Walking Tour to Secret Harbor & Chimney Beach in Lake Tahoe May 2021 (Day 3)

Come along a short walking tour to get to Secret Harbor and Chimney Beach on the east side of Lake Tahoe. In my opinion it's the clearest and most beautiful area of Lake Tahoe. The incline walk back up to the parking lot was killer on my calves. Thanks for watching!!

May 2021 was our first time visiting Lake Tahoe and it was amazing! We can't wait to go back again. Day 1 & 2 were filled with lots of hiking at Emerald Bay State Park, Eagle Falls and Vikingsholm.

Hi just saw these videos. Quick question not sure if you have kids but wanted to see if you had any information about being a donor and wanted to have kids later in the future ?
Hi, no I don't have kids. From what I've seen from other donors I think they are just monitored more closely if they do get pregnant in the future. I'm almost 40 now so I think my time has passed. Hope this helps. If you're on facebook there is a living kidney donor support page with lots of donors who have had kids post donation. Hope this helps 😊

@@JessicaSusan-ue5pt yes, Living Kidney Donors Support Group on facebook. It's a private group but once you request to be added the admin will review your submission to the group. I know many people have asked this question in that group too so once you are approved into the FB group you can do a search of prior posts related to post donation pregnancy.

May the lord bless you for this very Knoble gesture . I was planned to have a kidney transplant in July 2023.Unfortunately that did not happen so I’m doing dialysis now . Proud of you 👌

Thank you for this video 😊. I donated my kidney 10 days ago and most of the post op videos I’ve seen have been about people who have had positive experiences, with very minimal side effects so I appreciated this video. The gas pain was HORRENDOUS. My first night in the hospital I cried out in pain, and I’m someone who can handle a lot of pain. It took almost a week for that gas to dissipate. It made it hard to breathe and talk. I still feel bloated from it unfortunately. As for the constipation, I hear ya. It was really uncomfortable and painful. I started taking miralax and that has helped me. 10 days and I’ve just been feeling off. I can’t sleep either! How long did it take you to get back to almost normal? You are a rockstar 🌟❤
Yes, its important to me to be as real and raw about my experience as I could. My gas pains took close to a week to calm down too. My first poop was on the 8th day post op and that was heaven like. Overall for me to feel somewhat normal took a couple weeks but its very different for everyone and their bodies to adjust to their new normal. I've seen some donors say they were walking in the hospital the first day post op and back at work 2 weeks later...and I couldn't even stand up on my own and walk a few feet the first day. I couldn't sleep in my bed for almost a week because I had to sleep upright or those gas pains would come rolling in extremely hard. The body does extraordinary things and I hope you start feeling like yourself soon. Give yourself time to heal and try not to rush it. When its new and you're in the thick of it...It can feel like you're never going to feel good again but it will happen over time, just take it easy. Rest when you can, walking when you are up to it, and drinking your water are essential to healing. You are amazing for doing this! Hope this helps🙏🏽💚

@@patrickstapleton3377 hey! Doing really well, thank you! I felt off for a few months after the surgery, probably for 3 months. I was in pain for a month and then just overly exhausted after that. BUT right now I’d say I’m almost back to how I was before the surgery. All in all, no regrets ☺️

I donated a kidney inMarch of 22. Vanderbilt in Nashville TN has a world class program. I was in the hospital for a few days and yes, the gas they use in surgery is very painful. Bless you, it is a great thing you have done. I am so glad I helped another.

I'm sorry but started laughing so hard! Sucks you were in so much pain though. I am donating in paired exchange 😊 My surgeon says the most pain people get post operation is from constipation
do you think a BOB stroller can make it on the trail to Chimney Beach or is it too steep?

Can you do another update? I am getting ready to donate my kidney to a friend and I am wondering what to expect after surgery and periodically several years out.
@@esgee2464 I'll include this in an updated vid but I'll answer here too. Fatigue- I noticed it more during the first 6 months post op. Weight changes: I went into surgery at 165 then lost 10 lbs in those couple months after without even trying. I attribute that to not having much of an appetite while recovering. My appetite has def come back and I stay between 167-170 now. I stick to 4 oz animal protein per meal and drink about 80-90 oz water per day. I dont drink so they didnt mention alcohol to me. I take emergencees for vit C and a daily allergy pill. I stay away from other pills minus tylenol for pain. Testing: my center did post op testing 2 weeks post op, 6 months, 1 yr and 2 yrs then they release me. Just 1 vial of blood and 1 urine sample at a labcorp.
