There's apparently a great double CD Hoodoo Gurus collection out but I cannot possibly find it in America here anymore. Not even in NYC. It's sad. I have to order it soon on EBay or Amazon. That's if I can even find it.
@@DumbBaby not at all skewed.... it's a God given fact. The younger one is the less they know and therefore, less to stress about. The 80's were a grand decade for some, especially for myself. It was the age of "new". And, even though we didnt know it at the time, the 80's would lay the ground work for what would happen for at least the next 40 years. Have a great day. I'm gonna go close my eyes and miss the 80's again.
One of Aussies most underrated and under .. exposed 80's psychedelic rock/pop acts of the era. Was mid-teens at the time, but like most 80's music, doesn't ever seem to age... yep, that's the phrase: outside of time :p
Geez we had some great bands over the years, these songs remind me of the end of high school and starting work as a fresh green kid with gnarly hard working guys. They were a soundtrack for my youth and it was a good carefree time. The Hoodoo's were one of my all time favourite bands and were amazing. They had such great songs and a really awesome fun vibe. Even as an older guy now I still love playing their songs on guitar and listening to them
Oh my goodness......I heard this on WXRT in Chicago back in the late 1980s. I never knew what it was called or who performed it. Google was not part of everyday life yet..... so this was on my UA-cam feed and WOW, what a surprise!!
Blow Your Cool is a great album from '87. It got a lot of airplay on the college radio station on campus. I remember the Gurus from when they toured with the Bangles a year or so before this album came out. Bangles did some back up vocals on this album as well. Awesome band, highly underrated here in the states!
"What's My Scene?" is a song by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus. It was released in March 1987 as the lead single from their third studio album Blow Your Cool!. The song reached number 3 in Australia.
Might be because a lot of the bands still believe in making it fun. Used to love reading their album liner notes and all the references to "junk culture" (that is, lowbrow pop culture, not a drug thing)
Because so much of AusRock in those days was fun or sounded fun and upbeat. We didn't take ourselves too seriously. Looking back, it reminds you of a time when we were all carefree, young and thought that anything was possible, and our music reflected that. It's what we all desire in life.
Curto pra caramba essa banda, eu mesmo sendo nascido em 94, me sinto como se tivesse feito parte desses som da década de 80s, a vibe é indescritível. 🇧🇷
Hey hoodoo Gurus i have to say i first heard you in 1986 while we were supposed to be playing tennis at high school and they were playing your music over the loud speaker .. and i thought yes on so many levels and i know its hard sometimes to understand yourself but after seeing you with julia and just talking dave faulkner that was a gift and its all bitter sweet in the end but the gift you and your band have given us is remarkable and irreplaceable so dont forget that...and im gonna jig now to your music..Sometimes the most complex people are actually really kind and real ... Sharon😊😊
This is a song too really get your vibes jumping out of your skin. We know theres a better way. Anyday. And im glad i can play ▶️ it any day. And get that feeling of shooting a curl. 🌊
I just brought one of their albums back to Korea (cleaning out mom’s basement - been living abroad over 25 years). Bought a record player! Grew up in New Orleans in the ‘80s where they were played in clubs.
I met these guys once when they were playing in a bar next o the restaurant I worked at and we were catering for them and I had to take some dishes to them and had no idea who they were and one of them went to take the food from me and I thought it was just some random old dude and I refused to give him the food until another person came over and said it was for him. Found out later who they were and felt like a dumbass. They were nice about it though so that was good
And another thing I've been wondering lately Oh, baby, Tell me where have you been? Now the stage is set Where's my Juliet, baby? Is it maybe My Midsummer Night's Dream? What's my scene? For years I forgot about the Hoodoo Gurus.
Today I remembered.
Happy day.

