You are so funny and make it look fun to do..i love the pidgin commentary and the old school stove with the timer knobs on the front..I will most definitely try this recipe along with adding coconut milk and sweet potato..I think I met Bill before but can't remember, maybe from church, lol...tnx again and looking forward to subscribing and trying your other recipes!

My mom was military, I use to live Ewa Beach. I made this in school in a nutrition class, it was delicious!! I'm gonna definitely make this at home😊 thanks for sharing. Love your energy!!

I do it this way too on the 9th Isle. Much easier to just make one huge lau lau in a pan instead of steam individual ones that take a long time to wrap.
@@JaniceKOREA Ti Leaves are hard to come by sometimes here in the Nevada desert especially now with everything closed up because of the virus. And so my recent batch I omitted the Ti leaves. Luau Leaves are also hard to come by so i use fresh spinach. I use Salmon instead of Butter-fish. I am not fond of salted Black Cod (Butter-fish). I make mine with Pork, Beef Chuck, and Salmon. Sometimes I make Chicken Lau Lau too.

In Korea I used spinach leaves. But You will need Many, Many, many leaves cuz' it will shrink down big time. It tasted good to me! Hope that helps you! Enjoy!

I know you make how you like. Me, I'm Hawai'ian, but I was influenced by the Tongan style, and that's how I like. So, 3/4 cup Best Foods and 3/4 cup water or coconut milk, is different, but still lovely. If you like add chicken breast or squid, chance 'em.

Try check the Jamaican markets if have. They sell something call dasheen which is a dry land taro leaf! I almost cried when I found out I could get em on the mainland!

I miss my Lau Lau on the mainland. Soooo...next best thing is spinach leaves. I put half bag spinach in crock pot. then put pork butt (and sometimes fish) with sea salt and shoyu and then cover with rest of bag of spinach. Lid seals in. Cook low for 5-6 hrs. Onolishess.

Yep use gloves if your skin is sensitive. When my Dad used to make this in his home made outdoor steamer, I used to help wash and wrap..my lower arms were so red n itchy afterwards

One friend suggested Collards for mainlanders. When I lived in Korea I used big spinach leaves. BUT you gotta use lots and lots and lots of spinach leaves!!! Ti leaf is only for wrapping not eating. Hope this helps! Luv J =)

I think this was lau lau..but there are a few people who do pan palusami and pan lupulu. I have tried those two from different youtubers and was ono :)

Good Recipe! But the one thing you need to watch is how much fat that is on the pork shoulder. That’s going to determine how much oil you’re going to have in your pan. I trim just enough fat off the meat so the lau lau will still be moist. But only if there’s lots of fat on the meat.

I did that dish in Texas, grew my own taro leaves, and it was delicious! The winter made the taro dormant but it comes back in the spring.

Yup same coz the leaves gives you itchy throat if not cleaned and cooked thoroughly.
Can I put coconut milk during the cooking process?
I have not tried with coconut milk. I looked at two of my cookbooks- they put in the coconut milk halfway through. I hope this helps! =)

Taro leaves are hard to come by in Dallas. When they are available, it's very very expensive.
I'm not too fond about pork. So can I switched to chicken instead? Do I follow the pork recipe for chicken? Meaning the amount of pork for chicken?

One friend suggested Collards for mainlanders. When I lived in Korea I used big spinach leaves. BUT you gotta use lots and lots and lots of spinach leaves!!! Ti leaf is only for wrapping not eating. Hope this helps! Luv J =)

San Fransico have lots of asian markets if not online buy da froxen kine easier to cook.

Good Recipe! But the one thing you need to watch is how much fat that is on the pork shoulder. That’s going to determine how much oil you’re going to have in your pan. I trim just enough fat off the meat so the lau lau will still be moist. But only if there’s lots of fat on the meat.
