I hope you were able to include information on oils that are toxic to animals and also children in the book! So many people don’t realize that they can potentially cause real injury when used around pets and children, depending on the type of oil. ❤️
We went on vacation many years ago, and the house we had rented hadn't been aired out in quite some time, though it had been cleaned. When we went in, we were overwhelmed with the smell. We went to the grocery store, and I picked up a bottle of vinegar, we went back to our rental - I put it in the bowl on the kitchen table, opened some windows, and we left for a few hours. We came back - no odors at all. Smelled fresh. This works like a charm, and very quickly.
I put a paper towel to line the bottom of waste paper baskets and my kitchen trashcan. I put a few drops of essential oil on the paper towel. Rosemary, geranium, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon etc...depending on how I feel. Dual purpose. Keeps the bottom of the can clean. I replace the towel if their are any drips or leaks from the trash bag and helps reduce odor by keeping bacteria count down. Of course, empty trash daily.
I’ve got one of the el cheapo plastic trash cans for my kitchen and I just regularly clean it. Mostly because my dog uses it a lot of time as his marking spot if I’ve been gone too long… I clean with alcohol or lemon Lysol cleaner and leave it outside to dry out.
@@karenrollins9578 yep, dogs literally get pissed off at us when we are not there to take them out.. Have you tried training him on a pee pee pad for those times ya can’t get home in time? I trained my dog for that with happy voice and fresh rotisserie chicken from the supermarket when I set him on the pad ( he knew it was a very special thing) after rubbing the pad in some of his pee and growled at him with a No at his marking spot. He got it after awhile.
I live out in the country, but not too close to farm animals. I live in CO and open my windows especially, this summer we have had good amounts of rain and the temps at night in the mid 50's to 60's. I have a cat and scoop his box once a day. I never smell anything bad there. I don't have any particular scent, but I do like lavender essential oil. I just cleaned my furnace filter for fall coming up. I occasionally use murphy soap to clean my wood cabinets. That will remove any film from cooking smells or other smells in the bathroom. Cleaning clothes and bedding is a must as well, regularly. Thank you for all your wise cleaning advice!
I want my house to smell like fresh white flowers, not strong at all, just a gentle wisp of it. I recently found Lilly of the Valley Essential oil and I started adding 4 or 5 drops on our front door mat and everytime I come home I get a suttle hint of them. It seems the longer the oil is there it smells better so about 3 days in, it smells so soft and clean.
That's an awesome idea! I've used some drops on my light bulbs, a hack I learned several yrs ago, and normally use lavender in our bedroom.. I also sprinkle a few drops on my pillow, inside the pillow case. In addition, in the pillow cases, and pillows, throw or sleeping pillows, and bedsheets, I also sprinkle some baby powder & dryer sheets. I learned that from my Grandma, that passed away when I was only 13, (Wow, 40yrs ago! Just realized that) but I remember her room always smelling sooo fresh, and she told me about that "secret". No one knew what "life hacks" were at the time, but it makes a HUGE difference. I did it in my boys rooms while they were growing up, and now in my grandson's room, especially right before he comes over for the wkend. I want my house to always smell FRESH, like linen-fresh, rain-fresh, like O just did a bunch of laundry, and you can smell all the fresh laundry throughout my house. I know very little about essential oils...I wonder if they have a linen scent?? That fresh laundered, linen on the line smell makes me feel like my house is spotless clean, even if I only halfway cleaned. The snell makes it feel like I scrubbed the entire house from top to bottom. I even used to take a shower gel, lotion & body spray or perfume in the same kind of scent when Bath & Body Works were still in business. Miss that store!!
My ideal home smell is an almost unnoticeable lemon (spring and summer) or vanilla (fall and winter) scent. So light that most people won’t conscientiously know why they enjoy my home.
@@chanel2018-k3z if you want a treat, take a lemon or orange and cut it into quarters, use it for cooking or whatever, then run what is left of it through your disposal (assuming you’ve removed the seeds already for its other uses). It smells SO.GOOD. I have a hierarchy of uses for lemons in my kitchen, after you use it to make a chicken dish pop you can microwave a bowl of water with a lemon wedge in it and then EASILY wipe clean your microwave, then you can boil lemons in your non-nonstick cookware to get the residue scrubbed off of them easily that builds up in the bottom, then you toss that sucker into the disposal and grind it up to get a lovely smelling kitchen for a few hours. My husband loves it when I do this, so much so he uses lemons before I get to them just to get to that part. Anyways you can do this alone and it’s great, and if you’ve been using your disposal for food this will help clean the blades and keep it smelling nice. I also like to do baking soda plus vinegar in my drains followed by running hot water for a minute to keep ‘em from getting funky. It’s honestly just a nice little thing I like to do for me, half of the time. The little things, right?