Um a kiwi and we all loved the hoodoos back when they hit the radio waves mid 80's and still do and❤ to all the great ozzie bands, keep it coming😊😅😊
Me three ;)
@@thiscorrosion900 Yeah I bought their compilation CD years ago but I think it was a single disk IIRC.
One of the most underated bands ever.
criminally
Big time
right up there w the replacements, Husker Du, Big star, Fountains of wayne,...
A great Australian band so underrated but whose legacy will outlive us all.
they are active
They are touring 2024
The days where more happier and less stressful back then, great memories!!
What's so stressful about your days now??
That's because you were younger.
Only seemingly, in retrospect. I fall for that one sometimes too. The good feels from the music paired with distant, skewed memory

Lol 👋😂👍
If this isn't played at your funeral, I'm not showing up, mate!
And same on my end!
This is a hell of an Aussie anthem and reminds me of many enjoyable years living there. Puts a massive smile on this Kiwis face!
My favourite Hoodoo Gurus song. Hello from Malaysia 🇲🇾
No one does power-pop as good as the Gurus. NO ONE
One of Aussies most underrated and under .. exposed 80's psychedelic rock/pop acts of the era.
Was mid-teens at the time, but like most 80's music, doesn't ever seem to age... yep, that's the phrase: outside of time :p
Another amazing aussie band just another number to add to the best music nation ever and I'm a kiwi
I don't think i've heard this song since the 80's. Glad I stumbled on it again.
I listen to their songs once in a while on SiriusXm first wave radio!😎👍
One of my all time favourite bands -Australian or international!

Just heard them on xrt today
They're touring us right now
👌😂👍omg yesss 93xrt loved that station! Aaahhh the memories! I haven’t heard that radio station in years! I miss Chicago!
My favorite band of all time! And being 65 I've heard a lot of them.

A Rays fan AND a Gurus fan?! Let me buy you an overpriced beer at the Trop

Should have been number one. Still rocks today in March 2024
One of Australia's greatest anthems, yet only has 30K views?? C'mon mang.
There was an upload with millions of views that seems to have been taken down.
people who listen to this dont use youtube.
Noaha

Dink - Donk ??? WTF ??? Simon knows how to make a board turn . . .
Ken oath!! Then you got the whip nae nae with 1.5 billion
This probably is because they upload this only on 2018 🇧🇷🤙
Fabulous band - timeless music. I feel happy whenever I hear this!
Whangarparoa, New Zealand 1st March 2023 - AWESOME Show. Amazing energy. LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!! Wahoooooooooooooooooo
World’s most under appreciated songs
I saw them live in Liverpool UK in 1985. they were great and did a brilliant version of Galveston for the encore. I wish there was a recording of it.
Has to be one of Aussies greatest songs, from a Nzer across the ditch. 2023.
The lyrics start and finish mid sentence.... masterful. I always put on the Hoodoos when I need a good smile and a dance. Fantastic Ozzie band!!
Feels like a satisfying end to a really good Tv show
I love fun 1980s music videos!
Saw them when I was a teen at the Esplanade foreshore in Perth. Still one of the best concerts I have ever seen and it was FREE
I was at that concert I think. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the sound wasn't the best because it was really windy.
Why is this song so relatable?
I was in Venice back in 87 when I first heard this, an Aussie overseas for awhile, brought me straight back home in my head.
They are so underated
Probably one of my earliest introductions to Australian rock. Still not sure why it's so good.

