    Hi!
I am just turned 29 and I found out 4 weeks ago I have stage 5 kidney failure due to IgAN. I recognize a lot of feelings you have. Specially the feelings about feeling that I am indestructible, feeling like my body can handle anything. Now I see that life is so fragile. I currently have 12% of my kidney function but I am determined to life my normal life. I am still working 100% waiting for my kidney to fail and it is super scary. Right now the worst parts is the tiredness and even worse for me is that I am freezing, my body is shivering all day.
I am so grateful that I have family that wanna help me and that my wife is really supportive. I am grateful to live in Sweden where I have free health care and the donation list is short (if no one of my family can donate). I am grateful that I am young and healthy and educated. Hearing your story is helpful! Thank you!

Stay strong Bea! I too was diagnosed with CKD stage 5 and on dialysis for the last 2 years. I am almost about your age. I’m a physician who had a lot of aspirations in life and loves to travel but everything has to be put on hold because of my condition. During my battle I had about 100 plus blood transfusion and frequent hospitalisation since I bleed frequently and recurrent infection. From someone who used to have a very active lifestyle and his future seemingly bright, everything came crashing when my kidney failed. Now I have to do dialysis 2-3 times a week, Im always tired, and due to the recent pandemic, I am more prone to infection and it really affects my mental health knowing I am immunocompromised. I don’t get sleep (I’m lucky if I get 2-3 hours a day) as side effect of Ckd, my bones are getting really brittle and I had to take tons of medications, some of which are so large and unpleasant for my taste that I vomit often times. I am in constant pain and I still haven’t adjusted from my previous life. All I’m saying is you’re not alone and you’re being heard. There is always hope for us and I choose to be positive. Let’s also be thankful for our loved ones who never abandoned us in our darkest times. You know some friends come and go but the real ones (genuine friends and family) will be there and help you plow through these trying times. I feel your pain, your frustration and your sadness. But most importantly, I feel your HOPE! Hope that one day, we’ll get that transplant and make everything fine again. You do not know me but I’m sending you hugs! You are very brave to talk about this! Thank you for sharing this, Bea!

My wife had the same problem with IgA Nephropathy. I commend how brave you are. The dialysis alone is disconcerting. Hang in there and once you get your new kidney, things will change magically.

If there is really something that I admire about this queen, it is her strength. Above all the success, beauty, and fame, what she went through and how she faced it gave me a different view on how to deal with such issues that I was also going through myself with a couple of family members (cancer and aneurysm). She displayed vulnerability yet she was very courageous, her fighting spirit and positivity was inspiring and her hope was contagious. I love how she spread awareness on social media and displayed a will of never giving up despite the circumstances. I have been following her journey since day one and I am so happy to have finally given a chance to meet her in person just recently at an event. She is very humble and does surely lights up every room she walks in. Thank you Bea for sharing with us your journey, I wish you well! :)

Same case with my mom and my best friend, it was really really hard. Unfortunately my mom didn’t survive because she’s too old, right now my best friend is doing well she had her surgery last 2015 and everything is back to normal, she’s working and a mom now. Last nov i joined and signed the petition to extend dialysis treatment from 75 session to 100 plus, coz here in the Philippines the treatment is soooo expensive!! Bea, i’m praying for you and to all the people who is currently going some tough times, this is just a challenge. God will never leave us, you will survive and Our Lord God will heal you.

Hi I'm a ckd patient and had transplant last year and getting better now . The lesson that I learn through out the journey is nothing possible with god. All this happened for a reason. And if he give a challenge it's means he will give you also the answer. Coz when I been diagnosed with ckd last end of 2018, I don't believed it coz I don't have any symptoms that I have a kidney problem it just shown on the test result when I'm applying for a job. My world also got crush that instant coz where not that rich to afford this kind of medical care but in God plans all thing is possible in instant all the blessing came and got transplant Oct 2019 and now getting better and much healthier. Just pray to God and trust him and god bless.

Hi Bea you are so brave for posting something like this and sharing with all of your kidney disease journey. I know Its not easy I myself is going thru what youre going thru right now, its not easy but first thing that you need to do is to accept that your life will never be the same, went into depression/paranoia the first 6 months from my diagnosis, i would be paranoid in regards to what i eat to a point i would only eat boiled or blanched veggies, drastic weight loss came after it, from 135 lbs i went down to 82 lbs in less than 2 months. I did not want to talk to anyone even my family, i shut off my friends, was just basically work and home and on my days off ill be lying in bed crying. But slowly i came to realize that what im doing to myself is not helping my situation either, so I started educating myself about my kidney disease talked to my nephrologist more and asked them if I could speak to a dietician for a kidney friendly diet, and from that point on everything got easier. Its been 12 years since my initial diagnosis of glomerulai nephritis, and i thank god everyday that so far I dont need to have a kidney transplant just yet. Kidney is still functioning at more than 50% right now. Just keep having a positive outlook in life no matter what and just pray. God bless you always ❤

Hi Bea. God bless you. I just wanna encourage you to be strong in the Lord. I am a dialysis PD nurse and I do know how it feels to have a meltdown because of kidney failure. Most of the people I know and met have to go through this also but be encouraged you can still live a normal life. I see that you have a very good support system. Be encouraged. Just take it one day at a time, try not to overwhelm yourself with lots of worries especially future/ unknown worries, you already have enough at the moment. Just remember it could be worse. Smile. Jesus loves you. I will remember you in my prayers.

Hi bea.. I just remember that a friend nurse here in singapore who is working @ Raffles Hospital had a patient which is undergoing dialysis.. luckily, after this patient is hospitalised her egfr function increased. Hence dialysis is no longer needed. Maybe you may try to visit Singapore to check

2 options.. use a diaper or 'bedpan'.. nurse here hehe thanks for sharing this sensitive topic to netizens.. it's about time for us all to be educated about kidney health cause most people only know diabetes or high blood pressure or high cholesterol.. dialysis makes u super tired, but we know that you're a strong person and that you can get through this! 💕