Essential oils help with keeping pests at bay as well. I live in an old building apartment, near water, Spiders abound! They're most active in the spring and fall. I drop lavender oil all around my door threshold down my drains in the bathroom(yes they come up through the drain)on my closet floor, anywhere I know where they have been in the past. It works amazingly, they reall don't like the smell of lavender. I've also planted lavender on my flower bed right outside my door. I guess you have figured out by now, I DON'T LIKE SPIDERS! On a side note, my house doesn't smell like lavender.
I have lived on the beach and in an orange grove. I love both those scents in warm weather. For a time our neighbor had an ancient eucalyptus tree right outside my window. Then my dad planted gardenias down the fence line. That combination sounds weird but in small doses it smell like heaven.
Those are great ideas. Just a note about the oils and diffusers. Please be aware that certain sents should not be used around pets. Some of the oils used in a diffuser can be toxic to pets.
Carol's Daughter has a hair line called Wash Day, and it smells amazing. It's a combination of aloe, geraniums, lemon, bergamot, lime, and "fragrance". I wish my entire house smelled like it all the time.
In the summer I love the fresh air. But when the house stays closed up i love citrus or vanilla. Very subtle but soothing. I am sensitive to most fragrances and avoid floral or anything strong. Great video!
My ideal home scent changes with the season. I love balsam or pine at Christmas, oranges in early winter, chai tea or cinnamon and nutmeg around autumn, lilac and hyacinth in the spring, and probably just like you, fresh air in the summer (the most difficult season to manage smell for me). Thanks for this video of great tips, and for all you do.
Springtime I like linen scents. Summer I like fresh rain or mountain air. Fall I like pumpkin/apple, and spice. Winter I like a sophisticated woodsy vanilla.
Could Clean My Space please make a video with all cruelty-free cleaning products? I'm having a hard time after learning that the most common cleaners, detergents, and fresheners all needlessly test on innocent animals. A video would truly help me out. Thanks for all that you do.
After moving to the Middle East I’ve learned the art of incense in the home. They have the most beautiful smells 🥰 some are sweet and subtle but the scents stick to the fabrics and they smell wonderful 🤍
If you’re coming here sure I can recommend stores 😅 but like perfumes, everyone has different tastes. Abdulsamad Al Qurashi is my absolute favorite store for Oud and Arabic perfume blends.
I always have windows open, even a crack In The winter. I have air purifiers in the living room and bedrooms. (Allergies - they help and dust buildup). Yes! Yes! With pets I vacuum often. I’m disabled so these help keep my house smelling clean. No energy to clean every day and deep cleaning* a few times a year takes me over a week. Vinegar and water with some lemon is my go to all purpose cleaner. Sprinkle baking soda on carpets twice a month then vacuuming helps. I live near the Jersey shore. The humidity is awful. My dehumidifier is a godsend!
Oh! I never knew that! I always hate waking up the next morning to my house smelling like last night’s dinner. I just usually wait it out until the small dies down. I’ll have to try this!!
I absolutely love Linen and Lavender wallflower plugs from Bath and Body Works. It just gives me a happy feeling every time I get a whiff of it. It’s not overpowering. I also have a diffuser for those days when I want an extra boost of aromatherapy. I diffuse peppermint/lavender or peppermint/grapefruit combos. In the summer, the trash stays outside. I leave a small bucket for trash in the kitchen which I empty everyday.
I like the Lavender Vanilla and Eucalyptus Rain scents from BBW. They are scents that work year-round. But in fall, I do like the seasonal scents, usually will go with Pumpkin Clove or an apple scent. Christmas/Winter I love the Vanilla Birch scent.
