this is one of the best looking and driving old trucks from the 1990s I've ever seen, not one bit of rust around the rockers or wheels wells or the tail gate for that matter, she must have been garage kept and properly maintained for most of her life, makes me want one, good find indeed!!!!! P.S. The keys stuck above the window are hilarious!!!!!
The GMT400 is one of GM's best platforms. The 5.7L V8 was a strong proven motor and had great power for what it was. If you took care of it, the motor would run forever and the truck itself (body/interior) would hold up nicely. A few things I saw: The hazard switch is broken. The light under the hood is on I got my 98 with 186K in 2011 for about 3000. That should sell for about the same, maybe a little more since it is a one ton. Nice catch on that truck!
A friend had a 96 Chevy 3/4 ton with a 4x4. With about the same milage. He could only get less than a thousand dollars for it. Good luck Randy. I am rooting for you to make money on this one. Wishing y’all the best on this flip
I have to say Randy. The comment about a Chevy truck “this old” running so well was a surprise to me. I owned an 89, 2 94’s and a 95’ Tahoe. And they all ran like tops. Just kept trading up until I had an SUV and a 4x4. They run for 375k+ miles if taken care of. I’ve seen multiple that high. My dad STILL has his 96’ gmc extra cab long bed and it’s almost to 300k. The old Chevy engines are very reliable. I also had to say that at 12:17 you took that red light like a champ! 😂 Oklahoma and Florida drivers are similar
Yeah Randy, you got a good deal. There's a lot of ppl out there looking for this era truck. I would paint the entire truck because body is straight. You will make money on this one.
I had a 96 2500 Silverado, bought new, that i put 300k on it with original motor and trans. Replaced brakes, fuel pump, hi low dimmer switch, windshield wiper motor and A/C compressor and that's about it. Pulled a trailer with it for years too. Drove for about 18 yrs. Great truck.
YES RANDY! lets hope it runs! You should get a car for nick and have nick work on the car with you as he buys the parts through saving up. it'll be good youtube content and it'll teach him about the importance of money!
Randy, if you regularly drive cars that might have failed batteries you could always make up a lead so you can plug your jump pack into the cigar lighter socket. Won't start the car but will give you 10 amps - enough to keep fuel injection etc. running.
I love it! Can't beat an old Chevy truck. With 177k miles it's barely broke in. My 2002 Silverado has 324k miles. Purrs like a kitten, smooth and strong. Rides like a limousine. Everything still works. I'd drive it across country without hesitation. You'll be able to get $3500 for it easy, Maybe more.
Heavy duty upgraded bumper, mint interior, and spray in bed liner. The down side is the spider wire fuel lines if you have to replace an intake manifold gasket.
In my market, Houston, it would sell for $3500 as is. The straight body( the paint isn’t an issue for a truck that age) and ESPECIALLY cold ac and great interior would have it gone in less than 24 hours. Major score!
I'd change the rims, do a paint job and replace the radio and send it on it's way. I've never been a fan of that style of GM rims. A good set of rims and paint job would completely transform the look of that truck.
Randy, this truck is a sweetheart!🥰 Chevrolet doesn't make trucks this reliable anymore, sad to say... Cleaned up & with a fresh paint job? It would sell for $3,500 *ALL DAY LONG.*
Great deal Randy! She’s a great old Chevy! I would just paint the drivers side! And maybe the next owner can put 4wd in it!! Also happy to see your channel booming again! One more thing if you don’t mind and it’s no big deal if you can’t but if you ever see a 03 or 04 cobra on the walk around could you show it? Thanks a bunch!
Old cars are where it's at. With 177,000 miles that truck's just getting broken in brother. I've got almost 250K on my 2000 3500 Chevy, and still punish it every day. You keep up with the basic maintenance and they will run forever. Love my truck
Heck ya randy great video man and ya that truck is gonna be great by the time u get done with it u got a great deal man look forward seeing the next one
A car that he has owned for half an hour that he picked up from a salvage auction, it's much safer to blaze through rather than risk spinning and hitting pedestrians cuz you don't have 4 wheel ABS. But lets be honest he was skatin on thin ice there
I had the same truck, 1997 was a great truck. Here in texas you would get around 3k for it, but some people may pay more. its worth what someone is willing to give you.
Randy, rule of thumb a slight hill causes fuel to slide rearwards ergo the truck trying to die, battery going bad,as long as you leave it running the alternator will recharge the battery with a trickle charge... dont be afraid to "Take it to the Limit, one more time" to qoute the Eagles... LOL.. in 1997 they had driver and passenger airbags, 1995 and 96 the dash is indentical, the 3rd door was a option @ $750....
👍Those are awesome trucks; good buy _so far_ Randy!👍. $67 to fill the tank... must have the optional 34 gallon tank that my ‘96 “Conversion” Suburban had... & that’s back when gas prices ⛽️ were over $3/gallon in the mid-2000’s😢. I just HAD to sell it after awhile... fuel economy of _under_ 10mpg was killin’ me!
When I was a kid those American trucks and sedans with the front doubling the headlights were fascinating, Very US style, Europeans never did such thing. Greetings from Europe.
@@mauriciopalomino1105 becouse he wanted a certain type of gas nots whats in the can and from a certain gas station. @bill Topka Shut y'all mouths up haters
