    Omg this is so practical. I’m using earplugs, a white noise machine and sleeping pills to help me manage lack of sleep due to noises coming from outside my bedroom door from within the house and from noises from neighbours outside the windows. I still get woken up despite having taken the sedatives, and I wake up with sore ears after using the earplugs. So I’m considering paying someone to do this weatherstripping, and other soundproofing things because I don’t want to get it wrong the first time.

      Get a box fan and put it on the floor beside your head. It helps IMMENSELY. I don't know how people can sleep without one.

      Wait a box fan?? What is that??? Please I am in this similar suckish situation. Just moved and the neighbors are so noisy they have some machine that is really loud and she does NOT move that thing. The noise comes through the walls and my mind keeps picking it up and I can't sleep

    My problem with the weather strip application. My door will not close because of that added space from the compressed stripping.

      @@linhardtvonhevring7318 You can try to move the metal insert on the wall that the latch slides into. Often the holes they are in have extra space cut in for this exact reason.

    Very good demonstration and helpful tips about sealing the doors. But you should record the top of the door a more close-up look of where you placed the strip, so we can understand exactly where you applied it. Because the doors have many corners... And you didn't showed to us what "type" was the strip? (D or P)? You have a new subscriber to your channel. 👍

    Great video! If i may make one slight correction. Einstein proved that light is smaller than sound, because light moves faster. So you could see light, but the sound might not make it through. Really great practical application! Keep it up!

    • @Kai...999
      @Kai...999 4 місяці тому +2

      The speed of light has nothing to do with it being faster. It's essentially a massless particles. Photons are smaller than atoms and sound is compressed gas hitting your eardrum. The mass and speed properties you mentioned aren't correlated.

      If I have HVAC all over my ceiling joists, is there a big difference between two layers of drywall on ceiling vs using safe and sound and a drop ceiling. Obviously both these options will not prevent all noise making it upstairs but is there a major difference between the two.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge here! Great information! Any suggestions for reducing noise from neighbors from a shared wall that is made of brick? Not handy so hoping to find simple solutions that can help minimize the sound. Many thanks!

    You never showed the top weather strip applied. Would have been nice to see since you're suggesting the application to be different than the other sides, if I'm interpretting correctly.

      No, a small gap can let in 50% of the noise back into the room.

    Constant repetition of basics with no close-up shots to show which surface is to be covered by strip, and no discussion of width/depth dimensions.

    You said at the beginning youd go over which type of weatherstrip is best for sound. Sounds weird but for some reason google (which has gone downhill at verbatim or specific results) can’t seem to focus on that specific aspect and even Reddit discussions are getting into the details of sound dampening but not simply specifying which material for the weather strip itself is best. So this video was a disappointment

    Your videos drag on for so long and the results for the sound is nothing, this was a waste of time