I love Molly!!! I had a male cat years ago that looked just like her and now I have a fluffy breed male that looks the same. In a home I lived in two years ago I used to mix just a small amount of sandalwood with water and spray a little every now and then. It was such a beautiful warm smell !!! In a closed media room I mixed bergamot with lavendar in a plug in diffuser and when my husband and I would go to watch TV it would smell so good. I also used the vinegar in the bowls thing back when my dog got skunked!!! It actually helped.😁
I love how super chill and happy Molly is! You should always have at least one more litter box than you have cats, and you should absolutely clean them every day. Every time you poop, go scoop the poop. Getting a litter genie helps, even though it seems like a silly purchase, it makes ppl more likely to clean the box bc it’s easily and quickly done, you don’t have to go get a bag or find the stuff. I’ve been having the toughest time finding activated charcoal at a reasonable price lately. I want some for a terrarium
I agree when people walk in the house must smell like nothing ❤️ that’s the ideal smell. I just moved into a home and had to use the ozone generator and air purifier to get rid of the previous owners house odours. Love this video.
I wonder if an ozone gen snd air purifier would work on neighbors odors. We live in a townhouse and my neighbors smoke pot and cook some funky smelling food all day and it seeps into my home. Puts me in an instant bad mood and I cant enjoy being home.
@@tiny.terrorist.negotiator Sorry to hear about your situation. Before going out to spend money on an Ozone generator and air purifier… there is a lot of danger and hazards using the ozone generator without proper knowledge and training. Read up on it and speak to a professional before approaching that method. If the neighbour scents are making its way into your home there may be a problem with the building code and ventilation.
@@tiny.terrorist.negotiator saaaaame! Cigarette smoke and carpeted hallways holding on to all smells and it comes through the vents and through the walls. I bought 2 air purifiers and keep windows open as much as possible but my clothes and belongings still smell. It's unfortunate that people can't enjoy living in their own homes that they pay for because of neighbors choices 😕
I love Mrs Meyers Iowa Pine all purpose cleaner. My daughter says that it smells like Christmas. I stock up on it and use it all year long. Fresh clean smells are my favorite.
There's nothing worst than entering your home with the scent of the dinner you made 3days ago. Yes a good scent throughout your home is essential. Essential oils are my friend
I once bought a diffuser but decided to throw it out before I even took it out of the box, when I heard how most oils are very dangerous to animals (which, as you mentioned, is the primary source of odors) - they have a much more powerful sense of smell that, although oils may not kill them instantly, over time damage can be done to their bodies, so much so and so slowly you may not corelate the two. I know some say there are some that are safe around pets - but, frankly, I don't take that chance. I'm all for odor elimination - as you mentioned, however. I hope you strongly warned people in your book. My other concern is if oils can harm animals, isn't it possible it can harm us and we don't even realize it - like a miner's canary.
I don’t like them either. I’m also concerns about mold from a diffuser since I live in a humid climate. I prefer the smell of food cooking and not have that mixed with any other non-food scent.
My son cooked burgers two nights in a row and for someone who is terrible at cleaning afterwards, my house smells horrible trying to get the smell out! I've opened the windows sprayed odoban everywhere! I'll definitely try the vinegar activated charcoal and baking soda! I want my house to smell like fresh air too! Love your channel!
I swear by baking soda, vinegar, lemon & salt for cleaning. I love lavender, rosemary, cedar, pine & mint essential oils (they also naturally repel bugs). I place a few drops in the vacuum bag & air vent filters.
We switched from kitty litter to using pine pellets for the litter box. It smells good, is natural, compostable, economical, lasts longer, and nontoxic. With four dogs, bathing my dogs monthly and brushing them daily, the dog odor is minimized. I want my home to smell like the outside except when I am burning a candle. My favorite candle scents are the more forest oriented.
I agree about the kitty litter!! The only time I notice it getting stinky is when it’s really humid, and that is always solved when I run the dehumidifier in the basement
I will try Lilly of the Valley essential oil!! Like what Cyndi has written in the comments. Our son is incontinent and it's a battle to keep his sheets clean. He is 28yrs old but mentally is about 5yrs old, he has Downs and severe Autism. Like you Melissa using essential oils in a spray bottle. Joan Bates I just want our home to be fresh and clean!!!
Peppermint or Lavender. Those are my favorites. I do want my house to smell like something, great memories accompanied with smells, for me, makes the memories sweeter.
