    • @allymac3000
      @allymac3000 4 роки тому

      It's probably because your text isn't center-aligned in the paragraph tab, but rather left-aligned.

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  4 роки тому

      Allison I think you're right! Although if it's moving to the left it's probably right-aligned. Victor, in the Paragraph tab change the text justification to centre and that should fix it, although you will need to reposition the text when you make that change

    Is there a way to use this method but rather than them just fade away, its a slow rotation to each letter as well as the fade?

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  6 років тому +1

      Sure, just click on animation again where you got the tracking option from, and then choose Rotation, and keyframe that where you want it to be. It should rotate the letter randomly since you've applied the animation after the random offset function. Let me know how that works for you

    • @FinalFrontierProductions
      @FinalFrontierProductions 6 років тому

      You da best! Its kinda there! But its rotation on the wrong axis! Its rotation off the bottom line versus rotating on the center point of each letter! But ill keep playing around and see if I can get it to work!

    Great Video!! Is there a way to do a similar effect in Adobe Premier Pro?

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  4 роки тому +1

      Sure, type out each letter as an individual layer then keyframe a Gaussian Blur effect with an offset on each letter so they blur in and out of focus at different times. Then also keyframe the opacity of the layers to fade in and out with the blur.
      OR
      You can just buy my Essential Graphics preset which will do it all for you 😉 sellfy.com/dodmedia/p/5pUp/

    Great Vid! Is there a way to select what letters fade out first? I want to form a phrase with the letters remaining before fading. Thanks!

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  5 років тому +1

      There probably is a way with expressions but the math is beyond me. Your best bet would be to create your sentence like this, then mask out the letters you want to use to spell something out so you can place individual new text layers there instead and match them so they look and animate the same way. That way you have complete control over each masked letter while the rest remains random in terms of animation

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  5 років тому +1

      Let me know if that makes sense. Not sure what your level is with after effects!

    • @JuanPabloSchneider
      @JuanPabloSchneider 5 років тому

      Yeah! Great solution. I had thought of rewriting the letters I want to keep, but think this way is easier. Thank you!

      It might look odd as some characters are in focus before others. Unless that's the look you want?

      @@dodmedia I wasn’t wanting to blur separate parts of the text actually. I just wanted to know how to create a blur effect on text. I’m familiar with Final Cut Pro but have recently switched to Adobe after switching to an iPad. Now I need to use my gaming pc. So still learning the basics on premiere lol.

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  3 роки тому +1

      Oh right! In that case just apply the blur effect you want to the text layer rather than this method. This will affect each character in your text layer separately. The Camera Lens Blur will give you the most realistic blur if you're doing camera focus racks

    Do you know how to make this in premiere pro

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  11 місяців тому

      No easy way unfortunately. Best bet is that you make your text layer how you want it, add the Gausian Blur effect, keyframe it to the timing you want, then duplicate the layer so you've got 3 or 4 copies stacked up. Then mask out letters with the Opacity mask across all the layers so each layer reveals specific letters, then stagger the layers on the timeline so they're not all unblurring at the same time. You'll get the same effect, and the more layer copies you make, the more of a random effect you can achieve.

    Great tutorial, but I've a question: how I can fade the text, but let one single word remain?

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  5 років тому +1

      When all the letters of the word you want to remain are 100% opaque, superimpose a duplicate of that word without any of the opacity and blur animations. That way as the other letters and words fade away, that one word will stay up on screen. 💪

    • @erinclay4917
      @erinclay4917 5 років тому

      how long should one leave a title up for? or how long should transitions be? etc. much appreciated. Here's a UX viewpoint: if you made a blog post to follow allow it would help greatly. as a beginner in AE, it's like being a 1st grader in AE.. but don't infantilize me...I'm sure there are things that you are a 1st grader in some topics lol and having adhd sucks because i have to go back over and over when people go too fast- that's generally a good thing for the expert in translation to the working world as that is less billable time to the employer.. but if teaching and trying to be inclusive to novice AE people ya don't wanna miss some steps because it may discourage some because they can't figure out what they need to do and a fraction of such users may give up... to never return. Which can be a good thing: less possible competition? Or a bad thing: They just keep making crappy cringeworthy video and rehashing trite memes until they are 83.

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  5 років тому +3

      I'd say a title should range anywhere from 3 to 8 seconds. Obviously it depends. Might be it only needs 2 seconds on screen, might be it needs 15 seconds while the edit behind it changes rapidly. But as rule of thumb I wouldn't keep a title up for more than 8 seconds especially if it's the one shot behind it or just a blank screen. It's a good idea about writing a blog to accompany it so that you don't have to keep going back in the video, I could do that for my website, and it would certainly help users who have ADHD or who aren't native English speakers. I understand Ae is a super complex program, especially from the viewpoint of a beginner, and certainly didn't mean to infantilise you, but your original comment didn't exactly give me much to go on. Are you saying the title was too fast? The tutorial was too fast? That you left after 5 seconds? Feedback like your second comment is always appreciated, and gives me ideas about how I can improve my teaching. But that first comment helps nothing and no one.

    • @RuudB

      DOD Media Some editing theory describes you, as an editor, should read the text out lout three times before it disappears again. That’s a general rule of thumb to make sure people who read it for the first time are able to take in the entire text.

    • @dodmedia
      @dodmedia  4 роки тому

      I've heard 2 times, I've heard you should be able to inhale a full breath after finished reading, there are lots of theories but since everyone reads at different speeds it doesn't mean much. With my infographic work, timing is crucial, and I guarantee you it doesn't stay on long enough to read 3 times out loud. You've just got to feel how long it needs to be, and if you're unsure ask someone to have eyes on it and say what they felt.
