      Well if you train bjj or mma you know the core of mma that you can only punch certain number of significant punches(I am only talking about bare knuckle fists), In this position Dean puts only his forehead reachable, which mean nothing but a damage for a striker fist, but if he would were a gloves that would be a different story, still his punches would not be significant.

    Hi Dean - love the idea of a video for what really happened in a bout. I am a newby and I was shocked at how quickly I succumb to a triangle once it's on. I can really see how turning the arm over reduces the pressure over your own shoulder and sets you up nicely to stand up and walk around. Also starting to understand the development of "poise" where by just relaxing you can make a bad position much more tolerable.

      Ed, you are right..... i'll make a comparison to a boxer who accepts that he will get hit and knows that is a part of a fight....Being trained in this way makes you mentally and physically stronger.... Wishing you the best in training my bro

    Dean fights on such a full spectrum dominance level, even in the fog of
    combat, thinking seemingly several moves ahead on positioning locks,
    that his nickname should be Dean "Check Mate" Lister or Dean "OODA LOOP
    Assailant" Lister. What a delight to watch Dean conduct his mental and
    physical chess game on the octagon board. Bravo for the visual treats in
    this video, and the glimpse of a true professional at his craft. It's
    Dean's world when he enters the octagon and the opponents, though
    professionals themselves, often just look like pawns on the octagon game board.

    Dean LIster! I usually stop reading a thread when the comments turn so weird and negative, but then I read your invitation giving jim jones an opportunity to make a little cash helping you improve your game. How did the training go? Was it worth the 100 bucks? haha For what it is worth to you, I am now a HUGE Dean Lister fan. You are a fantastic grappler: physically and psychologically! I tuned in to learn a triangle defense tip, and found a bonus tip on how to handle a troll! Well done. Respect to you, Dean!!!!

    ATTENTION: I love Dean and we all know he is the man (twice the man I am....!). yet, the four levels of defense are a little mixed up...how do you rank prevention second and countering 1st? who do we even conceptualized that...? FINALLY: Dean's wisdom - as amazing at it is - kind of ranks right up there with Mario Sperry's wisdom on Americans and spider guard...why wont you look me in the eye Dean!!!

    • @crazyden2345
      @crazyden2345 7 років тому +2

      It's not so much a matter of rank but rather a chronological order, the starting point being in a neutral position and the ending point being getting submitted.

    Lister Dean, This may be a stupid question, but would this work, if say, Keanan had that triangle fully locked?

    • @listerdean2332
      @listerdean2332 10 років тому

      i believe his triangle was fully locked.... its only a good escape with a lot of practice

    • @Santiper916
      @Santiper916 10 років тому

      Lister Dean as I said. It was a dumm question. I found the ADCC footage of your match with Keenan and I was able to see this technique actually work on a tight locked triangle. I really like this approach but like you say, it comes with practice. Right now it is probably working 4 out of 10 times. I am still a novice and have problems passing guard so some times it is easier for me to give in, lets say a triangle, then escape it and work my way up from there. You are an inspiration sir. Keep up the good work

      Lister Dean Hi Dean - I believe this is the real Dean because no man would be brazen enough to 'fake' another man's tragedy: I am sorry for the loss. I hope you can take some time to heal - not put any pressure on yourself: recognize that if you never compete again your status is permanently cemented with the other legends of our sport. You are welcome in Nova Scotia Canada at my home as my guest anytime - its a super quiet place with tonnes of beautiful beaches and awesome training facilities. May God Bless you Dean.

      even if that happens (prob won't because of the pressure), the point of the video is to get out of the deep triangle. he mentions that opponent can take your back as well, but it's better to anticipate the next spot and work way out than pass out ot tap to the triangle.