I use tidy cat pure and simple clumping cat litter unscented. I have been very happy with it. I clean it free of clumps several times a day, and clean the whole box and change the litter every month. This is what my vet uses in her clinic. My cat was having alot of wheezing going on when I was using any litter that was scented. My vet told me not to use scented litter. I sometimes add baking soda also. Another thing is I add a doggie pad under the litter to absorb urine but find even urine clumps very well with Tidy cat. You can get 40 pounds for $23.
I live in an old house from the 1800s that we are restoring and I seem to be the only one that notices the smell. We got cinnamon scented broom decoration that made the smelliest part smell so much better. I'm hoping as we restore the house it will start to smell better.
I remember when there was a horrible smell once and my mom couldn't figure out where it was coming from. They pulled out the dishwasher and there was old, stagnant water just sitting there for who knows how long. It was NASTY!! My dad was in the kitchen and I assumed the bad smell was his breath and first and just didn't want to say anything. Lol. That is a smell I will never forget. I wonder how many other people have water like that under their dishwasher without knowing it.
A good deodorizer is listerine mouth wash. It was originally sold as a floor wash.after cleaning your bathroom and kitchen wipe hard surfaces down with a spray bottle of listerine. It’s good in drains as well.
My mother used to put Jazmin flowers from the Jazmine plant we have outside. My whole home as a kid smells like Jazmine. And I love that smell. Fresh clean Jazmine. But so far to me the only things that smells like Jazmine are the Fresh Jazmine. I also love the sent of Vanilla. Like in everything. My perfume . House oils. Same thing every time I'm wearing a perfume with vanilla on it. People love it. People can't avoid to ask me what is my perfume. And it's easy. It's vanilla.
Westin Hotel has a shop it has has an amazing scent called White Tea. It is my all time favorite scent collection. I have the home diffuser, reed diffuser and the bathroom collection.
I live in the mountains and when the weather is warm, I leave the windows open. If I could, I'd like my apartment to smell like Balsam Fir. Great Video! Thank you.
Your video reminded me I should have my bed coverlet dry cleaned. Sheets are clean but I don't clean the coverlet because it would be expensive. I'll bet it is a major HO source!
I hate that * bed * smell. I keep a few house plants inside and basically just keep the house clean. I have basic cleaning prodects in a cupboard in every room of the house, so I'm not running back and forth to grab what I need. I keep bedroom windows open just a couple of inches all year round and try to have the front door open even just a couple of inches in winter to keep the air flowing. I live on top of a mountain where the air is very clean and fresh. That also helps eliminate odours. Odours are caused by bacteria so again keep your house clean and most of the problems are solved.....I had a cleaning business for just over 20 years, I like cleaning.
Bright citrus notes in the summer & warm cedar, sandalwood & lavender (etc) notes in the winter for my home. My grand daughters boyfriend regularly passes comment on the beautiful fragrance of my home. Even my personal fragrance doesn’t go unnoticed; which I find very charming. I don’t like overwhelm, but do enjoy fragrance in my environment.
I love for my house to smell like lemon in the spring, berries in the summer, pumpkin in the fall, and apples in the winter. I burn a lot of candles, but I also have 3 self cleaning litter boxes for my four kitties to assist with the odor control. Also got rid of all carpet.
My house smell changes by the day. Usually, I'd say it smells neutral. But when dishes get stacked up or the trash needs to be taken out, it starts to wreak. I am a fan of scent beads in certain wash especially curtains because at least for a short period of time my house smells amazing! But they really do not last long.
We have a Chocolate Lab and we vacuum every other day. I pour baking soda (the one with the pets on the box) on the carpet, wait for 20-40 mins and then vacuum. It has a great aroma and my house always smells fresh. It also helps catch more percentage of hair. People come to our home and always get impressed when they see our big dog coming in and out. She's trained and we try to keep her clean as well.
This video came at a perfect time! My Hubby and I were working away from home and we were gone for 5 days. Our house was closed up and when I came in it smelled stale. Not bad but just not how I wanted it to smell (BTW...I want my house to smell like fresh air or neutral). I'm really not sure what the source of the smell is. I live in a home that was built in 1900...we have done renovations and made it into our dream home. Our crawl space does have an opening into our main floor so that may be the cause of smelling stale. I do keep my home pretty clean. I may try charcoal or baking soda. Also, I think if I would have left a fan on while we were gone it would have circulated the air preventing the stale smell. I'm interested to know if anyone else has experienced this with their home.
