- Phil Tippett making a model Pterodactyl, throwing rocks and drinking beer on the set of Timegate in the mid-70s. Joined by Ken Ralston and Jules Roman. Jim Danforth was writing, designing effects, directing, and co-producing this film when Star Wars came along, which caused this project to be shelved.

Of the stop-motion effects features announced during the mid-to-late 1970s both "Timegate" and "The Primevals" were perhaps the two most anticipated, and that they were not realized was a loss to both fantastic cinema and stop-motion animation. What a double-feature they would have made!
One of the greatest films never made! I'd love to have seen this and "The Legend of King Kong" project, would have been far better than the 1976 remake for sure! Jim is one of the most talented effects guys out there.
Thanks for sharing this. I wish it had been completed! Great fun.
Thank You!
We want the crowdsourced Timegate!
thank you so much for sharing shots like this...It really helps to inspire new film makers like myself..
Jim Danforth is responsible for a whole buch of the greatest movies never made. Just shows how unfair the Hollywood system was. Or is. I don't think it's gone better, taken all the crap that's made into account.
You know where I suspect Jim may have gone wrong? By being conscientious and planning so much of this stuff ahead of time. I think if he'd been a bit more reckless and rushed into production and spent a ton of their money, the producers would've been more committed to their investment. As it was I think they came to realise how long a production of this nature was going to take and backed out because things seemed to be moving too slowly.
This is amazing...thank you!
Can someone help my answer this question: what was the name of this movie, I don't think they ever mentioned it...
Superb! is this available on DVD anywhere?...Always wanted to see something from this lost project.
