  • A staple in any Tongan household, Lu Sipi (Lu: taro leaves and Sipi: lamb) has been a traditional Tongan dish passed from Grandmothers to mothers to daughters. Creamy, filling and delicious, it’s hard not to love this delicacy from the Friendly Islands.
Cook along with Tongan mama Papiloa Bloomfield Foliaki as she shows you her simple yet oh so yummy recipe for those big family gatherings!

So Tongans like mutton as much Egyptians and South Indians. I've tasted it when I stayed in Tonga.

Just to add to this if you have access to baby taro leaves it will be better than full grown.

Cooking it in the oven tastes bad and ain't original, that's more of the palagi way. The real deal is in the lovo (earth oven). And the fully grown taro leaf will make your throat itchy, better using the young baby taro leaf.