We have a house that's the same age, and when we first moved in we experienced that "old house" smell. I put some containers of "Damp Rid" in the closets and cabinets and it worked quite well!
I've been a pet & house-sitter for years & noticed that when no one's home full time , the doors and / or windows not opening &closing often enough , houses may not smell bad , but don't smell fresh either . First off , I make sure all garbage & waste cans were emptied & clean as folks would be in a hurry to leave & forget this . Then I'd regularly / daily open windows when I was at clients' homes doing different tasks ; I'd also do what I called a "welcome home prep " the day before or day of clients return - lots of fresh air , windows open , ceiling fans on , lemon scent or whatever the client used rinsed down kitchen / bath drains /toilets . Pet dishes sparkling clean & if possible , I laundered pet bedding . One weekend or one month , I wanted it to be nice to come home to .
@@cynthiajohnston424 you make a really great point! Thank you so much for this! Also, are you a pet & house-sitter in the Philly area by chance, because if you are I would totally hire you!!!! :)

As a clean freak when it comes to my home I almost hate how I’m sensitive to smell because any house I go into I almost always hate the smell. This is mainly because not everyone I know and love are clean freaks and so in their homes I smell their kids, animals, dirty clothes, old food, dirty carpet, and so on. Mind you it’s not like I only know dirty people lol the friends and family’s homes I go into are average families but not everyone is mindful of their homes scent 😩
We have a vacation rental cabin and I prefer it to smell like nothing as you say. This to me means we are not hiding or masking anything. While I love nice scents, when our housekeeper gets done it smells good. It doesn’t matter if the house isn’t cleaned right. Often times I am redoing the cleaning after I inspect. When I leave after cleaning, there is little to no scent. I am big on using varying strengths of Dawn, vinegar, water and sometimes lemon juice for everything floor to ceiling except the toilet. Some guests leave behind more odors than others and I will use a linen scented disinfectant spray on the entire house. I find opening windows running the ceiling fans and changing or airing out the bed coverings and throw rugs will freshen the inside air better than sprays. If its not clean, it doesn’t smell clean. We are in the woods. I would prefer a natural woodsy smell if I had a choice.
I always recommend a product called Nature's Miracle. A pet store staple. I recommend it to people without pets. I have used it for harsh smells and accidents. I also put puppy pads at the bottom of my sifting cat boxes. It has been a game changer.
Is funny you ask, I have a niece that told me I love walking into you house because it’s smells like beach tropical. I always find candles and things to make my house to smell beach clean .
High quality litter… WORLDS BEST LITTER is what I absolutely love, it’s flushable, safe for well and septic systems! I scoop often and clean her litter box. I think that these are keys to a no smell litter box.

Drying outside is awesome, but to get rid of that line dry feel, just toss in the dryer for like 2 minutes with a fabric sheet. The outside does the hard work and a quick tumble makes you feel better. Just a thought. I agree with line dry, things are bit tough to the touch sometimes.
Thank y’all for the suggestions, but I don’t line dry 😂! I do like the smell of sun dried laundry, but I live in Texas, and right now we are having 100+* days! And our winters get down in the 20s. I do not even have an outdoor clothesline 🤣😂🤣
In other words CLEAN regularly and the house will not even need any scent, it will have the clean scent. I do love essential oils, but they are harmful to dogs, I didn’t know that until the other day, and I am sure not many of us are aware. Thanks for sharing ✌️
I agree a clean house doesn't need a scent but if you have a pet even the cleanest house the pet can 'stink up the place 'so to say . I think the best way is to be on top of your cleaning and you should be right 🐈
@@helenfitch3440 I agree, I have two labs, but I manage to live more or less odor free with my weekly washing theirs and our stuff, and I make sure they are only laying down on stuff we are able to constantly toss on the washer….best solution 😊
About a month ago, my cat ran into the house after being too close to a skunk. Luckily he hadn’t been sprayed, but he was very stinky!! Vinegar saved my house. I put out bowls and cranked all my windows and it was gone in a couple hours. Unfortunately, the only way to rid my kitty of the stink was a bath.
