  • V-Seal weather strips are hinged into a v-shape that seals when compressed to block gaps between the frame of the door or window. This stops infiltration into your home. It has adhesive on one side to attach to the frame.
    1. Measure the length of your door frame on both sides and top. Cut the lengths with scissors.
    2. Strip off some paper backing and stick the v-tape at the upper door frame side with the V pointing outside. The tip of the V should be about 1/8 to ¼ inch from the outside edge of the door.
    3. Keep it straight or it will bow and seal poorly.
    4. Apply the V-seal strip down the entire length of the door frame.
    5. Repeat on the other side of the door frame.
    6. Repeat along the top of the door frame.

    Hmmmm...the open end of V should always face the outside....when the wind comes in, it opens it up and creates the seal...normally an exterior door will swing in...your door seems to swing out, so ideally the strip should be applied to the rebate that contacts the face of the door with the open end V facing the jam....your way seems to work, however as it wears, it may rip open when opening the door or stay flat allowing wind to go by.

      It will only slow them down. There will still be tiny voids here and there. Try boric acid in jar lids in the backs of the cupboard.

    Thank you for showing this video. I went to four stores and none of them carry this type of product, so it looks like I will need to buy online. Thank you for the tips on how to use it. I have warpage on my front door where the sun hits pretty directly and foam just bunches up and peels off. This sounds like a good product.can you show us if it can be used on windows as mine are not that great?

      V-seal is more reusable, so is a bead seal on a strip. Rope caulk is for openings not used for the winter.

    hello, the video is great!
    but the link for door sweep installation didn't work for me.
    Would you mind telling me again what kind of sweep it is?
    thank you very much!

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  5 років тому

      Jing, that is a brush sweep. They come in several sizes and lengths. The more irregular the ground the longer the sweep (brush hairs) should be. The one shown was by Randal Mfg, (who have a crappy site) but other mfgs make them. Call the store and one of the crew will answer questions and see if they can ship to you.

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  2 роки тому +1

      No, the v-seal is meant to have more movement. There is a double adhesive bathroom ‘caulk’ strip that is flexible and double adhesive. images.orgill.com/200x200/6871487.jpg UPC code 070048133404

Perhaps some better lighting also; dark door dark room big hands close up help me out there buddy I'm a rookie. Thank you 😁
