According to mythology, Mara visits men in their dreams, tortures them with desire, and eventually rips the very life from their bodies. NAILED IT!!!!!
The more I hear this, the more I become entrenched in the epic journey. It calls me (if that makes sense). Please keep making this type of music for the sake of humanity! This is art in music form.
I come back just to watch all three. I think this trilogy is brilliant perfection. For sure some deftones in there but in Spiritbox’s unique presentation of utter brilliance.
I was literally just wondering if I was the only person who got Deftones vibes from this band, then I looked at the comments section. This band is wonderful.
The opening riff to 'circle with me' . . . When I heard that I had to check out what else they were doing. I dived down the rabbit hole - I'm glad I did 😅😅
I've been listening to metal for 30 years, have had many favorite bands and now they are literally my favorite band of all time, they hit all the right notes in me, thanks for making this, this entire trilogy is a masterpiece! 💗
That's Marah. I could be wrong but I thinks it's talking about the Buddha's encounters with the demon Mara in which the demon was an obstacle for the Buddha to overcome to reach enlightenment
Actually I read something about Courtney talking about a sleep paralysis demon relating to these songs. Of course art is subjective. Derive your own meaning for these tracks.
Everyone is mentioning Deftones, but I hear a really wide variety of other influences, too. Tool, Buckethead, Bjork, Neurosis, Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders, Audioslave...

Watching this has made me realize I REALLY did not process how fucking weird the part three video is when I was 16 and first found this band. Like I love the video but like watching it now I definitely get the sort of unease I think it’s supposed to give you.
I miss this style of their music so much. Their newer stuff is great, but it's missing so much of what this brings that it ends up leaving me disappointed. We have enough pop metal style bands, more female fronted prog bands with good cleans/screams is just so rare comparatively. I hate that I can't even bring it up in the comments of their newer stuff, because people think just because you have a delay effect on your guitar and heavy guitar riffs on a song automatically makes it prog.
I kinda feel the same way. I don’t mind their newer stuff though. Their first EP will always be my go to Spiritbox music. I may feel like despite hearing their last three singles it’s maybe a bit too early to judge where they’re heading in terms of their style but that’s just me(maybe I’m just in denial). Still I would like to see Spiritbox evolve in these coming years ahead but I doubt they’ll ever come back to this style of music and take this with a grain of salt but I believe Courtney and Mike said that they were in a dark time when they wrote their first EP so they don’t ever want to go back to that again
Sooooo...I know Courtney uses the words “razor" and "blade" in this song, but, and I know this is weird, I know, every time she sings that section, in my head I hear her say “rollerblade” and I giggle like a child...
2 > 3 > 1, but I understand why you say that. Almost objectively, part 2 is the most musically complex, but ofc everyone's opinion of "good" or their favorites *don't* have to be based on musical depth and complexity like my tastes are. Cheers.
Does anyone know why they changed their drummer (and did they also change the bass player)? Furhtermore, the band uses quite a lot of synth sounds so their lineup deserves a real player because in live situations playing to playback always makes it feel little "fake".
The bass player Bill is still with the band. As for the drummer, I heard the reason why he’s no longer with the band is because he didn’t want to be away with his family for very long if the band were gonna start touring

My favorite metal band right now, one of the best musical discoveries this year.
I feel the absolute samr
Same.
It's been a year since I've found them and I cant wait for Eternal Blue!
A friend from another continent got me into them. Absolutely amazing.
AND NOW THEY WILL PLAY ON A FESTIVAL I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET TICKETS FOR!!!!!!!!!
i never would have found this band if it wasnt for all the jinjer i consume. We need more female fronted bands.
i found this from Make Them Suffer
I found them thourgh nik his reactions
same here
I found.jinjer through my love of spirtbox
YESSSSS

that bassist works his ass off and its f-ing awesome! groove bud f-ing groove!!!!

Check out Loathe
I discovered Spiritbox through Circle With Me, and I fell in love with them, and these 3 songs made me love them even more. They NEVER miss.
The opening riff to 'circle with me' . . . When I heard that I had to check out what else they were doing. I dived down the rabbit hole - I'm glad I did 😅😅
I can't with how good they are! Her voice is so mesmerizing 💙🖤
This band's versatility is amazing.
My son turned me onto them last year! Excellent!
I have NEVER heard ANYTHING like this before!!
Somewhere in Time - Periphery.