Yep ! Had three big dogs get skunked at night , cold weather , & husband away on business trip - aaaaggghhh !!! Opened windows etc. & bathed dogs w/ Dawn dish soap - soaped one at a time and let soap do its thing , then rinsed them in order like an assembly line ! Funny story now but at the time ... 😀
It depends on the time of year. So in spring and autumn I like my house to smell citrusy. in winter I love Australian eucalyptus it's great for clearing sinuses. Summer time like the outside or like strawberries.
This is one channel that offers useful practical advice rather than unnecessary fancy cooking. I sure as heck do not care to spend all my leisure time in a kitchen when there are more important things to do.
Hi I get this a lot. My flat smells so good like fresh air and by hospital nurses and others people that I come in contact with that I smell like fresh air clean, but I only use basic products on my self and in my home do not use anything to make my Flat smell nice not even a air freasiner spray or fabric softener I can not stand them I just keep everything clean and open windows when I can. As my gran used to say clean house = smell free house.
I want my house to smell like Bed Bath & beyond, every time I walk in the I just love the way it smells. But my favorite essential oil to use is lemongrass.
We just moved into a rental while our forever house is being built. The house had pets and it stinks. We deep cleaned (washed the walls, mopped floors, wiped the cabinets and vacuumed and shampooed the carpet) and it still smells. We cleaned up a ton of cat hair and grime. I even purchased your Maker’s Mop kit. I will apply your tips and hope they will help. I love the smell of nothing or clean house.
If the smell doesn’t clear out, consider using ZeroRes for carpet and grout cleaning. My rental smelled slightly of dog in one room when I first moved in, and I think it was because the normal carpet shampoo emphasized the smell. I had them clean the grout and it smelled even worse while in progress, but didn’t notice anything by the next day.
I like to dry my clothes, bed linen, cushion covers and curtains outside on the line- washing dried on the line just smells so much better than anything artificial and it means the house smells fresher too. Artificial scents from washing powders and those tumble drying sheets always smell too strongly and just not as nice as something dried in the garden. In winter that can’t be helped, but I do an extra rinse to rid my clothes of the detergent scent when I can.

My ideal home smell is an almost unnoticeable lemon (spring and summer) or vanilla (fall and winter) scent. So light that most people won’t conscientiously know why they enjoy my home.
Ooooh I love and aspire to this!!!
Lavender and lemon in the diffuser is my FAVORITE during Spring and Summer.
How do you achieve this? :)
Throwing out the trash everyday, cleaning the sink regularly and vacuuming twice a week has made a huge difference!
I never have used my garbage disposal. Bought (our home) brand new 10 years ago. Never used. I think they smell. 🤷🏼♀️
@@rainbomg Aren’t you a sweetheart for sharing that. I wish you a lovely day. 💜 Yes, I will try your suggestions.
OH my! I throw the trash out every 15 days, am I under doing it or are you doing it too much?
@@sakanablesakanable depends, do you have a garbage disposal and/or compost?
Essential oils help with keeping pests at bay as well. I live in an old building apartment, near water, Spiders abound! They're most active in the spring and fall. I drop lavender oil all around my door threshold down my drains in the bathroom(yes they come up through the drain)on my closet floor, anywhere I know where they have been in the past. It works amazingly, they reall don't like the smell of lavender. I've also planted lavender on my flower bed right outside my door. I guess you have figured out by now, I DON'T LIKE SPIDERS! On a side note, my house doesn't smell like lavender.
I love the way outside smells after a good rain - soft, fresh, clean.
I love going outside after a rain.
Me too. Do you have lots of houseplants?
@@Serf_dom lol, no. I tend to kill them 😬
I have lived on the beach and in an orange grove. I love both those scents in warm weather. For a time our neighbor had an ancient eucalyptus tree right outside my window. Then my dad planted gardenias down the fence line. That combination sounds weird but in small doses it smell like heaven.
That sounds wonderful! Thanks for watching :)
Those are great ideas. Just a note about the oils and diffusers. Please be aware that certain sents should not be used around pets. Some of the oils used in a diffuser can be toxic to pets.
Especially to cats, their liver cannot metabolize the oils breathed in or absorbed through skin, and can have allergic reactions to organ failure.
Carol's Daughter has a hair line called Wash Day, and it smells amazing. It's a combination of aloe, geraniums, lemon, bergamot, lime, and "fragrance". I wish my entire house smelled like it all the time.
