Lyrics:
I offer my life
Cursed in this shrine
Broken roots entwined
And I feel my insides breaking down
I bury it in time
I want to be part of light
Detritus open up my mind
If that’s what you like
Your lesions will blur the line
I, I had a dream of schism, force the Rule of Nines
Living in premonition, flowing from
The same place I learned to give in
It’s such a strange place so full of opposing forces
I, I had a dream of schism, force the Rule of Nines
In time I learned the rules of a sadist
Entwined till there’s nothing left to strain
No body full of pain to take from
They said it’s a cruel world
I learned the rules of a sadist
So I lay myself down in the shape of a body
I live in the figurative
I want to be part of light
Detritus open up my mind
If that’s what you like
Your lesions will blur the line
I, I had a dream of schism, force the Rule of Nines
Living in premonition, flowing from
The same place I learned to give in
It’s such a strange place so full of opposing forces
I, I had a dream of schism, force the Rule of Nines
My shrine
Premonition die
I learn to give

How these guys lost to metallica's old asses is a crime (metallica fan btw, but their time is long gone).
Agreed. I like a lot of metallica's stuff, but come on. No ones has taken them seriously for at least a decade at this point.

@@RobinBerkemeyerBro, come on. You know what fans expect. If awards for sound production is the only priority then fans need a different award show. The disconnect is real.
The bass line in this song is absolutely divine. Their bassist used the full power of the Triforce to write it.
check out TesseracT. Start with Altered State. They’re sooooo good!! Grooviest bass i’ve ever heard
Right! Just about to comment on that too! A year later! Lol
The bassist is the entire reason I’m listening to this right now, the band is great, really good ! but these bass lines are god tier and I’m here for it
Except their guitarist (the vocalists husband) wrote the music. I'm not sure about their current music but I know he wrote all the music for their earlier tracks while she wrote the lyrics and came up with the melodies. The drummer and bassists are actually pretty replaceable...in fact they have already went through 2 bassists and 2 drummers. Lol
This girl fucking CRUSHES vocals. The transition between singing and screaming and back is just effortless it’s really amazing.
I hope that u heard of band called Jinjer. Thank me later 😁
@@markostefanovic8138 Oh yeah of course dude, Jinjer is insane.
@@Zexrea no comparing pls
@@Zexrea Jinjer and Spiritbox are completely different but equally good, no valid comparison here
@@Zexrea cant even compare the two. Both bands have extremely different and very unique styles.
That breakdown at the end was so heavy I bench pressed my house to it
Award for funniest YT comment of 2019 goes to you

Almost spit my Beer out! Thanks for the laugh :D

Ha ha ha holy shit that’s funny....
Metalhead Me: I REALLY like the breakdown this time.
Girl Me: I want her dress.
No but truly. 💅🏽💀

yeah bc me as metalhead woundnt fit in her dress
The dress is nice, but the breakdown is nicer ;) ;) ;)
🤣🤣🤣
The bass player gets mad respect
Facts!
Can metal music be absurdly beautiful? Yes, it can.
Nobody in here doubted that
whats absurd about the meaning of existance?
I don't think I have ever wanted a band to release a full length more than Spiritbox 😂
This needs to be a thing in 2020
idk if I can handle both Spiritbox and Vildhjarta in one year
The TRUTH tho!!! Antici@%#$in'pation!!!
I think I prefer their current method of releasing stuff, it sorta just comes out of nowhere. I’m sure there will be a couple songs out next year at least 🤘
I think it's better that they dont. They haven't released a single bad song and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that they're not under pressure to release a full album.
Discovering Spiritbox is the best accomplishment in my life, no joke.
rauliii tzio That’s pretty sad actually
I understand how you feel because its so incredible :D
Well, maybe you should try to accomplish something more meaningful then.
It's true. This band is my favorite discovery of the past decade.
You should try Jinjer
I'm convinced the singer was a siren in a past life
The only good thing of this pandemic is discovering spiritbox🖤

Such a mature sound for such a young band.
Not that young actually :)
Very experienced musicians!
@@WhtRabbit Yeah, I feel the same way. BUT, Courtney LaPlante was a better fit for IWABO than Krysta Cameron.
I think spiritbox is better. 🖤
Christopher Paul yea I feel the same.. IWABO was crazy technical and great.. but Spiritbox’s slightly toned down and more melodic approach is more easily likeable.
I mean yeah they're all in their mid twenties but they've all been in previous bands (Fall In Arcahea, iwrestledabearonce, Unicron) but they really came into their own thanks to the guitarist.

Spiritbox is not another metalcore/djent band, this is pure art and totally new genre itself.
They are definitely a unique band! But they didn't create a genre lol this is pretty standard djent/post-hardcore, it's just kore special because they have the chick from Iwrestledabearonce.
@@bathumb45 can you recommend me more songs and bands like this one? The closest thing Ive ever heard was Elena siegman and kevin sherwood from black ops zombies
@@angelnobody7137 Periphery is one of the greats, check out anything off their Icarus EP. Captain On is my personal favorite song by them. The Color Morale might be your thing too, they have that same "dreamlike" sound that Spiritbox seems to be going for.
@@bathumb45 yeah, but they have their own vibe to it. The they have the replacement from IWABO helps with some dudes or girls cause oh a girl, but even if she wasnt from there.. her voice fits over that stuff better than spencers does in Periphery to my ears.. i hate his, and the new Veil of Maya vocalist, its just whiney sounding.. so id much rather listen to Spiritbox.
That off beat cymbal pattern at 0:40 is stank face inducing
Agreed.
Yeah that shit was sick! Way to point that out...