Looks like a nice buy. Having cold A/C is a big, big perk. Be sure to check the brake and fuel lines along the chassis for rust but otherwise, yeah NICE!
My dad has a 1996 GMC Sierra 1500 with the Vortec 5.7L V8 4 speed automatic with 111K miles on itbband it has been reliable and is in great condition with the exceptions of a rip on the drivers seat and some small dents and scratches and the hood has some clear coat peel. He only uses it to haul stuff and when hes does not he parks it in the garage. He bought it brand new!
Love the pick-up. Good job. Seems like you passed 4 gas stations before you stopped for gas. If the rest of the paint is ok, I would just paint the one side.
Looks like a nice truck! Good find Randy. 1996 was the 1st year of the VORTEC series of gas engines and that means port fuel injection, Ohhhhhh yeahhhhh!
That is definitely a score. Cleaned up & painted, that truck would definitely bring $3500-4000 here. I would drive that thing & ideally add a camper to pull.
Good looking truck! I love the GMT400s, I would just have them correct the one side and save yourself some money, the rest of the paint looks alright. Also got a nice key collection hanging out inside the car above the drivers door by the headliner 🤣
I think ya did great randy!!! I think if you put a little bit of that Randy Sauce on it you’d clear at least 4K!!! Those old Square body’s in good working Condition always sale and sale good!! I’d love to have one myself!
This truck was coughing, sputtering, the gas gauge was on empty, and you stated that you didn't know if you would make it home, yet you passed at least three gas stations before you finally stopped to fill the tank. I just don't understand your logic, Randy!
Nice buy randy that truck is 4grand all day long just paint the side and put a new batt. In it ask 4250 and look to take nothing less than 4grand i wish i could hit the thumbs up ten times on this one what a score congratulations buddy.
Good price randy! If you lived in Southern California I would have bought it from you in a heartbeat. Those are awesome trucks. They definitely don't make them like that anymore..
Lol you literally passed 2-3 gas stations while you were saying you was going to stop at a gas station 😂😂 but great pickup definitely see profit in that truck with some paint
You Should get yourself a brush guard for that Ram when vehicle die you can push them with the Ram and you pass like three gas station and you got a lot of keys up there on the roof liner
Just Maaco paint the Driver side, new battery, service the engine, Walmart cheap Bluetooth radio, 'Weird beard' level interior clean and exterior polish. Good solid Truck.
Looks Garage Kept until a youngster got ahold of it. Painted the wheels black snd some hater scratched somthing on the driver's side. And I noticed that GM floor mat on the back of the bed. AWESOME VIDEO RANDY! NICE SCORE!
Great find Randy....I would have picked that one up too for the price......Clean it up repaint just the driver side.....it should bring around $3,500.....I picked up a 95 GMC 3500 crew cab long bed gas with 355,000 miles from an individual for $500.....did not run but engine did turn over......I’ve replaced the rusted passenger fender took off the grill guard and put different wheels and did a lot of work under the hood because it was really neglected.....like REALLY neglected.....front suspension needs to be rebuilt too......I recently traded my 95 Powerstroke for a 98 GMC K1500 z71.....no money....just even trade......it runs and drives and is in better shape but needs a motor after the previous owner blew the passenger side head gasket in it.......then I’m getting a 2500 around the same year that runs and drives for nothing but has a crushed cab.....so that’s gonna be my parts truck for the other two......so guess what that means? More content for my channel.......I have videos of my current trucks on my channel......as well as more pics of the work on the 3500 on my Instagram page fearlessfly100......good luck with everything.......can’t wait to see the 96 all painted up looking nice......😀
Gidday, it does not look like the thieves sanded the original paint. Try some paint thinners and a rag. It might come straight off. Best of luck and it looks like a great ute.
Keeps saying he's gonna stop and put gas and passes a few along the way lol
For realsss
I was thinking the same thing, but maybe he wanted premium non ethanol which sinclair does have.
@@aleksandrnathanevans good point
Bruh i was saying the same thing lol.
What about the gas he had?

I said the same thing on the last video absolutely hilarious got to find a gas station.... "Randy, Randy, nevermind LOL"
What do you expect when the guy only owns one brain cell

That would be me too. I pass exits when im on the phone.

Man that truck sounds healthy!! You scored big with that one. A diamond in the rough.
Those old GM trucks are bulletproof we have 96 Chevy 3500 with a 454. We've owed it since 1999 n it's still on the road n doin great!

Those keys in the headliner had me so confused
Me to lol couldn’t stop looking at them lol
Same
Jeez, like how many houses or trailers did the previous owner have?
I was wondering the same thing
those keys are helping the headliner, no joke I have seen that trick too.
Get some paint thinner and wipe it off, then run over it with the polisher 🤙🏻
Truck will be worth more with the original paint fixed up than with a Maaco job - depends if current problem is over-paint or scuffed off.
Could do a 2 tone by changing color in middle. Silver or light blue would look nice
Repaint the whole thing the same color
