  • Sister Sledge is an American musical vocal group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1971, the group consisted of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy Sledge. The siblings achieved international success at the height of the disco era. The year 1979 saw the release of their breakthrough album We Are Family, which peaked at number three on the US Album Chart and included the 1979 US top ten singles "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family". A third single, "Lost in Music", reached the US top forty. "We Are Family" earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

      Narada Michael Walden produced this and the First 4 tracks on Side 1/Side A of the LP are SOLID!

      @@justjackjordinjustin Too bad the labels wouldn’t give them the proper push! They had everything it took to be superstars, they should’ve been bigger than the Pointers for sure.

      Blackjack115 they had 4 hit songs : He’s The Greatest Dancer, We Are Family, Lost In Music, Frankie (UK). But they should have been much bigger with more hits!

    they're soul singers' vocalist and their rhythm and it's back instrumental rock style of music sounds more like the Pointer Sisters than Chic.

      New Wave was coming in... This was a Good Album.. the first 4 Songs were SOLID!!

    This was the time when soul act's recordings had to have a ' rock content' to get their videos played on the then new , MTV -------------Lionel Richie's 'Running With Night', MJ's ' Beat it' etc come to mind.