That sounds fantastic😉
See you’re going to make me experiment putting it in some water and going around spraying the house with it, pillows, sofa, carpet, drapes….🤣
“Hair” line? Thank you. Going to check it out. I love pretty smells
Tried finding the Wash Day just now Couldn’t. Any further tips, Company name etc? Thank you as it sounds lovely!
In the summer I love the fresh air. But when the house stays closed up i love citrus or vanilla. Very subtle but soothing. I am sensitive to most fragrances and avoid floral or anything strong. Great video!
Don’t forget to regularly and thoroughly clean around the toilet 🚽 especially for those of us who live with boys!
I love that you have a different smell for every season! And you're so welcome, thank you for your support!
Baking soda dish soap water and vinegar are used regularly in my unit.
After moving to the Middle East I’ve learned the art of incense in the home. They have the most beautiful smells 🥰 some are sweet and subtle but the scents stick to the fabrics and they smell wonderful 🤍
Can you recommend some incense you like?
Ooo what's your favorite?
If you’re coming here sure I can recommend stores 😅 but like perfumes, everyone has different tastes. Abdulsamad Al Qurashi is my absolute favorite store for Oud and Arabic perfume blends.
I burn incense 3 times a day. When I go out and come home, my house smells divine.
Citrus is my all time favorite smell for my home.
I like lavender a lot, as long as it isn't overwhelming. I use it alone or in several combinations, but always with lavender, as the base.
I like the smell of peppermint. I use it in my diffuser sometimes and occasionally add lemon oil and it smells good in the home.
I love my place to smell like clean laundry! I am in love with bath and body works sun drenched linen and it's all I use!
Boiling a pot of vinegar after cooking helps to get out those odors. I love aquatic smells in my house.
Oh! I never knew that! I always hate waking up the next morning to my house smelling like last night’s dinner. I just usually wait it out until the small dies down. I’ll have to try this!!
also putting out a small ramakin with vinegar on a window sill will remove cigarette/cigar smoke (i'm a product of the partying 60/70's).
I like Christmas smells…..cinnamon, cloves, apples, pears, orange peel. 🌺
Hey 👋
My house smells like bath and body works leaves. I ALWAYS get compliments
Litter Genie is the bomb
We were recently in Charleston, SC and the smell of Jasmine was everywhere. My new favorite scent
Hello Lori how're you doing and your family hope they're all doing great
Fresh linen or fresh laundry scent is my favorite.
I agree when people walk in the house must smell like nothing ❤️ that’s the ideal smell. I just moved into a home and had to use the ozone generator and air purifier to get rid of the previous owners house odours. Love this video.
And we love you Marcia :)
What's an ozone generator
I love Mrs Meyers Iowa Pine all purpose cleaner. My daughter says that it smells like Christmas. I stock up on it and use it all year long. Fresh clean smells are my favorite.
Nothing like the smell of Christmas
I havent tried iowa pine! Ill have to get some when it comes out. I LOVE the mrs Meyers basil scent! Its so fresh.
Hey Melissa, great tips on the soft surfaces! I hope you and your family have an awesome summer!
Lavender, Clean Linen or Fresh Cotton. Another two are Lemon or Grapefruit and my Ultimate is Vanilla or Vanilla with Sandlewood.
There's nothing worst than entering your home with the scent of the dinner you made 3days ago. Yes a good scent throughout your home is essential. Essential oils are my friend
It's the truth Nadia! Thanks for watching :)
yes I was just thinking about that. Right now mine smells like cooked sausage. LOL
@@jenniferannfox2316 Lol, oh no!
I've had home health nurses who say the oils aren't good for your lungs. Especially if you have several diffusers.
I don’t use essential oils because I have cats. Many oils are not safe for them. So rather than take a chance,I don’t use any of them.
Well said!
@@natalieteer3670 I don’t believe that at all. Especially if you buy the most natural oils. It’s candles that are horrible for your lungs.
I love my house to smell of lavender and vanilla. Those together smell amazing! 🙂🙂
It's great to hear that you found the tips helpful! Good luck getting rid of that burger smell.
I used to use natural unscented clay w a layer of cedariffic on top. Scooped regularly you never knew there were cats in my house.
@@alliemay6076 you can probably use a layer of food grade diatomaceous earth on the bottom only.
My ideal home scent is fresh, clean linen.