This song to me is a perfect formula for a metal song. it’s got a groovy crushing beginning, a huge ,catchy/ soaring melodic chorus, heavy as hell breakdown and yet another one to top it off at the end . It’s got a great contrast between heavy and melodic and it’s all done in under 4 mins. Absolute perfection
I can’t believe y’all have been nominated for the Grammy awards 👌🏻👌🏻 you can’t go wrong with Spiritbox. You guys are amazing
wish that break down would've kept going fuuuuucckkk

Glad I discovered this song... Regardless of how I did..
Not gonna lie, it is hard not to crush on Courtney, such skill, talent and beauty is not something you come across every day.

Cool youtube crossovers
Aww, hell yeah! Nice to see you here!
I can totally understand why. Insanity

Woah - my interests are colliding... Unexpected; very cool.
I love the ending where Courtney sounds like her heaviest yet but in the MV she's like an animated brainless husk, nice touch.
dwesk! long time kl user hope things are good. I just found this band do they have an album out or coming out? Im prsjunkie btw
@@wjveryzer7985 no clue dude, but they already have two nice EPs out.
Dwėsk she did that same thing way back in the Belcarra vid too, screaming but showing no emotion in the video.
If you watch her sing live she doesnt strain much to get these vocals out. Its pretty crazy.
all the older folks out there, dont you get a pretty strong queen of the damned ost vibe out of this?
MAJOR Queen of the Damned vibes. Love it.
Yup. Someone somewhere in the comments said this is like a female deftones.
Yesssssss. Was just thinking this! Spot on!
Its the bass line. Very Korn-ish. There are some comparables to her singing and JD too
Yes
What I don't get is why this song doesn't have millions of views, this is probably one of the most perfect things I've heard in years!
Now it has...
Because Courtney isn't rapping about her vagina over 808's and objectifying herself in the music video.
vocalist: ill wear juxtaposing outfits throughout our videos
bassist: ill dye my hair green for the other video to match the guitar
guitarist: alright guys my time to shine, ima wear a jean jacket for this video
LOL! In all fairness, bruh could be wearing a tux... I'd still be eye fucking that Aristides tho. lol Dude's got good taste. \m/

That Mick Gordon-ish synth at 0:21. Fucking sublime.
So that is where I know that synth comes from.
Thanks
damn, never realized that, I'm so surprised now
1:30 That guitar lick is insane it ramps up the chorus to the next level
Aside from the song being dope, can we please just take a moment to appreciate Courtney's makeup, slay queen
I wish I could pull off makeup like that
I'm a guy and I appreciate it much. She's so nice to look at.
She always looks so pretty!

2:05 - Coming out of possession
2:31 - "If that's what you like..."
3:16 - Side look growl
3:20 - Unleash

The harmonies in the chorus are special
This band instantly became my favorite
Go give a listen to their Mara Effect Album. The Mara Effect series is so very good
This song gives me chills even after 1000 plays. This is THE band right now.
There’s something so divine and empowering about this song, I’m not sure if it’s intended to be spiritual in nature but it definitely is for me. The lyrics are profound and carry such a depth, they are so rich with meaning of the spiritual path of death and rebirth… it can be very painful and very blissful at the same time, to let go of the false self, the mask you wore for so long you became convinced it was the real you, until you let it die to make room for who you really are to shine through. It’s letting go of what you know to be safety, security, it’s how you survived after all, but once you embrace your true self, once you step into your own power, you realize nothing can harm you.
i disagree, after she survived an abusive relationship, she was never the same and C AN'T find a real self to cling to
Well, I’m wearing my spiritbox shirt for a week straight again.
Every time I hear Spiritbox, I just wait for the choruses because you know you're getting a masterclass in how to craft organic greatness.
You can almost feel her pain when you see her scream in their music videos. Not like others you see. I love it
How would one describe this song in writing? From the vocals, to the bass, to the drums-pure perfection.
That base tone is awesome. the fills around 2:20 especially got me. great song
Especially with headphones
There aren't many bands that can actually bring me to tears when listening to their music. I can really sense the musicality in this band. They're something special.
the bassist for Spiritbox needs wwaaayyy more attention then what he gets. he slaps that thing hard as fuuuuuuck
I commit myself to spreading the word of this band as far and wide as I can.
The world needs more music like this!
This is the best fucking song I've heard in a long while. Excited if this is the direction. VERY haunting and heavily airy. Just perfect.
EDIT: Just read these lyrics. This is my favorite song right now. Repeat.
really well written song. catchy in 4/4 (i think) but feels more complicated and the screams fit perfectly. it builds up really well and the ending is pure explosion of emotions
Over and over and odr
Check out the band FRAYLE they are amazing 👌🏻
So are we gonna talk about that sick bass/drum groove in the second verse?
i cant hear this without "okay, it's time for singing, and then some screaming, and then some more singing and more screaming". i just cant unhear it now

That Chorus is so unbelievably powerful and beautiful at the same time, it's stuck in my head for the last 3 days and propably won't leave for the next couple of years. hopefully.
Everytime I listen to this I just hear Courtney saying there will be some singing, then some screaming, then some singing and more screaming.
Another brilliant track from spiritbox. Tour the US. Take my money I listen to your albums daily now.
This voice stole my heart, this breakdowns fill my soul.
If thats the only part you can apprevaite you're missing the vital other half. Its all about balance cant apprevaite the dark without learning and exploring its inverse. Until that happens a person will always be polarized and never achieve earn his/her crown (which comes from coming to the center (solve et coagula: alchemical/spiritual immolation and rebirth in purity)
