- Classic rock-dance tune from the 'All American Girls' album performed on the 'Tomorrow Show.' I wonder if the inspiration for the guitar licks on Michael Jackson's "Beat It" came from here! In any event, Kathy, Joni, Kim, and Debbie gave a fun performance! Also see the performance of "Next Time You'll Know" on my channel.
Such a unique sound & vibe for it's time. Kathy's smokey somewhat scratchy voice was just great. She's my favorite for sure.
You're right
Always loved Joni's energy whether in live performances or in vids. She can never stay still, something - legs, hair, arms -always moving with the music. Love it! Usually Debbie is more subdued, but in this performance she was rockin' it with the rest of them. Have to say, even though I have owned their music for a while - years, but I never listened to it; but last year something hit me and I started listening to these treasures and I have been hooked ever since. All of their voices are devine
They are all SMOKIN' HOT!!! Gorgeous! Each sister was slender, tender, and tall, and each had their own look! And this track is amazing.
I really like how all 4 are really close too one another. It really shows in there performances.
flashback ... wow .. sister sledge was one of my favorite groups. (very pretty girls).
great song...great group...always will be...thanks JUSTIN!!!
Great live performance !!!
One of the greatest girls band of all times. They were said to be number 2 after the Supremes (with Diana Ross).
Y'all better go I love it !
Yes, this track track was during the "New Wave" moment in music. There were some great tunes done by many R&B artists during the time in music that were largely ignored by R&B radio because of the "rock" influences of New Wave, which was a fusion of Rock, Dance, & R&B.
Sort of like Donna Summer and her song, The Wanderer. They kinda stepped away from the disco sound.
🎵 SISTER SLEDGE he's just a runaway 🔼🔼🔼🔼 ( live )♨ black rock classic witb heat♠ 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🎤 🎼
I so enjoyed seeing this again- thanks for posting! :>
💪👏
@TsugaruClan This particular version was not a tribute to Bob. But SS did re-cut the song in a reggae-ish style when it was released as a single. That version was labeled "A Tribute to Bob Marley." But based on what I read in liner notes, it was mostly recut because R&B radio was cold to playing such a rock-oriented song.
I got it from a trade with a fellow collector years ago. Unfortunately, don't have the interview!
Kathy Sledge is so pretty.
O cmy 20 years

@Documentarywatcher From left to right there is Debbie, Kathy, Joni and Kim. I was always partial to Debbie, then followed by Kathy, but I love them all.
