another question for u about Katla Cave tour...did Arctic Adventures not allow anyone on the trip because of boots? We have 2 pairs of extremely comfortable Sketchers Moro Street waterproof ankle snow boots. They have good soles but are not typically thick on the ankles like Columbia hiking type. Id rather not get the thick ankle type as the others are easier to walk + hike in for me. Any info appreciated!!! p.s. we love all yr travel videos!
We did this tour, wasn't impressed, too many people who were very slow up and down into the main area. We were stood around for an hour getting soaked. Smaller group might have made it more enjoyable.
😊this is gorgeous 😊
