Hi yall! I wanted to document my first 2 weeks of my living kidney donation experience. Yes, it's been a rollercoaster my first 2 weeks after donating my kidney on 1/26/22 but I'm so thankful God chose me for this mission in order to give my brother a second chance at life and get off dialysis. We are both doing so much better and each day keeps getting better & better. I'm starting to feel like myself again and still in awe of what our bodies are able to do. I hope to inspire anyone who is thinking about donating life. YOU could save someones life by sharing your spare. This video may seem like I'm complaining about how tough my first 2 weeks are but I want to be authentic and share my real, raw experience so far. Today has been an amazing day and I continue to feel stronger as each day passes. Take care & God bless yall💚🙏🏽

I donated a kidney inMarch of 22. Vanderbilt in Nashville TN has a world class program. I was in the hospital for a few days and yes, the gas they use in surgery is very painful. Bless you, it is a great thing you have done. I am so glad I helped another.

Thank you for this video 😊. I donated my kidney 10 days ago and most of the post op videos I’ve seen have been about people who have had positive experiences, with very minimal side effects so I appreciated this video.
The gas pain was HORRENDOUS. My first night in the hospital I cried out in pain, and I’m someone who can handle a lot of pain. It took almost a week for that gas to dissipate. It made it hard to breathe and talk. I still feel bloated from it unfortunately.
As for the constipation, I hear ya. It was really uncomfortable and painful. I started taking miralax and that has helped me.
10 days and I’ve just been feeling off. I can’t sleep either! How long did it take you to get back to almost normal?
    You are a rockstar 🌟❤

Yes, its important to me to be as real and raw about my experience as I could. My gas pains took close to a week to calm down too. My first poop was on the 8th day post op and that was heaven like. Overall for me to feel somewhat normal took a couple weeks but its very different for everyone and their bodies to adjust to their new normal. I've seen some donors say they were walking in the hospital the first day post op and back at work 2 weeks later...and I couldn't even stand up on my own and walk a few feet the first day. I couldn't sleep in my bed for almost a week because I had to sleep upright or those gas pains would come rolling in extremely hard. The body does extraordinary things and I hope you start feeling like yourself soon. Give yourself time to heal and try not to rush it. When its new and you're in the thick of it...It can feel like you're never going to feel good again but it will happen over time, just take it easy. Rest when you can, walking when you are up to it, and drinking your water are essential to healing. You are amazing for doing this! Hope this helps🙏🏽💚

@@patrickstapleton3377 hey! Doing really well, thank you! I felt off for a few months after the surgery, probably for 3 months. I was in pain for a month and then just overly exhausted after that. BUT right now I’d say I’m almost back to how I was before the surgery.
All in all, no regrets ☺️

I've got a bunch of tests coming up on Thursday to see if I'm a suitable donor, including the kidney scan.
