A little late today getting to the video, but I'm so excited to see the next episode! This one looks awesome AF!!! The ground is still frozen solid and covered with ice and snow here in MN! I'll have to keep this one referenced for May.
@Corporals Corner For the fire cover, I didn't see if you tied down the horizontal sticks going across & sometimes you have, other times if you had it may not end up on camera, maybe because of repetitiveness? I still wonder sometimes if notching out both ends of the sticks that're going to set on top of the other sections makes life easier so you may not end up with as many or any "rolling sticks"? Something tells me if done, the horizontals might have to be thicker in diameter so as to keep some kind of structural integrity? Not sure if I'm right though?
I love these fast forwarded parts on the rope tying, it shows what needs to be done in a quick and efficient manner with a shirt explanation afterwards
Love it when you & others combine the basic military issue gear skills with other bushcrafting to remind and demonstrate camping cooking & survival doesn't require breaking the bank. Thank you once again for what you do.
Gotta thank you for all the inspiration over the years, tarp overnighters in the swedish winterwoods, steaks cooked over an open fire, cowboycoffee in the morning and so much more 🏕🤠🔥🥩
A T-Bone over an open fire with Lawry's seasoned salt...my favorite. Starting a fire with duct tape is a great idea in wet conditions. Keeping your fire dry is smart as well.
I'm an old lady who loves your channel. I find you very interesting. Skills that I can share with my grandchildren. We have a fire pit in the backyard. I like your starting fire Skills 🔥 👌 Thanks for sharing Cheers
As a 74 year old veteran, I have spent most of my free time in the mountains and woods. I have built many crude shelters and learned more from your videos. But I had no idea about using duct tape for a fire starter. That is a great idea. I never miss any of your videos. Thanks Bob
Hahaha I did the duct tape trick because of you! All our wood was wet and I instantly made like 3 rolls and lit it on fire and started drying our wood and it worked! Thanks man you saved us out there!
Great video Shawn. Like you say, ‘ If it ain’t raining, you ain’t training.’ Wet weather is a common thing in the South/Florida, so rain and wet conditions are a real issue a lot. Great covered fire pit, gotta keep the fire dry, or nothing else dries out. God Bless and Semper Fi.
What I would like to see, is a video where you start with only a full-tang knife, fire steel (ferro rod), and the clothes on your back to create a shelter & fire. Bonus if the land/wood is wet.
Had to miss this Sunday watching. Had to work. To repeat, so happy the videos will continue. That "Corporal Mc Muffing" looked good! As always very informative video. Can't wait for next weeks video. Have a stress-free week if you can.
Still the "Boss" of bank line, I've often wondered how many rolls you've gone through. Nice camp, dry, warm and well fed, it can be done as witnessed. Covered fire was a smooth move as was the duct tape fire starter. Great video, well done as always, thanks. See ya next time.
Great example of sheltering the fire. I am going to try this on my next rainy Scout outing (wait, that is all of my Scout outings). I am guessing that keeping the fire low is the key to avoiding setting the logs above on fire ... looking forward to finding out. Thanks for this one, classic overnighter in the woods ... now let's get out there and have some fun!
Dave, if ya can't COMFORTABLY stradle the fire without inconveniencing certain self-bits you got a TAD too much fire, if all you are doing is cooking or heating water for coffee, etc. And yeah, I know, as a Natures Classroom instructor i made the same jokes too about only 2 kinds of fire, 1) NOT big enough and 2) NO WHERE NEAR BIG ENOUGH!! Which is NOT what I teach!! CR
Love this video. Simple but very effective in creating a comfortable, efficient shelter. Unfortunately, I'm no longer physically able to spend the time in the woods, but I can vicariously experience it through these videos. Thanks for sharing.
Corporal Kelly, Thank you for the great video as always! Just FYI, This video and all of your videos come up when you release them to my feed! Then I bring up others in my Play this next area, and let them play out as well. Never had an issue and trying to boost your watch time! Thank you for your service, and making this older Medic a better Backpacker and camper!!!!
Enjoyed this one. Must confess to having to watch it again today as after two days on the range with cadets I fell asleep late on Sunday evening, well 2100Hrs L!
First off I have to say Ooo Rah! Second, every Marine has to have a K-Bar. Good video and some useful survival skills covered. I just found your channel and will be going through your videos as time permits.
I don't usually leave comments on channels of your size, simply because the odds of you reading it is slim. But in case you do read this. Keep up the great work👍 I enjoy every video✌
Now we're talking! Great vid. Like the ten piece kit. Will be working with that shelter set up soon. Like the efficiency of the set up. Thanks for your time on the schooling, sir!
For my money, this is the best video you've put out in 2023. You checked off all of the skill boxes you've previously taught us, showing how to apply them to today's (wet) conditions. I particularly appreciate how you created a cover for your fire, which you started with tape. I've asked before, how do you orient the tarp to the prevailing wind? I assume the back goes toward the prevailing wind.
It's so nice to watch your videos each week and always learn something new your videos are always so educational we can always learn from your videos your the best love showing your videos to my kids keep up the awesome videos love ya Corporal your the man
Now this is the kind of corporal videos I love. A bit of woodsmanship and a steak that looks good AF. What's not to like. Always learn from the corporal. Love it.
You have a way of making wet and uncomfortable camping look like a resort vacation. Heck, the dang T-Bone was worth it all, that looked like the perfect dinner; meat over fire is all one needs. You keep making videos and I'll keep watching them. Thanks a bunch.
All right! This is the kind of video that made your channel. Demonstrating building shelters and bedding with minimal gear carried in. Newcomers to the channel have missed these and probably don't know to find these in your history. Would love to see more like this every 2-3 weeks. Looking forward to the video on building a ready kit.
As always great stuff Corporal, didn’t get to watch this episode till today,Monday as I was out in the field. Always looking forward to watching your content.👍👍
One thing I learned from setting up inflatables is that you want your stakes to be driven into the ground straight up and down. If the wind hits your shelter it's less likely to wiggle itself out. Thank you for your great videos!
I don't think it is said enough... Thank you for all your hard work and the content you put up. I learn plenty from each video that I want to put to use.
I especially like the applications you teach with tarps and bankline. So many uses. Every kid in this country needs to be having hands on doing these even if all you can get to is your back yard. We had adventure bases all over when I was a kid. Even on a family vacation in the woods/wildnerness kids should have a back pack (their own) with these few supplies and have the knowledge how to use it. Great work, Corporal Kelly.

