What we settled on was a dream team run where he got to save edit in exactly 8 of his favorite mons, but those were the only 8 mons he got to use, if one faints, he has one less mon to use. To still give purpose to the one mon he gets to catch per encounter table, he was playing with a rule that allowed him to "sacrifice" mons to "resurrect" a fallen mon; ex. he has a level 30 Gabite, his level 30 Gabite faints, he then puts 2 level 5s, a level 8, and a level 12 Pokemon in the "dead" box, Pokemon whose levels add up to 30, the same level as his Gabite. But I eventually won out in convincing him that between sand veil, bright powder, and a setup with double team, substitute, and baton pass, his Garchomp would be unlikely to actually take damage meaningfully, if at all. I love these videos from you in a competitive setting where you give insight to your thought process! Also, "Is Togekiss bold nature or timid? It's Togekiss nature" made me laugh :D
I find the pre-round thought process the most interesting bit. I never played competitive mostly because I never had a Nintendo console, so I have to emulate the games. The battle tree, which is the most challenging game mode (that is not self imposed), actually made me think about the fights. So I can recall my own mental process of team building and it's so exciting to see how much above Wolfey is. His strategy is on a level of his own.
I'm still learning how to play competitive format, but it's always good to remember that even a world champion can lose sometimes! This makes me feel better about my losses and motivates me to keep on improving.
I wondeer if competitive Milotic will see a resurgence in this meta. I figure with the automatic prevalence of Garchomp and Togekiss alongside intimidate mons Milotic would be fairly effective. Though it is always hard to argue against Suicune with tailwind.

Also, "Is Togekiss bold nature or timid? It's Togekiss nature" made me laugh :D
I rly like the productions how they got the Pokétch to display scores
Wolfey: "So the Core of the team is Azumarrill."
Me: "You have my attention."
I'm a casual, and I like Azumarrill.
Me: skipping ahead because I see wolfey down 1v3
The end match screen: Wolfey WIN
Me: rewinding
Love these kinds of wideos!! I rewatch this a lot.
ayo did dude make 500k subs in a bit over a year? I'mma be here when he hits 1mil and it's gonna be epic.
Yooo! Highly enjoyed this absolute GEM of a wideo! Thank you so much for the hours of entertainment, I hope you’re doing splendidly and enjoying BDSP! I quite liked this introduction to the format, much easier for a guy who never played Sw/Sh to follow everything without max-Pokémon
Also, kudos to the amazing editing in this long video!
Yess!!! More VGC PLEASE!! You’re so great at explaining the play by play, keep up the great work Wolfey!!
I've been trying to play some doubles on showdown for a few days this has been so helpful.
I love seeing the competitive battling and Wolfe was another level. But that dawn player with tyranitar, heatran, Latios, gastrodon, scizor and hitmontop played extremely well tooo
Totally loved this. It really shows how much intelligence is needed to play competitive Pokémon properly. I feel like an idiot throughout the whole video but my interest for it just kept me wanting to see more. Great Job Wolf!
I've been watching wolfie for a few months and still can't believe he got me back into pokémon
"I lost to an Air Slash miss, and a Play Rough miss... and I played badly"
lol
Shoutout to the opponent with the Encanto name themed team. Great movie
Editing on this video is superb, love it!
This format is feeling so nostalgic and in loving it!
Congratulation on 400K ! ♥
This was good to watch. I haven't played a main pokemon game since actual DP era, so getting BDSP was real special to me. And now that I actually have friends I can obtain my fav pokemon ever for the very first time, Steelix, and attempt to make my "Gym" steel type team. Very excited to learn more competitive strats and try this out.
I really enjoyed how you explained your team so well. Great video!
Azumarill is actually one of my fav pokemon and nobody really ever sees its potential outside of competitive
I like azumaril because of competitive
The tft lines are so great to hear, “ im going eiff “ ly wolfey and so happy i got to play u sometimes
Really good editing! All of those overlays for a 2.5 hour video does not go overlooked.
I only managed to tune into the last few matches on your Twitch, and there I witnessed the only skill check that mattered.
Luck is truly a skill
Wolfey: haha flinch hax go brrrrr
Also Wolfey: nooo you can't just hit me through bright powder :(
I had no idea that wide guard can be used repeatedly without failing. That seems kind of op
It's not OP if you have literally any single-target attack.
The team build explanation is fantastic for both editing and scripting. Keep it up
I just wanna see I really missed watching your battle content! I love your attitude while playing! Thank you for doing you!
