    Your advice is amazing! I gained the confidence to repot my orchid that had laid dormant for 2 years. It had fine leaves, but the spike had died. After a repotme replant and springtime cool nights my problem now is it’s too heavy with flowers to stay upright! Now it’s got amazing leaves and 17 gorgeous blooms with a branched spike. The usual wire stand isn’t strong enough and I’m tying it upright. Time for another heavier pot! Thank you so much for helping me!

    I bought a phal from a big box store/flower shop about two years ago and it is re-blooming for the first time thanks to you and this channel! My question is: It's putting out two spikes, growing new roots AND this morning I noticed that it's growing a new leaf as well (this would be it's 4th new leaf this year- 10th in total), is it ok for all of this to be going on at the same time? I don't want it to get stressed, I want to finally see some blooms! Thanks for all your help!

    Fantastic video on climate , light etc for flowering orchids , my favourite is the cymbidium orchids so far , my climate is very warm summers and very cool winters , they are a very tough orchid for my region in Australia , all the other orchids I struggled with , i generally would lose them after a couple of seasons as I didn’t use air conditioners or heaters some orchid growers use in their green houses , my orchids have to survive the elements of weather or they simply won’t live with me , my phalanopsis and cims are in flowering mode now nearly third week into spring here. 🙏

    Hi Dannie .. Is there a way to train roots to grow downward toward the medium? Some of my phals have new roots emerging that are hitting a leaf and forcing it upwords. i want them to head towards the medium and i'm afraid if i force them they will break and stop growing..any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you !!

      It is perfectly ok to have roots growing out of the pot (aerial roots). In fact its a rlly good thing if ever the roots inside ur pot r harmed thru root shock, overwatering, etc. Aerial roots will provide u a backup plan. Also, them bumping the leaves will do no harm, u may not like the look of it but it is totally healthy :)

      @@larissasheret7331 Thanks for the reply, .. i am aware of aerial roots , i have many on my other plants (12 total), this one is recovering from a root die-off and i want to train them down so i can fertilize and control the amount of water they take in..there is only one good root in the sphagnum moss on this one, and there are three new root growing from the stem , i really want to get them down to the medium so they can pick up more nutrition to help the recovery..again , Thanks..

    I would like to get into dendrobiums, but I'm having a hard time knowing what type (phalaenopisis or nobile) they are from their brief descriptions online (some specify, but many don't). Is there a way to tell them apart when you only have access to close up images of the flowers or images of the plant when they are not in bloom? Which one are 'antelope' dendrobiums? Thanks.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  Рік тому +1

      Hi, well flowers are a great way to tell, nobile make blooms very close to the canes along its lenght on each side, phal types male long spikes on top of canes. Flowers have different shapes as well. Without flowers it's harder, but it's a matter of noticing the visual differences.