@anita baaath I watched the whole thing and didn't hear a complaint. Just facts.
Another Sunday in the company of the Corporal & my fellow viewers. A great Sunday AF. Good day ya'll. 🙏🏼✌
Well Said. Cheers 🤜🤘
Have a great Sunday too brother!
Homemade beef stew for lunch and a cup of coffee watching corporals corner couldn't think of a better Sunday unless I was out in the woods!
Cheers mate!
Oh yeah

I have never seen a more satisfied primal bite of a steak than in the teaser clip at the start. 💪 That is the kind of bite that says "I earned this!"
I saw that steak & was ready to fire up the grill.
"If it aint raining, then we ain't training".....an unofficial motto of a Marine Corps Grunt!!! Semper Fi, Corporal!!
Gotta thank you for all the inspiration over the years, tarp overnighters in the swedish winterwoods, steaks cooked over an open fire, cowboycoffee in the morning and so much more 🏕🤠🔥🥩
I'm sticking with you no matter what corporal!!!

An old dog can always learn new tricks ....
You sure got that right!
It's Monday I'm here, Semper Fi. A week without CC is a week without 🌞
Hahaha I did the duct tape trick because of you! All our wood was wet and I instantly made like 3 rolls and lit it on fire and started drying our wood and it worked! Thanks man you saved us out there!
Anything you put together is always a pleasure to watch. Thank you😍
Very useful video, Shawn, to go to from soaking wet to dry overnight. So with this video showing, rain in the forest should not be an obstacle.
I always learn something…My time is never wasted👍
I enjoy your ability to think 2 to 3 steps ahead of most situations.
Thanks for all of your time and effort !!!
really its about 9-10 steps but that cant be conveyed on film
One of the best videos I've watched recently, good work Sir!
🔥
It's always impressive how sharp your axes are.
I will continue to watch as long as you make these videos. Another job well done!

@@cnrienzo Perfect reply, great advice. In Scouts, we have two kinds of fire ... smoke-only/no-fire, and too big ... a work in progress for sure.
Always fun to go camping with you each week! ❤
Great video Shawn. I love the back to basics ones!!
Great video Corp 👍👍👍. Stand YOUR GROUND. AND do What YOU DO BEST 👌.

Fire toasted bread- my favorite.

This was a perfect break in between English assignments.

This Sunday, my power is out. I'm just chilling with the corporal. Basically camping in my house.

Excellent activity! “Demonstrate your ability to dry all your gear in the wild.”
This is a drill everyone should do.
The soaking wet theme was 👌
Now this is the kind of corporal videos I love. A bit of woodsmanship and a steak that looks good AF. What's not to like. Always learn from the corporal. Love it.
An outstanding video Sir with great demonstration, more like this please summer is coming and I will be out there too, thanks

Love the LBE/TA-50 gear. Very similar to what I used to carry.
More outstanding AF content! Keep it coming. We appreciate all your hard work!
Corpral Kelly is 🔥
Outstanding video
AF
Much better/useful/more realistic than other videos where people build ridiculous structures with hand drills and call it an emergency shelter.
Thanks Shawn - I’m too old and weak to do what I used to do but watching you every week gives me a sense of still being out there.
ya still have the savvy.....don't forget... !!
nice to see it greening up, you always show something i can learn :D ty
Another great solo overnight. Excellent build and good eats 👍 thanks Corporal. 💪 AF

Great video Shawn. That egg banjo looks epic mate. 👏🏼👏🏼
It did look great, plus that steak he was eating?! YUM!

Back to basics and bare minimum. and yes I heard the crunch😋👍💪