Hooks,full of great hooks!
😮 still here..always will.
I really love the energy of this band! Amazing!
One of the great videos to one of the great Aussie songs. Our band tried this just last week at our mid-week jam. Such a fun song to sing.
One of the best Aussie live bands ever f**king fabulous lots of great songs
Curto pra caramba essa banda, eu mesmo sendo nascido em 94, me sinto como se tivesse feito parte desses som da década de 80s, a vibe é indescritível.
🇧🇷
I remember this song in a surf video from the 80’s.
Love it! ❤
What's My Team Loved the old sharkies and magpies jumpers.
Aussie genius right here. Not thinking - But knowing nonetheless - Yess!!!
I had this album in highschool! I haven't heard these songs in so long. Thanks for putting them on UA-cam!
Have LOVED the GURUS since Stoneage Romeos! They STILL BLOW MY MIND!!!!!🤩 sgl
Happy song! Love it!
Definitely the most fun I ever had at a show!
Much love from south of Brasil 🇧🇷
Man this song takes me back. Epic song _| |_
This really deserves millions of views, such a great tune.
LOVE THIS BAND,TALENTED GUYS..🎶
This deserves at least a paltry million views, c'mon
Should be Australia's national anthem.
Peter P I’ll second that & add it should be every country’s anthem!
Maybe Too Many Times by the Mentals would be a better fit for us.
Have you not heard pub feed by the chats ?
i totally agree
Run to paradise anyone?
Curto muito essa banda, tem uma vibe ótima!
My favourite song.🇦🇺☝🏾❤️❤️
Aussie music in the 80s was somethin else

Bloody brillant.. love these guys had the pleasure of meeting them after a show in Perth many years ago after our gig... brilliant band
Faulkner, a completely cool dude.
Dave F. has one of the best voices I've heard.
And a ton of energy
I'd forgotten how funny this vid was!
First band I saw live in 1984 at the Newcastle Workers Club
Thx guys for this song about my acting career😊
Absolute Classique - Nothing more. It is excellent...Just rough edged' and Beautiful..
I can remember going to UNSW in 83 and seeing the Le Hoodoo Gurus concert posters on the Roundhouse
This song simply DOES NOT AGE
I just brought one of their albums back to Korea (cleaning out mom’s basement - been living abroad over 25 years). Bought a record player! Grew up in New Orleans in the ‘80s where they were played in clubs.
Bloody Great🎶🎵🎼

They are awesome!!
Bella canzone
Inventive and marvellous.
I still don't know how this songs works ...what's my scene. But bloody hell thank god it did
Going to see them the 25th in NOLA, finally I get to see them!
What a great song writer or writing group I dunno if he did em all himself. Anyway, really good. Top notch craftsmanship.
I went mad over this in the 80s
just awesome truely
This song is basically about that one person in the 20s I can’t figure out their life.
Great song.👌🏾
One of singles of the 80s
Best band
Waiting for you on Ago 24th in Rio!!!!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I met these guys once when they were playing in a bar next o the restaurant I worked at and we were catering for them and I had to take some dishes to them and had no idea who they were and one of them went to take the food from me and I thought it was just some random old dude and I refused to give him the food until another person came over and said it was for him. They were nice about it though so that was good
The Boys are NY METS fans!! Love it..

Saw them live at club Malibu in Long Island ny!!!!
Love it
One of the best bands....makes me remember the 80`s...much better than actual days with all this crying humans around!
I love this
I remember when this song came out.
And another thing
I've been wondering lately
Oh, baby,
Tell me where have you been?
Now the stage is set
Where's my Juliet, baby?
Is it maybe
My Midsummer Night's Dream?
What's my scene?
Like a talent scout
I'm always checking out new blood
Oh, I'd do good
If you tell me your game.
Playing Solitaire
Doesn't get me where you would
And, honey, you could
Play by any rules that you care to name.
What's my scene? (I gotta know)
They say, yeah, they say
Making love, you can make it pay.
They say, yeah, they say,
But we know there's a better way
Any day.
And another thing
I've been wondering lately
Am I crazy
To believe in ideals?
I'm a betting man
But it's getting damn lonely.
Oh, honey, it only
I could be sure what I feel.
What's my scene? (I'm dying to know)
I'll never know.
Well, I concede
I've been caught in someone else's scene (but that's not me).
Where, oh where, oh where can my scene be?
Please answer - me
What's my ..?
Just awesome music 🎶 🎵 ❤️ 👌 👏 👏👏👏👏
