      @@thedivide3688 yes, ground orchids are great. Mine come up every spring and bloom, then die down in winter just like a perennial plant. . The blooms last about a month .

    A good trick for the more calcium-loving paphs I've found -- crushed oyster shells. You can buy them online and they're pretty cheap (mostly for chicken feed). Mine love them.

      Hi, I used it when trying the rePotme slipper mix, it's linked in the description. For me it doesn't do such a big impact, I don't notice improvement over the ones without oyster shells, so I just use tap water ☺️

    Hi Miss. Orchid Girl, your lectures on how to care for the different types of paphiopedilum is very interesting. I bought a plant the first time it arrived in Jamaica I didn't get a name tag for it, but it has never bloomfor me only it produces a lot of plants more than what I've expected. Anyways I have 2 more that I have exchange with friends and they have bloom for me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with it why it has never bloom. Thank you for your advice. Happy growing.

    I did it, repotted my slippers. They were given to me. Two plants that are (Brown, white, yellow, brown spots). They bloomed over the winter. In repotting them I found some interesting things, The one was planted in pine needles mulch, didn’t have much roots something like the one you planted. The other was more interesting, When I got it I saw bare roots so I put medium on top & filled the pot. This one had lots of heathy roots the shaped the pot & was stuck to the sides inside. So had to put in a bigger pot. You will never guess what I found inside (earthworms!) I put them in my flower bed of mint. I wonder if that is why the roots did so good.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, probably not, nutrients can come from fertilizers, it was probably the moisture levels, but you did good in saving the earthworms! 👍

I covered the roots with sphagnum but now I see It should be bark on top. There is no sphagnum in the large bark mixture. She is so pretty.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, not really. Cypripediums can be cooler growing, many of them are deciduous and do require a very cold period in winter. I think there are other differences as well, but it depends on species. I would not apply these care tips to Cypripedium, best thing to do is to research them more before purchasing. Paphs make for better house plants ☺️

    • @MissOrchidGirl

  • @greggeo5933

    Hi Danny, I need some advice for my Paphiopedilum maudiae green. I have to cut out regularly some bits from the leaves because some kind of infection: big glossy brown patches. I didn't see them growing, but occasionally I notice them at the weekly watering. They are in older fans and leaves, and on new ones too. What could it be? A bacterial infection, infected mechanical injuries, a deficiency, too dry media? The last flower wilted about 2 days after it opened (in the winter), and the flower has that brown patch too.
    It is in lica, but it is grove, and bloom regularly. Now have three new fans too, and pretty bushy. The only bad thing with it is really the occasionally brown patches. I really don't want to loose it. Can I show/send you some photos somewhere? - If there is a place for that- for more clarity.

    Hello Danny, I have a Vinicolor Paphiopedilum. I’d like to share with you a picture. I think two spikes are growing but I’m not sure. How can I send you a picture?

    Hello! Sorry for being late, but do you know any paphiopedilums that can withstand hot temperatures all year round?
