    I think it’s so funny when people think their orchid will bloom within a month or two and are disappointed when they don’t. I’m only new to this hobby by 2 years, but you have taught me so much, and I wish everyone knew these things. My kids know that I take care of my orchids and they tell their friends parents about me, so I tell them about you 😂 i have learned to love the plant, because the blooms are only present for a fraction of the year.

    People are just SO attached to their “hacks” tho. They get utterly defensive, like you called their kid ugly, if you even “suggest” that they’re wasting time. This isn’t specific to orchids either; the amount of crap I got was mindblowing, from a gardening page when I advised a lady who wanted to try the “potato hack” with a rose cutting. I simply advised her that it didn’t DO anything, and it was simpler to just skip the whole palaver and just plant the cutting. Not to mention “daring” to advise against the infamous ice cube hack for orchids!! Why on earth that EVER got traction I will NEVER understand, but it’s still a holy article of faith for some people.

    I got my first orchid earlier in the year. Your videos are really helpful. The blooms lasted a long time, and the foliage has been growing well all summer. I can’t wait until it blooms again. I was skeptical I could keep one alive, but now that I’ve had some success I plan to get more.

    I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now. I follow your instructions as closely as possible. A few of my orchids bloomed early spring but since nothing. We have had a very hot summer here in Albuquerque NM. Could that be the reason there not blooming. Leaves and roots look healthy. Any advice will certainly be appreciated. Tbh most areas are experiencing out of normal weather conditions these days. Any change in climate can change a plants growth habits. Maybe experiment a little with your plants with regard to humidity, watering, amount of light and other variables? Given your area climatically, you’re pretty similar to Dani in Cyprus, heat and humidity wise so her regimen should work ok for you. Keep in mind tho, most of hers are indoors under lights.

      Hi, it really just depends on the type of orchids you have, for example store bought Phalaenopsis should not bloom during warm seasons, that is their growing season, so what you are experiencing might be very normal and the orchids will bloom when the temperatures go down :)

    Can you comment on one of the Hapiness Garden videos, where they revive leafless dry orchids(only roots and stem left). It's completely nuts to me how they are able to do that.

      Happiness Garden vidoes are mass produced and designed simply to generate the most amount of money for the factory-like producer, for the least amount of effort. They are just fake. If all these wonderful "hacks" actually worked, orchid producers would be using these methods instead of the ones that actually work - that is using the right amount of light, temperature, humidity and growing conditions.

    my phalaenopsis produced a flower spike. But instead of flower bloom, a new baby phalaenopsis grew. It has no roots since it grew directly on the tip of the flower spikes. I am afraid that if I cut out the spike, the new plant will die and not develop its own roots. What should I do? Thanks for the advice.

    I have a question about the bloom booster. I have a large cymbidium and have been told to use 2 different fertilizers. One for veg. growth and one for blooming. What do you think?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi, I honestly don't think it makes that much of a difference which you use, you can use both of them alternatively and stop fertilising when the cooler season starts (no bloom boosters in the cool down for Cymbidiums) Nothing wrong with using both they have good nutrients, I just don't believe one will induce blooming over the other. For Cymbidiums definitely the change in temperature will start the blooming season :)

    @missorchidgirl is it possible for an orchid to regrow its axis stem? Let's say I have an orchid that I have been trying to save from a purchase I did from a big box store, I took it out of the medium it was in and all of the roots were soggy basically dead. I have been trying to grow roots on this small orchid for a while I had a new leaf, but lost all of the roots and have been trying to grow roots, I even tried root growing hormone And now I did the unthinkable by accident in the process of cleaning what I had left of the axis it accidentally snapped on me and all i have left was the bottom of the orchid with a few leaves would it be possible to grow roots from that bottom point of the orchid and begin a new axis? Any thoughts and opinions from anyone are appreciated thank you all #helpmesavemyorchid 🙏😢

    Some plants do benefit from a proper day night cycle and a proper night rest. I don't know for orchids but it wouldn't surprise me if they did get some benefit from it. Some plants will bloom better for you with a proper night rest with no light pollution they'll still bloom. If you give light pollution, it will just take it a lot longer and you won't get as many blooms. Especially for plants that daylight cycle triggers blooming.
    Like cannabis, cannabis needs the shortening hours of the day to bloom.
    It will help signify a season change. But you need a light cycle change for that . Starting somewhere like 18 hours of daylight and dropping it to just 10 hours a daylight. Any light pollution during that step down in hours will slow the blooming process.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  10 місяців тому +1

      oh somebody must have mixed the two then :))))

    • @samuelgoodwin6486
      @samuelgoodwin6486 10 місяців тому

      @@MissOrchidGirl the light pollution at night only matters while it is in bloom..
      I treat my orchids the same. I grow in a grow tent. And I do notice quite a few blooms when I adjust light levels/ daylight hours. But I really don't care about the light pollution because I'm not trying to maximize yield so I haven't tested light pollution during night rest.
      I think the test proper. You would need multiple clones of the same plant so that you have a control group and they all bloom at the same time . Otherwise it could be a placebo. I think I got more flowers, I don't think I got more flowers
