45 years later this is still one of the best sounds and best albums ever made.
Heard this on the car radio yesterday, and just had to watch again on UA-cam. One can understand every word, which fortunately was normal back then. Lost count how many times we all danced to this, back in the 70s and 80s
Masterpiece
Beautiful music, beautiful women. What an era.
I was 15 when this song came out what a great time for music 1979 Sister Sledge and Chic was taking over..

I just love how Joni is singing the lead on this song..it's perfect.
Rest in Peace beautiful lady.
I love it too!! I wish I could sing like her 🎵🎶🎤🎵🎶
They were soooo coool!
She was really cute
Best disco ever. Tamla Motown orchestral sound .
Oh beautiful era
Undoubtedly, the best ever!
My favorite Sister Sledge song, especially the extended version.
They were so glamorous and talented! So glad I was a child of the 70s. My parents played them and others. I remember it well. This music never dies.
What stunning group of ladies, and I first saw the beautiful Joni in 1984 singing this song on Top Of The Pops, rest in peace.
I'm 20 years younger watching our beautiful girls. Massive thanks ladies
Not all disco sucks!! Love Love Sister Sledge!!:))
Fran Lebowitz said 'disco only sucked when straight white people got hold of it' and she is so right
The reason why a lot of Caucasian people didn't like disco music was because a lot of disco music that had "strong gospel and African American "roots and lineage to the music. It had a certain type of beat to it and too many Caucasian people couldn't understand it.
@@pawdaw Is this really true? I read that though whites were becoming inspired by Disco music like in the film Saturday Night Fever and Beegees, it was the Rock and Roll crowd who started the Disco sucks movement as Disco was becoming more mainstream.
Since Rock n Roll was considered "White people" music back then, I wouldn't say whites getting a hold of Disco caused it to suck. More like they actively tried to take it down.
A beautiful talented lady with a great voice. An absolute tragedy that she has gone too soon, like so many of late.
A truly great time for music, I am blessed to have lived through it.
RIP Joni Sledge, so sad to here of your passing here in London UK, You were way to young to go. You're music will live on forever.
These sisters absolutely dominated the year 1979!!! Love them 4eva!! Continue RIHP Beautiful Queen Joni!
DISCO DESERVES ITS PLACE IN MUSIC LEGENDS.
Nile Rodgers on that guitar is mesmerizing in this song.
He is and, love the Tamla Motown orchestra.
Both Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards (RIP) are on the guitars actually. They both helped evolve that iconic riffing and chucking on guitars. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 6th March 2024.
@@MundiaKamau yes I'm ok on lead at 70 but, always wish I could get that funky/jazzy sound on my strat. Sadly, a bit passed it! Regards, Gerry.
@@gerrybanyard1440No kidding?🙂Keep at it, keep innovating with your guitar. I remember reading this remarkable story many years back, that took place around the late 19th century/early 20th century, of a painter, an Italian painter as I remember, who experienced rejection of his artwork throughout his life, and got his big break when he was 80 years old and just about to altogether give up on art and painting. Amazing, right? Gives a whole new meaning to "patience pays," right?
@@MundiaKamau And Zimmer frame!
Joni was so pretty & had really good stage presence.
These sisters will stay with us forever, RIP Joni
Can hear Nile Roger's signature of genius in this great song
Superbly addictive.
Also Mr Edwards’s bass RIP
The Chic Organization
@@johnstairsTrue🙂Someone else above also forgets to give credit to Bernard Edwards (RIP)🙂Some years back I watched this documentary on "Chic," and there was this music producer of back around the time that "Chic" were starting out, who somewhat casually asked Bernard Edwards to play some guitar riffs for him in the studio during some kind of tea break i.e. it was not a serious recording session.
Bernard just fooled about on his guitar for about a minute, and when he finished, there was a "pin drop silence" from the music producer who's name I don't remember. Bernard even thought he had done something wrong, before the music producer quickly boke the silence and asked Bernard where he learned to do what he just did. Bernard, as I recall, told the music producer that he and Nile Rodgers evolved the guitar riffs and chucking he had just played, from joint private jamming sessions that he and Nile Rodgers had lately been having as at back then.
The music producer was mesmerised and the first priority of the music producer immediately became "introducing-to-the-world" that sound he had just heard from Bernard Edwards.

Classics never age.

SISTER SLEDGE VI AMOOOOOOOOO E VI AMERÒ PER SEMPRE !!!!!!!
RIP Joni Sledge I have my We Are Family Album. I was a little girl, during the 1970s Sister Sledge were one of my favorite singing sister Groups. Joni Sledge was my favorite one,she just stood out to me more with her gorgeous bone structure face. And that fuller and luscious hair, all of the sisters were gorgeous, but Joni was eye candy. She also seem to be more energetic than the other sisters. The 1970s & 1980s were the best Decade for great Group Singing Bands. And I loved the Glamorous Wardrobe Attire, during those two Decades.
Really nice comment. We'll always will be and stay lost in music and.Sister Sledge! Rest in peace Joni; you'll stay in my heart forever.
I love this song
Yay, Sister Sledge! Rest in peace, Joni Sledge. Thanks for posting!

Really pretty girl band with great music from my childhood.
The first times I listened to this song I was enraptured not only by the music, but by the voice especially, so delicate and sensual. Great group.
Le sorelle più meravigliose di sempre! 👍 Joni fantastica 🥳
They should send this music to the space! With best regards from planet Earth.
Something like that🙂
I’m not sure if aliens are into disco…
When it comes to 70s music, I'm mostly a punk/post-punk guy or more psychedelic kinda stuff. But I love this song to death. One of my top ten songs of the 70s and maybe even one of my all-time favorites
Real recognize real!!
Its just brilliant, isn't it?
Stirs the soul, almost otherworldly. This is music.
Gorgeous smile
How is possible don't like this music ??!!. At the twelve dislikes i just would say: "you don't love the music, is simply..". I was only fourtheen when this magic disco group maked masterpiece like this and today after almost 40 years all that miss me!.

We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music
We're lost in music
Feel so alive
I quit my nine to five
We're lost in music
Have you ever seen
Some people lose everything?
First to go is their mind
Responsibility
To me is a tragedy
I'll get a job some other time, uh-huh
I want to join a band
And play in front of crazy fans
Yes, I call that temptation
Give me the melody
That's all that I ever need
The music is my salvation
We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music
We're lost in music
Feel so alive
I quit my nine to five
We're lost in music
Mmm, hmm, in the spotlight
The band plays so very tight
Each and every night, uh-huh
It's not vanity
To me, it's my sanity
I could never survive
Some people ask me
What are you gonna be?
Why don't you go get a job? uh-uh
All that I could say
I won't give up my music
Not me, not now, no way, no how, oh, oh
We're lost in music
Caught in a trap (Caught up in our music)
No turnin' back (Ooh, ooh, ooh)
We're lost in music
We're lost in music (Don't take our away our music)
Feel so alive (Feel)
I quit (I quit) my nine to five (Yeah)
We're lost in music
We're lost in music (Melody is good to me)
Caught in a trap (I'm caught up in it)
No turnin' back (No, no, no)
We're lost in music (Ooh doo doo doo doo doo doo)
We're lost in music (La da da da da da da da, mmm... hmm...)
Feel so alive
I quit (I quit) my nine to five
We're lost in music (Lost in music)
We're lost in music
Caught in a trap
No turnin' back
We're lost in music
We're lost in music
