Sometimes you don't need a word from anyone. What you need is this kind of music.

I was at this show. It was in 1980 at the Opry House, & it was called "A Tribute to Chet Atkins". It was a gig thrown by his friends, & the tickets cost $50.00 each, a fortune back then. I was the biggest Chet fan ever, & a lady where i worked gave me 2 tickets 4 free. I thought I'd died & gone 2 heaven that night. almost everybody was there but Jerry, & he sent a video (or audio, I don't recall) of himself that they played for Chet to hear.

I've been to a lot of shows and one of the finest was seeing Chet Atkins solo in a little tiny venue called the Warner in Fresno California .
He sat on a stool with a guitar and played for almost 2 hours straight , talking to the crowd smiling and laughing and just having a good time.
    What a sweet memory.

OMG. First time I heard them I was 17 with my guitar teacher sitting on the end of his chair...riveted! I'll always love this type of music he introduced me too! It's just the pure subtlety, it's so underrated yet every great duo or group or even just an individual knows when to play and when not, maybe even more important on this type of setting!

At exactly 3:00 Chet misses one and drops his left hand, shakes his head just a little and keeps right on playing. What a great talent he was. And what a treat to hear he and Klugh together. I'm going on vacation today. Someone please call me when rap is over or if music ever comes back to being this good.

Earl Klugh has got to be one of the most lyrical players I've ever heard ... his style transcends boundaries ... but hearing him in this duet with Chet kind of brings it home for me. Now of course Chet is no longer with us, but Earl carries on quite well. This was a vintage performance.

And to think Earl klugh used to be a kid who would fake sick and stay home from school if he knew Chet Atkins was going to be on a daytime talk show, and here he was on TV playing with Chet Atkins. Luckily it was in Primetime this aired I believe, plus Earl was no longer in school so he didn't have to fake sick to see it 🤣

Hey dad, I remember in the middle seventies when you told me about 2 guys. Chett Atkins and another young man that was so fantastic Earl Klug. Hey dad you've been gone a while now but it just confirms this warm Spring evening... that you had one of the greatest tastes in music I ever heard and it brought me to the side of the road because you're not supposed to cry and try to drive too. I miss you tonight dad.. I remember when I 1st realized that you were not Superman, you were just a really good man and you were so far ahead of your time when he came to music . I thank you for that. I'll see you soon dad ,give mom a kiss.I love you and I still love hearing good time Charlie's got the blues acoustically.with 2 of the greatest.Chett Adkins and Earl Klugh. In a word, wow!!!💖

At 2:59 Chet misses the last note of his run. A right hand finger misses it. Its vibrato watch his finger but theres no sound). He drops his hand and shakes his head but the pro that he is he just goes on. At 3:11 they look at each other and seem to laugh about it. All Class. God- Let us have Chet back and we will give you Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga.

The original recording of Chet and Earl doing this song was on Earl Klughs' fourth studio album released in 1978 entitled "Magic In Your Eyes". Chet is featured on this song and in the liner notes Earl tells of Chet being one of his main influences. This was one of the first albums I ever bought when I was 17 years old and is still one of my all-time favorite albums, period.

I totally agree, the horn arrangement is goofy and totally unnecessary. The price of dealing with producers and contract arrangers who are looking to make a splash on TV. Let a great song and great musicians tell their own story. Dang...