Ginger and lemon in the summer is a favorite essential oil combo.
I only line dry bed linens - that’s my favorite scent.
🍋 LEMON! Love using lemon essential oil!
Hi Lana how're you doing and your family hope they're all doing great
I use tidy cat pure and simple clumping cat litter unscented.
I love having the smell of freshness. Either light coconut acent or light peony. Not super pungent but just enough to add some crisp to the air
I live in an old house from the 1800s that we are restoring and I seem to be the only one that notices the smell. We got cinnamon scented broom decoration that made the smelliest part smell so much better. I'm hoping as we restore the house it will start to smell better.
I know what you mean 😏 Very old houses that have un-renovated portions have a "smell" 🙂
The smell of Persil Original....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Check your dishwasher filter. That’s often a culprit!
Wow, that's really cool! I love it as a mouth wash -- had no idea it could be used as a cleaning product, too!
I love the bath and body works candles! They are the best! I like the Christmas scents
I love the scent of fabric softener. So soothing
I love Vanilla fabric softener, it lasts quite a while on the clothes. I also use vanilla air spray
My favorite scent is clean linen.
Thank you.
Yes like Christmas . I agree.
Hi Catherine how're you doing
I like the clean smell of peppermint and thyme in my cleaning solutions. It gives the house a fresh clean scent.
My mum uses a baby-clothes oriented washing liquid for bedsheets towels and her granddaughters clothes. The best scent!
Thanks for sharing this tip! I might have to try that scent for my laundry too.

I just like clean linen scents. Nothing overpowering. Just a clean smell :)
I love the smell of lavender and rosemary.
Yes. And those with a sensitive nose will pick up on those smells. Even pleasant smells can send me looking for my inhaler.
Me also! 🌊
I am exactly the same way. My husband calls me a blood hound
I used to use it. Going to go back and use it for the toilet area

High quality litter… WORLDS BEST LITTER is what I absolutely love, it’s flushable, safe for well and septic systems! I scoop often and clean her litter box. I think that these are keys to a no smell litter box.

Clean linen! I love the smell of freshly washed sheets dried outside in the sunshine! I just don’t like the feel of those line dried sheets 😂
Drying outside is awesome, but to get rid of that line dry feel, just toss in the dryer for like 2 minutes with a fabric sheet. The outside does the hard work and a quick tumble makes you feel better. Just a thought. I agree with line dry, things are bit tough to the touch sometimes.
Try using liquid fabric softener in your wash cycle when you line dry.
Thank y’all for the suggestions, but I don’t line dry 😂! I do like the smell of sun dried laundry, but I live in Texas, and right now we are having 100+* days! And our winters get down in the 20s. I do not even have an outdoor clothesline 🤣😂🤣
I always want my home to smell like I’m baking a yummy dessert! 💕
I loved this one!
I once read that if you are selling your home, put a little cinnamon in boiling water on the stove before people come to see the house.
I think the best way is to be on top of your cleaning and you should be right 🐈
They are harmful to cats too!
And many of them are harmful to humans.

Not all essential oils are safe to diffuse around pets.
They aren't even good for people.
Other than the smell of a sunny day laundry hanging on the line, I choose a light citrus smell, lemon or lime, like you just made a pitcher of juice!
Hi Gail how're you doing
It depends on the time of year. So in spring and autumn I like my house to smell citrusy. in winter I love Australian eucalyptus it's great for clearing sinuses. Summer time like the outside or like strawberries.
This is one channel that offers useful practical advice rather than unnecessary fancy cooking. I sure as heck do not care to spend all my leisure time in a kitchen when there are more important things to do.
Hi
I get this a lot.
Cedar, Fresh brewed coffee, Dried Eucalyptus. Great information!
I want my house to smell like Bed Bath & beyond, every time I walk in the I just love the way it smells. But my favorite essential oil to use is lemongrass.
Does lemongrass smell like fruit loops to you??? Lol weird i know but thats what it reminds me of!
Did you mean Bath and Body Works? Idon’t remember Bed Bath and Beyond smelling like anything. Unless I’m mistaken 😊
I agree! Bed Bath and Beyond smells so good!
I like orange or lemon 🍋 smell
This is great for my airbnb.
Great video, very good information, thanks for your hard work!! You are so pleasant in your videos! ☀️🙂
