I think it’s really underrated how clearly Wolfe explains his strategies and the current battle situation, it’s really informative and the way he talks makes it easier for someone to maybe go, “I wanna try competitive Pokémon “
I took a break from VGC for a few months because of personal stuff, and when I come back I see wolfey went from 500k subs to a million. Stuff like this is the reason why, it's so easy to understand what he's talking about at any given point
a round of anti-applasue for whoever made the call for constant unncessesary and way too close zoom ins on wolfe's face, makes the vid kind of unwatchable honestly
The cut is great and I love that he also shows every move on screen because not all people play pokemon in english and know all attacks in a different language.
To whoever edited this video, the matches are sooooo entertaining to watch and easy to follow! Fantastic editing!!! (on top of wolfey's script and voiceover, of course!)
I love that your highlights are not only you winning, or making perfect predictions, making you appear to be always performing at perfection. It helps show how much you're enduring and studying the options of the battle by sharing some of the missed predictions and unfortunate KOs.
Wolfey even if 2022 wasn’t a good year for you, please know your content has levelled up so damn much and you should be proud of where you’ve come to! We’ll always appreciate what you do for the Pokémon community and personally, my 2020 and 2021 were super rough but your wideos always out a smile on my face, you’re just amazing and I’ll always be grateful! 2023 will be your year, especially if this wideo is a sign of things to come! 🥰
I've been subscribed to Wolfey since 2016, I'm so proud of how far his content has come in the past few years. His videos have always been super entertaining (I don't play competitive at all and I still love watching him) but he's truly taken things to the next level recently. I feel like he's transitioned from a competitive player who makes UA-cam videos into a competitive player who is a full blown Pokemon content creator.
They're still only human. They can still make mistakes, and there's also the fact that random chance plays a role as well with things like if a sleeping Pokemon wakes up early or not, or if a Pokemon can shrug off Paralysis for that turn. :)
@@gamester512 definitely. I used to think the same that people I looked up to were somehow different but after meeting a lot of them you realise they’re also just human and just like you. Although wolfey is a bit better at vgc than me lol
I always love it when the most unassuming Pokemon end up becoming serious threats in VGC. No one outside of the competitive world would have ever guessed that Murkrow would become a major pick for VGC 2023.
the thing i love about this channel is that i absolutely know nothing about competitive pokemon and only played it a lot casually yet with how the videos are made i can understand exactly whats happening and why some things are as cool, smart or lucky as it is. seeing what these pokemon can all do (when theyre not overleveled one shotting npcs) is just so cool to me. a pokemon id never ever use in the main game can look super fun to use competitively and the duo battles give so much more possibility for fun and cool strats. being told real quick at the start what every pokemon can do and what their purpose is just makes it really nice to watch. only piece of competitive pokemon i watch :)

@@ecozy_ hey if it helps, ive played pokemon from im pretty sure gen 2 and even i still dont my type matchups hahaha. Im glad to hear youre enjoying one of my favourite franchises!
Wolfey makes it so easy to understand his thinking, matchups, and what makes plays so good. It's very welcomed that he focuses purely on his own gameplay and doesn't diss others even when he loses. Sometimes there are bad matchups and sometimes people are outplayed. You can feel the love he has for Pokemon and it's made me get back into it (aside from casual play of the game).
I love the editing style on the videos. You speed up the turns while keeping all the relevant info and explaining your thought process! Makes it super easy to follow
I love this video format!! Getting a deeper breakdown on serious competitive play is super interesting, and the comments explaining your thought process are top tier. I'd love to keep seeing more like this!!!
Legit this was one of your best videos I’ve seen. The editing was nonstop for an hour too. We noticed and it was great. Thanks to you and the whole team
Wolfey, I have played pokemon for a long time as a casual but you have personally sparked interest in the competitive side. Your videos are entertaining and you have come a long way in your editing and pacing. Awesome creator overall.
I just gotta say the frequency and quality of these videos baffles me. The editing is well done and makes things easy to understand from a casual perspective, as well as being entertaining. You should be proud of where you're at, as this content is wonderful!
I'm super appreciative for all of the edited-in explanations. They help me learn while keeping the pace of the video up, not slowing it down for people who don't want the nitty-gritty details. Well done!
Playing games at a high level is always very interesting. Like, I think it's amusing how Murkrow is so omnipresent as a ready answer to Dondozo, and yet, in this tournament there isn't a single Dondozo in sight.
It's the metagame triangle. The standard meta game is beaten by a countermeta, the countermeta gets so popular that people stop using the standard meta and build counters around the countermeta, and in a healthy meta, that countercountermeta usually doesn't fare well against the standard meta. Meta.
You got it backwards. Murkrow is a good Pokemon in general. Being the only Prankster Tailwind setter gives it a monopoly on instant Tailwind support. It was going to be used regardless of other Pokemon because of that. On the flip side, Dondozo is only good if you don't have an answer to it. Murkrow being common as a Tailwind setter means that it is everywhere. Since it can Haze away Dondozo's boosts away, running Dondozo isn't a good idea. That's why you didn't see any. To put it simply, Murkrow isn't run to as counter to Dondozo, but it can easily invalidate it. Because of this, you don't see Dondozo because it gets hard countered by a fairly common Pokemon.
I'm really liking the editing on these videos, the little graphics to help explain all the nerdy pokemon things like at 35:00 make the videos so much better
