I took your advice. I bought 4 orchids from the supermarket because they were buy one get one. I immediately repotted them. They’re my new babies-phalanopsis
Thank you Danni for this tutorial on my favorite orchid, the paphiopedilum. I’ve killed plenty of phalenopsis orchids but my paphiopedilum , is thriving. I am newbie in the orchid growing community and I think paphiopedilums like me. Amy
Received my first Paph moments ago. You answered every question I had plus a few I hadn’t thought of. You are wonderful, Dani - my go-to person for orchid info.
A good trick for the more calcium-loving paphs I've found -- crushed oyster shells. You can buy them online and they're pretty cheap (mostly for chicken feed). Mine love them.
Hi, I used it when trying the rePotme slipper mix, it's linked in the description. For me it doesn't do such a big impact, I don't notice improvement over the ones without oyster shells, so I just use tap water ☺️
I absolutely LOVE Paphiopedilums!! Can’t wait for mine to rebloom :) she seems to be doing well and showing new growths, and just the foliage I find beautiful.
Hi Miss. Orchid Girl, your lectures on how to care for the different types of paphiopedilum is very interesting. I bought a plant the first time it arrived in Jamaica I didn't get a name tag for it, but it has never bloomfor me only it produces a lot of plants more than what I've expected. Anyways I have 2 more that I have exchange with friends and they have bloom for me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with it why it has never bloom. Thank you for your advice. Happy growing.

Great video, very helpful thank you. I have several very neglected Paphs I'm hoping to revive. One had a fan fall off with one little root, I'm hoping to get it to root then pot it up. Thanks for sharing.
I did it, repotted my slippers. They were given to me. Two plants that are (Brown, white, yellow, brown spots). They bloomed over the winter. In repotting them I found some interesting things, The one was planted in pine needles mulch, didn’t have much roots something like the one you planted. The other was more interesting, When I got it I saw bare roots so I put medium on top & filled the pot. This one had lots of heathy roots the shaped the pot & was stuck to the sides inside. So had to put in a bigger pot. You will never guess what I found inside (earthworms!) I put them in my flower bed of mint. I wonder if that is why the roots did so good.
Thank You Dani . I just got my first PPf in the mail today. It has a flower spike with a bloom yet to open. It is in bark only. Roots are showing. Should I repot now. I covered the roots with sphagnum but now I see It should be bark on top. There is no sphagnum in the large bark mixture. She is so pretty. Thank you.

Hi, love your videos! Where did you find the white and clear cylinder planters and saucers on the right side of your table at 22:18 timestamp? They are fab!
Hi, these are called orchitop, or carousel pots, they are quite good! In the USA you can find them at rePotme, but I'm not sure in Europe or other teritories. But a google search will find them, they are quite popular ☺️
Hi, not really. Cypripediums can be cooler growing, many of them are deciduous and do require a very cold period in winter. I think there are other differences as well, but it depends on species. I would not apply these care tips to Cypripedium, best thing to do is to research them more before purchasing. Paphs make for better house plants ☺️
I have a struggling paph. the middle leaf died but there are roots coming out. Can I expect a new leaf on the still existing fan or will it send out a new fan?
Hey Danny, Wondering if you've ever seen what's happening to my one orchid. It is growing 2 leaves from the crown and the edges of the leaf is almost wavey. The orchid lost almost all roots in the winter and is currently growing 3 new roots. It looks dehydrated so I've watered more often but it just doesn't seem to help. Any tips?
Hi Danny, I have a quite big, rescued paph (do not know the name of it, but it's a green leafed one). It looks fine to me, and it is even growing new leaves, but the leaves are almost all droopy. Is it normal for them, or could it be that it doesn't get enough moisture?
Hi, it doesn't sound too normal, I would try to see if the roots are still alive. Maybe it suffered from root rot and it cannot hydrate anymore, hope not!
Hi Danny, I need some advice for my Paphiopedilum maudiae green. I have to cut out regularly some bits from the leaves because some kind of infection: big glossy brown patches. I didn't see them growing, but occasionally I notice them at the weekly watering. They are in older fans and leaves, and on new ones too. What could it be? A bacterial infection, infected mechanical injuries, a deficiency, too dry media? The last flower wilted about 2 days after it opened (in the winter), and the flower has that brown patch too. It is in lica, but it is grove, and bloom regularly. Now have three new fans too, and pretty bushy. The only bad thing with it is really the occasionally brown patches. I really don't want to loose it. Can I show/send you some photos somewhere? - If there is a place for that- for more clarity.
Did you ever find out Greg Geo? I’ve just received my first Phap, and there was a tinge of brown on one of the petals. Within 3 days it has got worse. No bugs and the leaves are perfect.
An other great video. I transplanted one of my Paphs last week and according to todays video I didn't do too badly. My other Paph needs repotting as well but I have run out of bark and since we moved I have not found a source for orchid bark so I don't know what I'm going to do. With the lock down due to Covid 19 is is very hard. any suggestions for an option ?
