I love your channel :) I don't backpack, so in theory there's no need for me to watch a 15 min video on safety accessories (though it is very important for people who do backpack, of course!), but you two are so charming and charismatic that I enjoy listening and learning new things! And congrats on getting sponsored!
You could stuff leaves in the safety bag & have great padding for softness & warmth under your pad. And write Help on it before a trip then flagging a helicopter if needed. Love your hat!!! You can have an AT patch made to put on it &/or your hiker name & year.? You have a sponsor!! 😮
I’m a bit disappointed you didn’t highlight an alternative navigation option for if you phone battery is dead. A waterproof hard copy topomap and compass is an important back up navigation system, along with leaving intentions appropriately as well. Interestingly I just just use aqua tabs which is a mild chlorine water treatment (hiking in New Zealand) and that is all I take - we have very clear water though!
Totally hear you! We didn’t include every safety precaution in this video (like these things) as we honestly have a TON. This is a list of specific gear we get asked about a lot and wanted to share! This isn’t meant to be a comprehensive list of every piece of gear/thing to do before a trip, but we can certainly do that in the future!
Iodine Water Purification Not the Best Choice - Chlorine Dioxide much Better - My choice Katadyn Micropur MP1 - 30min Clear Water 4hr Dirty-Highly Suspect Water - Plus taste like Tap Water from Home

yall are awesome!
Whistles, paracord, ziplock bags, bug repellent, ducktape
🙌 All great things to bring! The only one we leave behind sometimes is bug spray but that is only on the cold winter trips

Good to know about the Chlorine Dioxide, we will have to give it a try!
