  • A famous treat served in the islands of the South Pacific. Keke isite is a round doughnut that is eaten by many pacific islanders. Many have grown seeing their aunts, mothers, grandmas or family members prepare this signature dish, and now I'm happy to share with you how to make it. I enjoyed a bite of the keke site, which reminded me of home. Definitely bringing a taste of the South Pacific. Hope you all enjoy!!!

      Haha! Kiwi watching from China. They make the same donuts here too. I actually searched "Samoan donuts" into UA-cam because it was a Samoan place in Otahuhu where I had them.

    First of all thank you so much! I’ve come across a lot of keke isite videos and I just needed help with one specific instruction and that was how to form the dough in your hand and put it into the oil!! That has helped me a lot and I can’t wait to make

    I love seeing other ways to make it, my family do have our own recipe of the keke but the method of how she squeezed it into the pan is the same way my grandma taught me. Love this!

    Made these the other day, thanks for sharing the recipe! That smell of them cooking, brought back some early memories watching Aunties make these. The rest of us kids would help by mixing batter and get a few!😂 By itself or with butter and cocoa its the best! ❤

    I haven't had some of these in so long! I miss it. I used to rent a room from a Togan family and every once in a while they'd make this. It was so good! Do you happen to know what this drink (they never told me the name of it) where you use shredded fruit and coconut milk?

    Interesting listening to that song my dad is a Polynesian Hawaiian and I wonder I know in Hawaiian noho means sit down kuiluna means stand up I wonder if they were talking about Tahitian dance when they ami down to the ground and then stand up all the time shaking it in Hawaii on the island of Kauai in Lihue they hold the Tahiti fete and all my life living in Hawaii and being half Hawaiian I only understand some Hawaiian most Polynesians look down on us for not knowing our own language but what they don’t know is that in the past our culture and language was banned if we were to even enter a church or be baptized we had to have a English name it’s so sad that’s why I love watching Māori and Samoan videos because I see a lot of similarities in our cultures all I know is what my puna taught me and my kumu and my dad bits and pieces but still there

    I've noticed that a kuki song is playing just wondering if you know how to make the kuki donuts?

    • @TasteoftheSouthpacific
      @TasteoftheSouthpacific  6 років тому

      Maybe your dough was too runny? If thats the case just add a bit more flour so it can be thick and hold its form. Also make sure your oil is hot enough when you throw the dough in. Let me know how it goes! If not dm me and I'll help you step by step.

    • @moanamafi9956
      @moanamafi9956 4 роки тому

      @@TasteoftheSouthpacific Thank you I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my dough was bit thick so I added more water. I did fry in the pot, I think it's the way I put the cake in form like a flat oval shape instead of round

    • @TasteoftheSouthpacific
      @TasteoftheSouthpacific  4 роки тому

      @@moanamafi9956 Ok, the consistency of your dough sounds about right, maybe to make it easier for you, let your dough be a little thick that way you can easily form the round shape when frying it.
