You and the other dude have the best camera angle of any mx youtube video. I can feel the jumps just watching. Love it. This track looks sick for beginners at jumping. Good flow. Not too crazy.
I grew up on 2 strokes and i sold my 06 cr250 in 2007 and got on a 4 stroke. Ive been on 4 strokes from 07-2022 until i bought a new gasgas 300 and i cant for the life of me get my brain used to letting off the throttle on the jump face again and its making track days miserable 😆
dude nice!! I’m 42 and I wanna learn to ride 🤣😂… I always wanted to learn as a kid tho. But I live in New York State (unfortunately) not many places to ride that are inside of 2/hrs. Also, I’m too big at 6’3 200/lbs. I feel like the only bike I could reasonably get on that wouldn’t make me feel like I stole some poor kid’s dirt bike is a Yamaha 250. I can drive manual in a car, I learned in 15min by having my dad get my brand new 2002 Eclipse GT (fast and furious just came out lol) off the dealer lot and we switched spots and once he showed me how to get 1st gear I instantly picked it up… no lie, I dropped him off and went out that night with my friends. So I understand using the clutch and shifting by feeling but I’ve just never been on a bike. Half of riding one is learning body positioning on the bike. I wouldn’t start on anything bigger than a 250 and I think Yamaha make’s the biggest bike and probably the best bike for my frame. Great video man… you’re so smooth! How long you been riding?
Btw, really liked how you did this video Derek! Love all of the different camera angles from 1st and 3rd person as well as from that cutie named Taylor 😘. Definitely a sick viddy 🤘
Have you tuned your powervalve at all, it seems to be vary controllable. I have a 22’ 150 sx and I still need to tune it so it’s a more linear power delivery.
I swapped the powervalve spring to the the aggressive one (red spring) because I like the power to hit as soon and as hard as possible but I haven't turned the adjuster yet. Did you buy the other springs?
Hey, Can you give me your opinion on this please? I would like to buy my first enduro bike. I will use it to explore forest trails and climb some small/medium hills. Should I get a 150 or a 250 (both 2 stroke)?
Dude you’re looking really good! A really important tip for you is to not let off at the lip. Try to keep a steady throttle up the whole face. Love the vids and keep up the good work🤘🏼
Thanks for watching Jayce! But nah man if I held the throttle all the way off the lip at the speeds I'm going I would land into the next jump face lol. Being consistent with the throttle is key - 0 throttle, full throttle, half throttle, whatever - as long as its consistent off the face and not blipping. I let off the gas in the straight away before the jump because I'm going too fast, then soak up the jump. Perfect example is at 4:05 - if I stayed on the throttle for those jumps, especially the last one in the rhythm, I'd probably land so far out to flat I'd break my ankles.
@@jaycecunningham3756 Yep and a perfect example of that, what NOT to do - blip the throttle on the face - I did on my warm up lap at 1:01 lol quite sketchy. You can also see how far I overshot the landing.
@@DerekHallman haha I noticed that😂 Also i’ve been thinking about getting a 2 smoke 150 or possibly 125. What do you think about the 150? Pros and cons
BRO YOU SENT THAT LONG TABLETOP HAHA. Great progress and riding from all of you, great vid as always! Also.. please convince your bud Patrick to get a gopro. Him riding is a whole vibe 💯 😂
Complete beginner and never ripped a dirtbike? 125 2stroke would be great to practice and get some seattime on. I you have driven one, guess you could go for a 150-200 2 stroke or a 250 4 stroke, it's what you prefer. 2 stroke does need more maintenance, but be hell a lot more fun imo
Hey Derek! Love the videos man!! So I'm looking to buy my first bike, and deciding between a CRF250R and a YZ250F. I was wondering what are some of your thoughts, which one you prefer, and why? Im 6'1 and 250lbs. I've never ridden before. Thanks for the help and rippin vids!!
They are both good but I reckon you should get the Honda. Gets the job done and is more reliable. You'll have lots of fun especially on trails and it can handle some small jumps aswell Also, I've had both before and imo the Honda was just better overall
@@TomasTots Ok! Cause I see a lot of people enjoying the KYB on the Yamaha and the better low end torque. What are some of your pros/cons for both? How bout ergonomics and rider fitment/comfort
@@connorrice949 True, but I forgot to add that the bikes I rode were the versions produced here in Brazil (CRF250F and TTR250F), so they are probably different than the US versions. Here the Honda is more reliable and has more comfortable, lighter and better suspension. The rest is pretty much the same. You'd probably enjoy both I'm sure
@@sparkykendall4653 no because Ricky Carmichael James Stewart Chad Reed many riders and went from a four-stroke to a two-stroke and back to the four stroke after they won on the 2-stroke

Thank you for hyping me up buddy I greatly appreciate it!!
Literally had so much fun riding with everyone, jumped my biggest jump yet on the 150rb! Stoked to go back and rip my new yz250f! 😝🤘
You and the other dude have the best camera angle of any mx youtube video. I can feel the jumps just watching. Love it. This track looks sick for beginners at jumping. Good flow. Not too crazy.
You're doing much better on the 2 stroke. Smooth throttle off the jump is key. 👍👍

Novice question-How do you manage the twitchy explosive nature of 2 stroke powerband smoothly over jumps and around the track?
Your riding has come a long way! Lookin good and the bike is sounding crisp!
Thank you so much brotendo!!

Why Lectron? A perfectly jetted carb is miles more responsive than a Lectron.
