      Ha, I've been collecting for a few years now, you have to have patience and save for the good listings!

    Given the age of the sets, I would make sure you have the transformer and voltage regulator before you order your trains. That way you can test track, train and other parts and return them if they don't work.

      Good suggestion, if anyone is reading the comment above follow this advice! Actually, I got the train first and proceeded to power it with a battery pack of sufficient voltage... I would have much preferred the transformer.

    Very detailed explanation. Just finished collecting 9v trains and was considering jumping to 12v but it seems that the difficulty was way higher😅

      Thanks! Yes, unfortunately if you're based outside of Europe, 12v trains are much less accessible, but in my opinion worth it. Do you have all the 9v trains?

    • @destinvole3188
      @destinvole3188 2 роки тому +2

      @@Reker1million yes all of them except the rarest of the rarest 65537,still looking forward to one. Seems that 12v has more to come than 9v

      Impressive, some of the 9v trains are indeed expensive (4558, 10020, 10133). 12v actually has less train sets than 9v, but they are harder to find in good condition and the cost of the points and signals makes 12v overall more expensive than 9v even though 9v straights are $5 each.

    7750 was very expensive and usually not found in department stores etc like 7740 was (my very hazy memory as an 80’s child). Like the red and blue shunters - why buy it when you could buy other sets and get minifigs and carriages etc. A pity!

    • @Reker1million
      @Reker1million  2 роки тому +3

      Yep, I have heard that 7750 sold for the same price as the 7725... Back then why buy an old steam locomotive with no wagons or track when you could buy a full electric passenger train. Plus 7750 wasn't sold in countries such as the UK. For good and for bad, now all of the supplemental engines are definitely collector's items if you have the box.

    Good video. More detailed than what I did in my dark ages. Still have my layout. Have been countless of times to the US and 12v was never released there.... Must be expensive to import all these sets into the US. Keep it up!

      Hey man, good to hear from you! I don't think we have spoken before but I just wanted to let you know that you were on of my biggest inspirations to get into 12v trains, it's sad you stopped uploading but I understand that sometimes there are other priorities in life. It is indeed expensive to import them, $50+ for shipping every purchase... worth it though, 12v is truly the best system there is. Thank you for the comment!

      @@Reker1million Well, yeah. Like I said, these were my dark ages. Luckily I still have all the sets you see on my channel in their boxes. I think you do a better job in reviewing these things. And you are in the US, wow that is dedication.

    Maby the 12v bleu train sets that were Made before the 1980s ones are less expensive and the also have a 12v motor

    • @Reker1million
      @Reker1million  2 роки тому +2

      They are indeed less expensive, but also harder to find in good condition and the points were less reliable. Personally I prefer to Grey Era because of the electric accessories and degree of realism but I may buy some of the Blue Era sets at some point if I can find them in good condtion :)

    Hey! Great video, I’ve been looking for 7740 for quite some time, im waiting for one thats complete and has the inserts in the box, Is this set very rare? And how much should i be paying for it?

    • @Reker1million
      @Reker1million  2 роки тому +1

      Hello! Thank you for the comment. A complete 7740 box always has 2 transparent trays and the transparent tray lid, and depending on the year either 2 or 4 green trays. Early releases have 4 green trays- 2 with no separations and 2 with one separation and triangular corners, and later releases just have 2 green trays, both of which have 1 separation and rounded corners. If you want the lid with inner trays, the set can get fairly expensive, expect to pay 400 euros or more. The 7740 is already one of the more expensive sets so to find it with the box and all of the inner trays plus the rare tray lid can get pricey. If you have any more questions, let me know. Hope this helps!

    I got 7730, but it didn't include the freakin transformer. It's not even on the parts list.

    • @Reker1million
      @Reker1million  4 місяці тому +1

      Unfortunately none of the starter sets came with a transformer, the only way to get it was to buy the standalone set 7864
