Freddie has always wanted to do this cover! The original was sung by The Platters .. a big hit in the 50’s. Freddie is The Great Pretender on stage!! 🤹🏻‍♂️ 🎭

The song was originally recorded by the Platters in the 1950’s, but you’re right that for Freddie, it was in many ways autobiographical. It’s so sad to see Freddie’s pictures and videos during these later years of his life, the increasingly thick makeup, how thin he was becoming. You’re right that this song was in some ways autobiographical as Freddie came to terms with the loss of many friends and ultimately his own impending death. I saw many of my own friends and even a family member die of this plague in those days (the theater community was devastated by it-so many truly gifted and beautiful people were lost). May they all Rest In Peace and grace. Thanks for your sincere compassion and another great reaction.

This is a real interesting video, to say the least. Vocally Freddie gives the best performance I have ever heard of this. The platters Tony Williams did such a good job that I thought it could not be topped. The back stories are that this song was written by Samuel "Buck" Ram born in 1907, when the word "gay" meant something else. His "gay like a clown " didn't mean that all clowns were homosexuals. Buck went on to be a music producer and organized a singing group with the great Tony Williams as the lead singer for the Platters. Buck wrote many other hit songs of the 1950's mostly for the Platters. Freddie was a "closeted" gay person until he came out. The flamboyant nature of the video distracted from the great great performance of the real feelings in Freddie's voice. Freddie died of AIDs before treatments were discovered.

This is something really so beautiful.
Absolutely awesome version of the Platters hit.
Your reaction is a wonderful and great tribute to the master. Thanks a lot.

Billboard- Magazine ranked Mercury second on its 2015 list of rock singers of all time.
According to Mercury, the asteroid 174373Freddiemercury, which was discovered in Mercury's death in 1991, was named in 2016.
There is a statue of Freddie Mercury in Montreux, Switzerland.
Do you ever try a reaction from them?" The Miracle ".

I really appreciate your respect towards Freddie. 👏👏👏
Even he could have written this song, its content is so characteristic of him. Did you realize, that the "girl" in red is Freddie? 🤣The blond one is Roger the Queen's drummer and the black haired "girl" is Peter Straker one of Freddie's friends. The song started at the very end is from Freddie's solo album, called Living On My Own, you have to check out the original video, it's great.

No one, not even this dude, can hold a candle to the original sung by Tony Williams and the Platters. And no one should try TRY cover it.

Freddie's version has a deeper meaning than the original version from the 50's.