Part 1 definitely has a very Tesseract / Deftones feel to it. This band is amazing.
Part 3 is 100% tesseract channeling and I love it.
For those who don't HEAR the Deftones. Maybe a Digital Bath can clean those ears out a little. Lol
Mara part III
The deftones vibe is strong with this song, I love it!
Sounded familiar but I couldn't place it until I read this lol thank you for that
@@aleksandrrose1197 You've both made excellent comments and I commend you both for it.
Tesseract base for Mara pt. 2
Deftones is one of Spiritbox's inspirations.
Somewhere between deftones and team sleep i'd say
One of the best bands I've recently discovered. I found them on the Rockville roster and figured I'd listen. Can't wait to see them live!
favorite metal band of everyone .. best singer , best sound ....
absolutely forgot how good these were dang
11:55 till end, best part \m/
Unreal!!! Goosebumps 👌
Agreed. I wish it was 10 minutes longer. I love it way too much, including the buildup
Not sure how this band popped up on my recommended 4 months ago, but bloody hell, incredible!
That vocal bend downward on pt 3 is so sick
I think pt 3 is my favorite just for that
beautiful, right in them feels
Love her natural look with black hair :)
i cannot stop watching this on repeat :-)
M3 either
Excelente felicitaciones por su trabajo, gracias por compartir...😍🥰
their self titled is easily my favorite spiritbox album and their best one
This Spiritbox sound is so... enticing..
In love with this trilogy
Thanks for doing this!
Amazing 😍!! All of them together, makes me wanna cry. It that amazing to me 🤘🙂.
I love how she faces the band when she sings on this video
love the Periphery Juggernaut Omega vibes here!
This Band is simply awesome.
3 creeps me the fuck out and I’m in love -_-
my most hyped band to see at blue ridge rock fest
On repeat hahahaha... I gotta stop... but it’s unbearable if I think static is sanity... for sure one of the best sets I have heard in a while...
I absolutely agree ❣️. Can't get enough but at the same time... I wanna cry a little bit 🥺🤘❣️
Mara is bitter waters. Moses placed the stick into the waters and it was made sweet. Such a legendary story.
That's Marah. I could be wrong but I thinks it's talking about the Buddha's encounters with the demon Mara in which the demon was an obstacle for the Buddha to overcome to reach enlightenment

@@cusco587 The lyrics are about a friend of them who suffers from sleep paralysis (represented by Mara). These 3 songs project her experiences.

Lyrics for all parts

I am never truly alone
Acceptance is slipping in, gripping limbs
Its crooked fingers intertwine
They cradle us together
A hundred years alone could never make it stop
Push it back
I cannot fit, I cannot feel
They should not see, suspended in time
And their eyes are like razors
The edges can sharpen the line
This is love, this is ordinary life
What a thrill stringing up
Splendid lights to paralyze
They burn to the touch, pretending at God
Listen to the blood, razor blade eyes
I want a goddamn mess to ignite the fire
I want to lie in severance, leave me to cut my teeth
Pretending at God is a custom
The vessel to siphon my love from
Their eyes are a razor to cut me down, cut me down
This is love
This is love, this is ordinary life
What a thrill cheap enough
To get caught on the edge this time
Razor blade eyes
This is love, this is love
Make it stop, this is love
This is love, make it stop
Make it stop
This is love, this is love
Make it stop, this is love
This is love, this is love
This is love, this is love
--------------------- *Part.2* ---------------------
Teeth in crumbs like sand in my mouth
Four little fingers keep pulling them out
Four little hands, they keep pulling me, pulling me down
I try to grin, I try to scream
Please say anything, the frequencies ringing it out
Where is love, are you ordinary with me now?
Meet me down in the mud
I will call on you when there's nothing left to say
Soon, the hour will come
Look over your shoulder
There's no need to run anymore, anymore
I know I'm easily affected
Her arms are like a serpent spinning me around
Can she see?
Lights go out when there is nothing left to say
Soon, the hour will come
Look over your shoulder
There's no need to run anymore, anymore
Mirror me, I'm down here in the mud
This is ordinary in my suffering
There's no cheaper thrill
It's malevolent, can't go unaffected
Sing to me, something sweet, threatening
You cling to me, blood of ophidian
Until me, help me, I'm crippling
You won't sacrifice my love, meet me down in the mud
--------------------- *Part.3* ---------------------
I am a prisoner here
Weave the synthetic when wrapping up my wrists
I don't truly dream when you're near
Loosen aesthetics remain asphyxiated on the paint peeling back from the door
Now I can see you for what you are
She drew the shape on the floor
Now I can see the full spectrum
How can I feel existential dread?
It's my fear
I am eternal
Hurt me with your mouth, make me settle down
Whispering the words on the wind as they blow
Heartbeat in the nest, pressure on my chest
Where did all the signs of the dissonant go?
And when they tell me they pray for me and they lack a certain empathy
The enemy hits me so low
So the circles on the ground make me settle down
Hurt me, give me something from nothing
This is the lie that you come from
Meet me down in the mud
She is the mother and she loves it when we all hurt each other
Proud that her children are weak
I am a language that you have hidden in a syllable
And now you're refusing to speak
I don't even cry anymore
I don't even cry anymore
Hurt me with your mouth, make me settle down
Whispering the words on the wind as they blow
Heartbeat in the nest, pressure on my chest
Where did all the signs of the dissonant go?
And when they tell me they pray for me and they lack a certain empathy
The enemy hits me so low
So the circles on the ground make me settle down
Hurt me, give me something from nothing
This is the lie that you come from

SO DAMN GOOOOOOD
I was going to point out a specific member of the band, but they are all too talented for me to do that
