Man, they kinda suck stock, even with muffler mod. and I like the Dolmars/Makitas. Yours sounded really good after porting. I have 2 - 6100's both stock at the moment, and they, so far (getting bugs worked out) have not been too impressive. They have a bit of torque though. One when hot (like after cutting for 15 minutes) likes to die coming down to idle. I've tried tuning it out, and haven't got it dialed yet. I've fattened low a bit, leaned low a bit, fattened high a bit ... still likes to die coming to idle when hot. Doesn't do it for at least 10 minutes of cutting though. I'm thinking carb diaphragms maybe, or maybe an air leak - but that saw is really new, so shouldn't have any issues like that. I'll get her dialed in though. Other saw was a beat Home Depot rental, that looking at the bar, was overheated. It too gets weird when it is really warmed up.
Yeah that sounds like a carb issue. This saw was fairly new. I haven’t ran into that problem. I would suggest a vacuum test on the carb and a leak down test on the saw
Thanks I have all kinds of poplar on the ridge here just have no use for it, but I do now. Going to get this saw ironed out and then work on my next build for sawfest.
I'm not telling you your business but just by looking at the video it seems your chain is throwing a lot of sawdust instead of chips. Are those rakers right on the chain?
sweet improvement in the ported saw with a bonus mail call during filming 👍👍
Thanks, and yes more saw parts 🤦🏻♂️🤣

That hickory is at least 3x harder than the poplar up here. It’ll scream in that stuff.

Nice one!
Thanks man!
Totally different saw!
Yes the 6100’s port up really nice, usually a 50% gain with them.
