Used to see them live whenever they came to town in the 80s and 90s. Was devastated when they broke up and over the moon when they got back together. Still see them today if I can. To hear the whole crowd start singing the opening verse is an amazing feeling.
Dave Faulkner is also a bit of encyclopedia on music. I appreciate someone who is into what they do enough to be a bit of an authority on the subject. Great Oz band.

They performed miles above expectations. My wife came in not knowing who they were and left a fan! The St. Pete show was one of the best live shows I have seen.
Dave's voice has always been underrated. It's so smooth and sweet that's it's easy to miss the huge range and big interval jumps that he nails with apparent ease in the days before ProTools and Autotune.
Fantastic band and an even more fantastic song. Brings back memories of speeding down the Mt. Vernon parkway at 2AM in my 89 Ford Mustang 5.0, wind in my face, music blasting through the darkness, the moon's silver reflection on the Potomac River's still waters. Awesome times.

I sort of met Dave Fawkner one night in a bar in Sydney called Manacle. I was and am into music - so I just was giddy. Love the Gurus. Anyway, I didn't appreciate that Dave was just there to meet up with a friend of mine. It was horrendous. Dave hated The Cure. We bought White Russians, took pills and hated each other quickly and I left. When I say we hated eachother, I mean he just hated the shit out of me. Frwn.
What a great band led by a great songwriter. So many good songs and this is one of them. Sometimes I don't think the Gurus are taken into account when great Australian bands are spoken about. I don't know why. Perhaps it's because they are fairly low key when it comes to their public image and don't get or seek the publicity other more well known bands do. But their music stacks up as equal to any bands and always sounds great.
They had 2 American number 1s early in there career (This song and Wipout) Tons of talent with no ambitions to be famous, Instead of playing large concerts they would play for free at high schools and local parks, I watched them play at partington flats in Greensborough with “mi-sex” and “pseudo echo” in 1985 it was packed there must have been 60 people there! lol 1,000 miles away is a ripper as well.

They didn’t ignore them they had 2 US hits very early in career this song and wipeout but Dave is a quiet soft spoken man in private who has brilliantly avoided fame while building a legacy that writes records & owns everything they play and collect huge royalties, many unusual country’s love gurus and they have a many great songs and no 2 the same, that’s impressive even Angus says AC/DC released the same album 14times!

They didn’t ignore them they had 2 US hits very early in career this song and wipeout but Dave is a quiet soft spoken man in private who has brilliantly avoided fame while building a legacy that writes records & owns everything they play and collect huge royalties, many unusual country’s love gurus and they have a many great songs and no 2 the same, that’s impressive even Angus says AC/DC released the same album 14times!

I waited about 40 years to hear this song live. It became my anthem in 2015 for the themes in the song. Tonight was the night, in San Diego at Humphrey's by the Bay. Thanks HDG's! Great concert.
