The animation for this film was done by Jim Danforth, David Allen and Dennis Muren, the latter also being the producer, co-writer and co-director on the film. It was made on a very low budget of only $8,000.
This movie scared me when I was kid. LoL
the only movie that actually does a close up shot of the stop motion human puppet face
The old man’s face is creepy
Such a classic
We really need more stop motion movies today. And we really need the return of 2D animation also.
Gorgeous, Beautiful.
The shots of the billowing storm clouds for the flashback in the student version were taken from a forest fire that was raging in California when the shots were filmed.
That ape like monster reminds me of the Gorog from Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2.
His name is Taurus
Incidentally, the green giant's name is Gingeron if you're interested
This is the best film ever made by teenagers!
It's pretty crude, but people were trying out new ideas. For example, in traditional "dynamation" the puppet is in front of or to the side of the actors. Here, we get the actor crossing in front of the puppet, which was extremely difficult to do.
Thank you for sharing this vdo, though stop-motion aficionado, I didn't know this movie. Not so bad in spite we are not with the Ray Harryhausen quality standard level!
Peculiarly in the carving of the puppets. Interesting anyway!
2:26 Ahh!!! A stick! My one weakness!
The gorilla bull dog looking thing called the Taurus is said to be 18 feet tall in the movie said by KAIJUMATIC almost the height of Kong 1933 but the old man in the gorilla hands is about 5’ 4” the Taurus is definitely not 18 feet tall he is about 12 - 13 feet tall. Or 7 - 9 feet tall
Creative
WOW very lovecraftian!!
A kraken came out of nowhere and attacked the house on-site in the middle of the forest
The Ape Yeti is like 30 feet long this creature killed a man right in the forests and starts attacking the others
Does anyone recognize Herb Tarlek from WKRP in Cincinnati in this flick?
The older cut of the movie, before it was butchered and became “Equinox,” was much better. Peace.
