  • This is the life of the last Kyrgyz nomads of the Afghan Pamir, a people imprisoned between three borders. They have experienced famine, exile, war and persecution. The only place where they have found security and peace is the hidden depths of Central Asia.
Despite the hardships and extremely inhospitable terrain, these people have managed to survive and maintain their traditional way of life against all odds.

It is difficult to feel sympathy for a man who chooses his opium high over the well being of wife and children/I can see no future for a man incapable of empathy for his only support system (his family),To compound the issue he smokes paracetamol. This will destroy his lungs and in fact will do a little if he takes it as directed. I was in the Pamir (USSR/Tadzhikistan) in 1989. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever traveled. I loved seeing the results of so many human migrations through the land - Persians, Mongols, Greeks, Scythians... and basically anyone who fought with or against Alexander the Great. Amazing to see olive-skinned kids with jet black hair and blue eyes! Wonderful people, beautiful land.

Cause they are a mix of europeans=Aryans with the invading mongolturks=Kyrgyz. Before the turkic/mongol invasion of central asia in the middle ages this region was inhabitated mainly by europeans who were indigenous in the region. Europe in antiquity was not the miniscule region that now is. Invasion mainly from mongolturks and arabs made us small. European lands were as far as the hindu kush till the china border.

1 in 3 die in childbirth, and half of kids die and the abuses of selling daughters to the highest bidder are pretty apparent….and that is just the tip of the iceberg as far as hardships and lack of basic human rights. They work with what they have, very well, despite all hardships they face daily. I really love and enjoy learning about humans, all around our planet. It's one of life's most enjoyable pass times. May God bless these people and may they be able to maintain their history, their culture & their unique way of life. Thank you, for sharing. My best wishes to all. Peace

I have a message for them from Europe: you think living there in the mountains without enough supplies, tools, arrangements,...is difficult But believe me that you have the best lives. Living in the city in a modern way with all comforts, machines and services is really not interesting, not joyful and not valuable. Natural life is the best life! I wish I was that lucky to live like you in the mountains moving with the weather. I wish you all happiness. God bless you ❤
