2 guitar gods, not one better than the other, but when Frampton made Clapton humbly tap out, it's the ultimate sign of respect any guitarist can get. He was simply on fire here.
Clapton has always been a very humble and gracious musician. He enjoys playing with others and he has no problem letting then shine if they go for it and he respects Frampton as well. I've always liked that about him.

I do agree with all this....although, if you notice at 6.30, Frampton almost backs off the stage, and is saved from going over by a security guy who gently pushes his legs from behind to stop him. I think it is as much this near-disaster as anything else that makes Clapton start the smiling/head-shaking bit!
Frampton shows that he is a serious talent on the guitar. Equally as melodic and bluesy as Clapton. With a gritty tone. And he can sing pretty good too...

ua-cam.com/video/LGDqBlMc860/v-deo.html
@@michaelgreen5206 Peter also played in the sessions for "All Things Must Pass" and knew George and the rest of the band quite well. (I didn't know this until I read Peter's biography) Truly a great tribute to George by both of them. fun fact - David Bowie and Peter were schoolmates.
I don’t think anybody has more fun playing a guitar than Peter Frampton. He plays, he laughs, he sings and he competes with Eric Clapton. When the 2 of them make music together, it’s something you’ll never forget. Absolutely
phenomenal.
Right on..
Bravo, simply amazing. I love when great artists collaborate. We got to cherish these legends while they’re still with us.
Amen and Amen two legendary musicians
Impossible to watch this and not end up with a smile on your face. Long live those two legends!

the dual solos were such a good example of mutual respect... neither offended and neither tried to one up the other... just two guitars gently weeping together. Well done guys!
...yes yes yes...super soulful...have you heard Prince play this though
@@therewearethen-bx1fn I haven't heard it but know Prince was a very under-rated guitarist. He had serious skills so I will have to search for that one... edited to add, ok watched that one with Prince and Tom Petty. Prince definately had skills. I just was not a fan of him showboating quite so much when he was on stage with some other major artists. He could have skipped the stage dive move for example and toned it down just a bit and I think it would have been better. No disrespect for his skills though... Prince could play!
@@ufosaboveus that had been my favorite version of this until I saw this one just now. But yeah- Prince was showing out... EC and Frampton were respecting... (Prince was incredible tho.)
@@dougbrown6690 Yep... Prince certainly had skills but hard to think of any better duo on this song than Clapton and Frampton. Every time I get a notice of comment on this... I have to listen to the entire song again and love it every time! Frampton has such a relaxed vocal on this too... Everything just clicks on this version and both of those guys are class acts.
Except that Clapton got his ass kicked. Frampton’s solos are remarkably more musical and interesting.
Love,love,love,legend music 🙏🍀❤️👌🎶🎼🎵✌️🎸🎤🎹🥁🍂🍁
I love the way Clapton is dressed like they found him at a bus stop and asked "We're a guitarist short, can you play?"
Great Comment.
Kudos to you.............
Frampton is one of the most underrated guitarists there is.
Still holding Humble Pie albums.

Such an Awesome performance, two master guitarist. Peter still has that youthful nature and Eric’s low key style, so beautiful to watch. Thank you, 😎🙏🎶🎶✌🏼
Peter a tremendous guitarist Eric let him have his day because of Peter medical problems. Class act
When Eric smiles, I smile.
Peter, you're a legend!
That was so well spotted. Acknowledgement from the genius that made WMGGW what it was, to the guy who just enjoyed playing and contributing to a classic performance. I also like the 'Man' that Peter mouthed to Eric when it was done. 'Man' indeed!
i smiled too! i viewed this for the 3rd time
I love when Eric gives the smile like Damn Pete!
I did smile, too! It is very very very difficult to see the master Eric Clapton smiling while playing or giving an interview !!!

Two British Masters.
Frampton has ALWAYS been underrated and only recently getting his props.
The guitarists guitarist.
I have read a mag about British musicians that were successful and Peter wasn't. I found it unfair.
Eric is still perfect.
Underrated in some households, but even my neighbors would yell out the window, "man, that sounds so good!"
I saw Frampton in NY probably about 15 years ago. I had no idea what I was in for. Went there for the hit/pop tunes. Went home with a huge smile and shaking head.

Was there at the Crossroads concert here in Dallas in 2019 and sitting just off to the side of Peter. When they played this I felt like I had died and gone to heaven! It just doesn’t get any better than this!
Two different styles getting together and getting a kick of it all. I was smiling towards the end of it and I noticed Eric and Peter smiling also. Great version of a great song played by two great guitarists. What a treat. We are running out of great musicians like these two.

Eric was the first guitar god! Before Jimmy page, Hendrix, or whoever u want to mention... Eric was a prodigy at age 19, jus listen to the beano album
Brings tears to the eyes when they get in sync around 5:15. Eric's generosity toward Peter with the shake of the head and Peter's inspired playing were just great.
Tap out?
It's what clapton didnt do that made this perfect hes always humble and unafraid
Frampton is miles ahead of Clapton…honestly Clapton plays pretty much the most basic blues licks straight out of the pentatonic….Frampton has a much wider range 🤘🤘🎸 great song no matter what though

Oh my God. I am in heaven. I got goosebumps all over my body watching and listening to this. Best version ever. This is why Eric keeps going. He always gets better. Eric has been on a steady rise since about 1991, every year since then he gets better at playing. Unbelievable. There is nothing in history to compare it to. Recorded music only been around about 100 years.
"You have watched a dream come true." We sure did. How humbly and sympathetic mr. Clapton lets Peter Frampton lead this song.

That Les Paul was stolen and returned to its rightful owner!! He has a special live for that guitar and he weeped when it went missing for years!

A truly magical performance, I feel George smiling his big gorgeous smile approvingly
amazing, when Franpton starts to solar around 6:20, Clapton looks and smiles, as if to say: you are a monster even with your health problems you can do this .... and in the end, Frampton looks at Capton and it is as if he recognizes and reveres, you are also the guy, great respect between two guitar monsters!... BRASIL!!
Muito bom....
Well said. The look on Eric's face where he seems to be saying "OK, man. Take it." is the high point for me.
I do agree with all this....although, if you notice at 6.30, Frampton almost backs off the stage, and is saved from going over by a security guy who gently pushes his legs from behind to stop him. I think it is as much this near-disaster as anything else that makes Clapton start the smiling/head-shaking bit!
A reverencia final a Clapton `e de emocionar; Harrison esta feliz la em cima

Clapton is the Prince of constraint. So nice to see Frampton shining on the Les Paul and the interplay between him and Clapton on the strat.
He says so much with so little. I don't remember who said it, but someone said, "music is made in the space between the notes..." To me, Clapton captures this essence perfectly.
@@johndubchak very much correct. It was Debussy. Some one said (probably BB King if I am right) 'I play by removing rather than adding notes'.
